In my case I gently filed the entire surface of my 2 big toe nails, thin. I then clipped them short, waited for them to grow out, clipping as needed. They grew out without any signs of the fungus. I thought of this, I didn't read about or hear anything about this way to take care of it. My motivation was if I eliminate the darkness contributing to the fungus survival it just might die ! I'm Sooo Smart 🤓 I tried so many things but refused to take drugs after reading about the side effects. It's been many years years fungus free, after suffering 13 yrs. It's free nothing to loose 😊

I had the issue for 2 years on my big toenail, not the whole nail but a streak the entire length. Anyway ive just about cracked it!
Soaked my foot in white vinegar (added a small amount of water) 3/4 vinegar at least, for 2 hours, 2 to 3 times a week and it's 90% gone. I might actually make a RUclips video as I've kept a record of it throughout. Taken about 5 months and counting but anyway thought I'd share.

  • @EnnVee959
    @EnnVee959 3 месяца назад +5

I have learned so much from this video and the comments. I did a 15 min foot soak in vinegar and water. I then took a pumice stone and rubbed it over my foot and I took a nail file and spent several seconds thinning out the nail and then scraping debris away from the edges. I also very gently cut away some thickened yellow white skin under where I cut the nail really short. I then dried the foot with a hairdryer, applied tea tree oil to the affected toes, Canesten cream to the foot, and dried with a hairdryer once again. The foot looks much better after the mechanical scraping and gentle cutting of thickened skin, after the foot soak. I am so very far from healed, for sure, but I feel a new energy of hope to heal this affliction of more than 30 years. My left foot is beige and healthy, I am grateful to say. I know that I must keep this routine up for several months before I can expect total healing, but I am so happy to find that with consistent care, there is a low cost solution to this embarrassing problem that is so depressing at the same time. I have never been able to find advice like this from any local doctor, and I tried some anti fungal things and it made it slightly better only. I did not know it is safe to wear down the nail with a file to gently expose the fungus and force the affected area to come into contact with the anti fungal such as iodine or tea tree oil or whatever. Thank you so much for all of this affordable and actionable advice.

I think the best treatment for toenail fungus is a combination of a good doctor prescribed topical medicine, good hygiene, letting your feet dry properly, regular pedicures and sunlight, and patience because it could take up to a year for it to go away completely. Invest in pedicure tools and clean and trim the toenail as far back as you can. File the nail down as thin as possible. Scrape and remove any gunk or dirt. Physically, get rid of the dead skin and discoloration. Now, the topical medicine can be effectively applied as recommended directly to the nail bed. After showering, air dry your feet with a fan before putting socks on. Repeat the pedicure weekly. Let your toes sit out in direct sunlight and let the sun literally burn the fungus away. Keep it up for a year, and the nail will heal. Consistency is the key.

I did the bleach ones as well so maybe I will throw that in the rotation. Even though I’m pretty sure that’s illegal because it says on the bottle that you were not supposed to use it other than what it’s directed for. But that will be our secret! Just have to test your limits.
Also, I heard someone say that Vicks doesn’t actually fix the problem, but it just gets rid of the discoloration. I hope that’s not the case.

Toenail fungus is persistent stuff. I can't take terbifine, but the one time I did before i had to stop to avoid liver issues, it worked nearly instantaneously. If you can tolerate it, don't mess with holistic treatments, I'd say. Yes, it's not cheap, but wow did it work.
I'm a little skeptical of diet as a cause, but what I've found is somewhat effective is a vinegar/baking soda soak followed by tea tree oil. That at least keeps the itching down.. I've also noticed that sunlight definitely helps. My toes like being in the sun at the beach...

There is a lot of medical advice available on this subject which often omits the part that socks can play - whichever treatment you elect to pursue. Most people wash socks (with other garments) using biological washing detergent at 30°C. Correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think that is hot enough to kill these fungal spore so the cycle of infection may not be eliminated ?
Therefore I have decided to soak my socks separately in a bucket of solution for several days before rinsing & adding them to a "general wash". ( The Chinese routinely wash underwear & socks separately from other items). My chosen soak solution is a combination of white vinegar & disinfectant. Warning: dont mix bleach & white vinegar - it produces invisible toxic chlorine gas !
    Any suggestions on this theme?

I've had nail fungus on my nail for years. I saw a video on RUclips a while back that said to apply "Decolorized Iodine Tincture" every morning and sometimes in the evening! I've been using this "Decolorized Iodine" for about six months now. My nails are about 1/2 grown out now and the new nail growth is totally normal, no fungus at all! Plus I stopped wearing socks to keep my feet warm when I sleep. Hope this helps! I got one called "GERMA, Iodine Tincture Decolorized, IODO, BLANCO" off Amazon, pretty cheap!

I live in open toed Birkenstocks, so that's not the problem. I'm trying iodine, Vicks next. Soaking in bleach H2o didn't do anything. Neither did spraying acv. Or 2 bottles each of 2 different meds. If this doesn't work or at least look like it, I'll look into having it removed. Not blowing up my liver on oral drugs. Even tho I've been protecting my liver with Milk Thistle for decades.

The only time I'm painless is when I sit. Have many more health problems. No one has been able to help me. Because of all that pain, I got very depressed. I sit in my darkened bedroom at my computer. My fingernails have no problem growing quite long. Have to clip them every 3 weeks. I can't cut my toe nails. The skin underneath is attached to my toe nail and they grow at a crazy angel. I do soak my feet. Make sure they very dried off. I apply a liquid for fungus to my nails and wear loose fitting socks to bed. I will try the Iodine on my nails. I truly hope that that will cure the fungus. I'm embarrassed to take my socks off at my doctor's office. I also have gotten some kind of skin decease. My skin is flaking off all over my body. Was giving Betamethasone 0.055% Ointment. The itching drives me crazy. Have scratched myself bloody. Been using that Ointment for a little over one year now and see no improvement. Might sound crazy but at least give this a try. When you are in pain close your eyes look at the spot that hurts (with them closed ) keep repeating to yourself 55515 55515 55515. Seriously the pain will lessen and eventually go away. Sunlight is very important for our skin. Spend what time you can with your bare feet on the earth. Meaning the grass not inside will help will all types of inflammation but repeating that number will reduce your pain level. Just do it with an open mind. Really truly give it a chance. Isn't permanent but will give you relief when you need it. ❤

Wow, learned a whole lot from this video. I also use a powered file with various tips to grind down my problem toenails and keep them short. It's not even possible on a couple of nails to use normal clippers or scissors as they've been repeatedly injured and how grow straight upward. Your explanation of blood flow really helps me understand this issue. The MD I consulted said the issue was fungus but from your video and others I see that it may be from repeated injuries and ill-fitting shoes, perhaps in addition to fungus. I've battled "athlete's foot" for most of my life. Was also glad to see your mention of bleach soaks, I learned about that from a veterinary student, and that remedy has helped me far more than only the topical sprays and creams. I don't recommend it for everyone as you can burn yourself, you need to know what you are doing, but I was desperate for something that works. That is not a 100% cure but it keeps it in remission for much longer. I still need to use creams and sprays on the feet. One thing about fungal toe infections, they can very easily spread to other parts of the body. From scratching after having first contracted the fungus in Jr. High phys ed, it spread to my fingers. That's why this is not just the mere annoyance that many people claim, you must be careful with contagion by touching. It can live on clothing, carpeting, etc. for months and longer. I've always feared of getting it in some place that can't easily be treated, even around the eyes for instance, and so this condition has basically shaped much of my life. It takes time out of a life for the special care every day. Not to mention the hundreds and thousands of dollars on OTC products that do not produce a lasting cure. I've never tried internal medications for fear of potential liver effects.

I understand the first step is filing/grinding the nail down, as much as possible so that any topical treatment is more likely to absorb.
However, regarding dipping just the nail in bleach.. is that diluted? If so how much of each? What about using Hydrogen Peroxide.. what should be the concentration? Or adding Yellow Listerine (Thymol) into the mix?
Regarding dermatophyte, any thoughts on over the counter .5% ivermectin lotion (usually sold for head lice)? I've also heard applying a paste composed of baking-soda + vicks vapor rub + Essential Oils (Tea Tree / Oregano / Clove / Garlic + Lavender Oil + Pro Clearz Toenail ‘polish’ (contains 1% Tolnaftate))
BTW, any thoughts on using a heat gun, or cigarette lighter to carefully heat the nail as hot as you can possible stand? Or using a UV-C light, either the kind used for disinfecting, or the lower-power kind used in nail salons? Ex. COOSPIDER UV Light Bulb, 36 Watts (E26 110V CTUV-36 with Ozone)? G6 Wellness UVC CFL 25W? 320W SUN X21 (72 Leds)?
It seems a bit dangerous to shine high energy light (that close to x-rays) onto your nail, where it will undoubtedly hit skin as well, but maybe it won't penetrate deep enough to cause dna damage?

      Robert, thank you for watching.
There are important reasons why hydrogen peroxide is not used to treat fungus infections.
Why doctors do not use hydrogen peroxide? Simply, hydrogen peroxide is actually detrimental to infection or wound healing. Oxidative power of this chemical prevents healing rather than promoting it. That's because its reactive power isn't specific to fungus, germs, or viruses - it may through aggressive oxidation damage or kill also skin cells. This is the reason why hydrogen peroxide - a mild antiseptic - is mostly used on the skin to prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns. Intensive foaming is a result of rapid separation of radical oxygen from hydrogen peroxide in response to mechanical disturbance of solution of hydrogen peroxide. Foaming is more intensive in fresh solutions of hydrogen peroxide and is stronger if liquid is stirred or mixed.
If reasonable, we would appreciate a quick rating from you, and a good rating makes a MASSIVE difference for us!

Why did you leave hydrogen peroxide out of you suggested killers of fungus ?
I had full blown foot fungus and the most successful treatment was a wash down after showers with HP and watching my toes foam up ! My treatment was successful within
1 week of twice a day after shower. I then followed up with some store bought anti fungal oil applications. I do follow up checks with HP from a small squeeze bottle with a twist pointed tip to flood each nails bed. Any foaming indicates a return. No foaming indicates successful follow on treatment.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE! Your hearing this from someone who had it on both feet. From my childhood any time me or one of my 3 sisters had an infection from a skinned knee mom FIRST CLEANED THE WOUND WITH Hydrogen Peroxide. Any white foaming indicated an infected wound. The HP cleaned the wound area and helped stop any bleeding. Then an anti infection sav was applied to the wound & a gauze & tape bandage. I’m sure you were treated very similar. SO… why is it any different with a fungi infection. HP when applied to any wound with broken skin that foams white foam is your indication of a infected area.
HP is the primary application to kill any bacteria/infection present prior to applying a healing sav then bandage. I see no difference with a toe nail infection. For overall cleanliness you should sit on a stool/ seat in your shower/tub and use a small squeeze bottle with a pointed tip to flood each tow nail area with HP! If it foams your on your way to a complete recovery
in the shortest time -vs- all the over the counter Fungi
Oils/powders/creams ect. ect !!! -vs- HP SQUIRTED ON EACH TOENAIL AREA and observe any foaming and it’s location and amount. Then turn on some good hot water and spray down both feet. Then REPEAT and observe any more foaming. I’d repeat this until there is no visible white foaming around your toes! Spray your feet again and prepare to dry your feet with disposable toilet paper and flush. Immediately wash your hands and rinse several times before touching any hand towels ( to isolate anything in your bathroom that you’ve touched. I’d have a simple spray bottle with alcohol to disinfect any surfaces you’ve touched. Observe a clean in to… and a clean out of procedure to/from your bath area… protecting others in the family! My personal experience had me following this exact procedure for 5 days AM & PM ! After the 6th day I could no longer get any white foaming around my toenails on both feet ! I’m sure this is PRECISELY what YOUR LOOKING TOWARDS ! Just diligently follow this simple routine for5dys or whenever you can no longer get a fHP foaming around your toenails !
Sounds a whole lot easier than all the little bottles & tubes of this and that for $$$
This is what I’m calling the ‘CHICKEN SOUP’ version. When you got sick as a kid… you stayed home so you wouldn’t spread what you had to others. That’s what this method does where ALL THE OTHER METHODS YOU’VE
READ ABOUT ( and been told to ‘BUY’ thi$ or that oil, powder, cream…) how much does a big bottle of HP cost
$ 2/3 ! OH YES… get a dedicated large spray bottle with a tiger sprayer that your going to fill with HP to disinfect all areas and objects you’ve handled until your convinced your fungus is GONE! Don’t worry about the surfaces your spraying . HP
Can be used to gargle, rinse your mouth to eliminate any foaming you see around your teeth. It’s NOT going to affect you or the kids/ animals BUT IT SURE IS GOING TO KILL ANY INFECTION ON SURFACES YOU’VE ! Heck… you can spray your produce, potato’s in a Ben, fresh fruit, TOUCHED. Anything you’ve had go off on you before you’ve had a chance to eat it.
HP is going to be your new
BEST FRIEND around the house .

      @robertcrawley9980 Год назад +1

@@gigih.hammer306 if there is in fact ‘a fungus’ the application of HP would of definitely foamed. I can only speculate that it may be too early. ALL FUNGI RESPOND TO HP in a foaming manner. Your infection may be too early. That’s both good & bad.
Good in that your on top of it…
The best program you can follow right now includes hot water from your handheld shower head set on large directed streem spray directed at your toes pressed against the shower wall to expose the nail beds. The hot water directed at your toenails to expand them thru the hot water and pressure against the wall to further expose the skin around your toenails. Obviously the heat and water pressure are washing away some of the surface fungi and further exposing deeper fungi. 3 to 5 mins of this is sufficient. Soap and a back brush could also expose more surface fungi. Rinse well to not end up with surface fungi on your drying towel. Just to insure maximum avoidance of the fungi all washing rags as well as drying towels should be washed together and away from all other washings ! Once drying is over you can insure max cleaning by having some HP in a spray bottle that you can spray on your dry toes. Use a double thickness of paper towels on the floor to spray the HP on your toes. I also included a fresh pair of athletic socks to further limit any fungi spreading in my bed. A small amount of any sav ( Vicks, ect can insure any further fungi being released into your environment. If you continue to get no reaction from the HP being sprayed on your toes may indicate that you’ve beat the fungi at their own game. If their continues to be negative reactions from your hp applications you may well have beaten the little buggers ! If you can maintain the current negative reactions that you’ve described… you may well have beaten the little buggers. I still maintain a high regime of the procedures we’ve discussed JUST FOR my own assurance that I’ve beet it ! Your the best judge.
I’m ready to reattack at any of the signs that a fungi is reappearing… and we have a routine we know works ! ATTENTION TO DETAIL !

I got fungus on my toenails from a nail salon. At first i thought it was discoloration from the dark nail polish. I fight this everyday. Went to foot Dr had test to confirm fungus. He gave me a prescription right away. I had to go get blood work before he gave me the prescription. I did it first week i was good. Second week i felt like i was dying. I stopped that med. I soak my feet with vinegar and next day with Epsom salt. Dry with a towel and then with a hair dryer. Clean socks. I never put them on twice and wash them inside out. I put tea tree oil on a cotton ball and add a drop of castor oil. I use a new cotton ball on each toe. Its been about a year and they are growing out. Cme summer im not wearing closed shoes. Im going to the pool and sunbathing. I wish this curse on no matter one.

Thank you for this video 👏The sun and watching that sugary food definitely cure the fungus!
I personally had it on my big toe. Went to the dr and he prescribed pills for me and yes it did work BUT after all the meds were gone the fungus came back!! I didn't do the drug thing any more as it is hard on your liver. I started to get pissed about it and really did my homework. This is what helped me get rid of it once and for all:
    1. Sat in the sun, or if your able to just set your feet in the sun for 20-30 minutes a day
    2. Watch the sugar intake. Makes sure there is little to NO added sugar in your food.
    3. Drink lots of water. I also drank ginger tea
    4. When you get in the shower use that brush to brush away loose skin.
    5. use a blow dryer on your feet to kill moisture.
    6. This is optional but I used o'keeffe's healthy feet moisturizer.
*** If you have athletes foot, hydrogen peroxide kills it.

If you have a toenail growing down into your flesh, as you're treating it, put a bit of cotton in alcohol, squeeze it out, and insert it gently under the toenail to force it to grow out. I've been drying under my toenails with cotton and the tip of the nail gently after showering, then inserting the squeezed-out bit of cotton. It's been working very well for me. Most all of my pain is gone, and it's looking much better!

I am cutting/trimming on a weekly basis now, and using a nailgrinder (like a gentle dremel) to deal the nails that doesn't want to get cut with the clippers. Sunlight at the pool also benefits, but I can only get there 1-2 times a week for only 2 months or so. Probably should just give the bleach method a try.
