    The frustrating thing about ingrown hairs (and I guess hair splinters; did not know that was a thing) is that they're usually too tough for the body to break down completely, but not tough enough to come out in one piece if you can grab the end with tweezers. Being embedded under the skin makes the hair soft and brittle.

    • @Call-me-Al
      @Call-me-Al 9 месяцев назад +2

      Hair splinters in my experience is easy go pull out if it's the first day or two you have it. Then again I have never ever known hair splinters were a real thing until my current partner. My hair is too fine and weak to penetrate skin even in short segments, and my three exes had too fine hair for that too. Ingrown hair on the other hand is an annoying constant of life.

    The thing about hair is it has scales. So when it enters the skin, it can't usually work itself out. Kind of like a porcupine quill, it just gets deeper. Hair splinters can be long, like inches.. Very painful.

    It is amazing how badly these hurt!!! I was working as a RN. Ater one evening of walking miles, my foot became more and more painful. After digging around, I found a hair about an inch long that had wound around and around into a circle. I figured it was in my sock and the scales on the hair itself drew it in with each step. What blessed relief to get that out!!!
