- Touhou Project has a lot of fanworks, and when it comes to the race of influence, there can only be one first place: a fanwork so unhinged, so bad-yet-good, so "totally filled with a wacky community" that it has become taboo/infamous within the internet at large. How do you even accomplish that?? Ask the people who made Cookie☆ (and the Inmu community)!
This was a long time coming -- I always wanted to cover this yet had no idea how. A certain special someone from Touhoufest influenced my choice to make it, yet could never figure out the best way to put it... I guess that's what Cookie does to you, hmm?! It's like a little talisman they put on your head as punishment -- watch Cookie while paying full attention.
If you want me to do more Cookie (since there's a lot to it), I am open to doing it! You just gotta recommend me something, or idk. Anyway Cookie fans don't do any "funky" things to me xd

I think it might be worthwhile to make a video about Cookie☆ parodies and the culture that center around NYN aneki's contributions to the voice drama. It's basically become a canon of its own. Think of that derpy little Nazrin drawing that changed people's brain chemistry. Dig a little deeper though, and you'll find out about how far some fans were willing to go to get more voice clips/content for their videos.

I remember seeing the original Marisa & Alice cookie kiss on RUclips a few months ago. To me, it looked just like any other armature touhou fanwork and I thought it was cute. Didn't think there would be so much controversy behind it.

This community is seriously one of the wildest experiences you can ever find online. stories of lust, betrayal, personal demons, mental health, heart warming conclusions, beautiful works of arts, genuinely hilarious projects. Cookie is a true melting pot of internet shitposters. It truly is a sandbox anyone can play around in. It has it's demons. Dark moments, and good old cringe. But once you get past that. You're greeted with one of the hardest working, most passionate, interconnected yet decentralized communities online. It really is worth overcoming the language barrier for. The rabbit hole never ends with stories and videos to uncover.

The only thing I know about cookie is the character name tags on danbooru. The fact that those characters aren't from the original video is the scary part.

I am a Japanese cookie fanboy. It is so much fun to share this chaotic culture with people from other countries. For expression and culture to flourish, there needs to be "some" amount of chaos. The hard part is how much "some" actually is. I think a culture like cookies is a cutting-edge activity that explores that boundary.

As you mentioned the "anti-commercial" part of these videos, does seem to be play a major role in why niconico is flooded with this content for over 13+ years compared to other phenomenon like Wrestling Series, KYM, and others I cannot name off the top of my head.

I think a second part going a little deeper into this topic and explaining things like naming conventions, how Meguru voice actresses voice was used to make a vocaloid of sorts using UTAU(and mentioning the legendary trio of parodies by Nisu), the infamous Nyon scene, some of the drama around her streaming and where most of her voice clips come from, mentioning the korean cookie etc. These are very interesting topics and getting some coverage of them in a single concise english video would be great!

Hi, I am Japanese and a fan of Cookie☆ and Inm. (Not something I can say with much pride anyway.)
Personally, I feel that the current situation of Cookie☆ is not so good, or rather, there is a section that is growing sluggish. With the rise of voice dramas with synthetic voices (Zundamon, Yukari-san, etc.) and the emergence of HIKAMANI (Japanese top RUclipsrs "ヒカキン" edited into MADs), I believe that the people who used to be around Cookie☆ and inm have been drained by them and have become multipolar (not only on Nico Nico Douga but also on RUclips (The same can be said of RUclips as well as Nico Nico Douga).
Since 養殖Cookie☆ (contributor of しりり and 自己矛盾 etc...) in the late 2010s, there seems to have been no feature-length works that could be the source of MAD (This is because the community's population has decreased and it has become less vibrant I think).

God only knows what remmuh-san also had, but he also coincidentally quit the same time as Shiriri. This userbase/community is just too dangerous and it clear overstayed its welcome as ニコ厨 ran out any potential quality creators and ruined the overall health of the community (as well as UNEI).

I'm a bit curious, there are many "Cookie☆" character designs I have seen online such as Marisa in an all black dress and Nazrin with red eyes, do these originate from the original animation or from fan parodies? I didn't see them show up at all but its entirely possible I just missed them.
theres more than just the original voice drama, a marisa in an black dress sounds like RI姉貴, she comes from the cookie☆☆☆☆ voice drama, usually depicted as a male cuz of her deep voice, as for the nazrin, i believe thats kofji姉貴, she voiced nazrin in the eastern☆ voice drama

The designs are from the animations, with the names being shortened versions of their respective voice actors name, with aneki added at the end (e.g, nyon aneki, who you're probably mentioning, would be NYN姉貴)

Cookie has become almost an entity in its own right, with very little remanents of legitimate touhou mixed in. I'm mostly here for the funny animations and MAD's the people make on NND.
