The urge to have ripped that nail off!
I'm a picker...ever since I was tiny, used to watch my dad do it to his feet and I picked it up as a bad habit. I'll rip nails til they bleed, I've picked the skin off the sole of my feet from heel to toe til every inch was red raw and bleeding. Impossible to walk on that!
I'm diabetic and stopped my yearly podiatry appointments because I got a stern telling off about wearing the wrong footwear and being barefoot at home.
I then discovered your channel and now I take care of my feet and I'm really proud that I've grown my nails and keep them trimmed and filed. I've no fissures on my heels, they're filed regularly and moisturised.
Thank you for your content, Toe Bro.
    Best wishes from England x

I dont know if you ever have occassion to view other podiatrists but one came to mind as you assisted this patient. Claudia Di Stillo from Argentina had a youtube channel titled podilogical integra. Dr Claudia has a routine of filing & buffing BEFORE clipping nails. It seems that in this particular case it might have been helpful to use that practice....thin the nail out a bit and then clip. You may have a reason for why this would be impractical. If so, Id be grateful if you could explain how or why this would be practical or inpractical. After seeing all of the poor people dealing with terribly painful feet; I am really greatful that I have always worn good footwear, moisturize and keep nails trimmed. I have plantar faciitis and fibromialgia so I thank science for my orthotics! lol Love your channel.

I had severe trauma to my left big toe (a free standing bar came down on the toe the tip of the toe opened like a flower) I knew I would lose the nail so I went to a Podiatrist and he took off what little was left. The nail grew back perfect.

I lost my big toe nail and it didn't attach at the top and it was thick. I got a liquid medicine from my foot doctor and kept putting it on and grinding the thickness out and it got pretty good but then I lost it again through an injury. I kept putting the medicine on my toe as the nail crew out even on the skin but I also kept sticking a needle in the skin to draw blood as the nail crew and it began to reattach the nail I kept doing this until the nail got to the desired length. You can't even tell there was ever a problem now!

For more than 10years my right big toe toenail grew detached with those similar lines. It didn't have a tunnel but I could turn it up almost 90degrees to the perpendicular. The part that remained attached was similar to the one in this video.
I used to cut the nail every few months. Wrote the dates on them n saved them. 😁
Unfortunately, on April 25th 2016, my right big toe had to be amputated due to an infection I neglected to get medical help. ☹️

@@janetburroughs7117 he was not ignoring him, he was acknowledging his pain, but doctors do need to finish the procedure to a level that it is well done, the patient has to sit through that to feel better. I mean would you tell a nurse to stop putting stitches on a wound because they hurt?

With that remaining nail, there is the possibility to ad an artificial nail on top / nail prosthetic.
After that treatment the toe looks just like a normal toe.
Here in Germany we use a system called Unguisan.
Crucial is that just a little piece of the natural nail is still attached.
Maybe the meticulous manicurist could help to make the remaining nail pretty again .
