    Hello, Brazilian viewer here, just some quick context that might help understand the current situation from Brazil's perspective:
    The mayor of sao paulo that's running for re-election this year has been pretty bullish on motorsports recently, adding a Formula E round to Sao Paulo that was a success and even became the season opener for next year.
    FIA World Endurance Championship returned to brazil for the first time in 10 years attracted 70K fans to Interlagos, WEC is not even that big and it was a massive success, that's probably one the reasons alongside the NFL Sao Paulo game that pushed Brazil up in Nascar priority.

      Man, unfortunately Jacarepaguá was torn down for the 2016 olympics, the main complex was built there. It was a very very bad decision, because the place was one of the great laps of the country and could actually offer the option of oval racing (more like a trapezoid, but still) for Brazil (hosted a CART round between 1996 and 2000).
      Brazil has been learning to truly embrace motorsports and not just our drivers, we had a great crowd at Interlagos for the São Paulo 6 hours, even though endurance racing is more of a team effort.
      We have our fair share of history, especially on open wheel racing, always been a toast of motorsport fandom here. You mentioned why. We have 8 wins in the Indy 500, the only non US driver to win 4 times is brazilian.
      I'm sure that there will be interest for a nascar race here, despite not being our biggest motorsport community. The broadcasting has been expanded here, the group that owns the rights initially had a deal only for cable, but now they are doing free-to-air and youtube too. I'm sure nascar is looking into it for consideration.

    From Charlotte to São Paulo is about 4.635 mi (per Google), if you want a "São Paulo 300" you need to test first in Mexico or Canada and them move to Brazil, because the logistic could be a nightmare.

    Cup hasnt been to Canada since the 50's. For crying out loud, you could be at CTMP next year, and while the series is hung up on Montreal and racing there; CTMP hosted the Trucks and drew more fans for the trucks as a stand alone as they did anywhere. You cannot believe the crowds that Cup would draw.

    • @jeffreydanilko6657
      @jeffreydanilko6657 2 месяца назад +1

      I think a Cup race in Canada should be at Mosport (CTMP) and not just because I live 20 mins from the track. I don't think Montreal is a good track period, let alone for Nascar. The truck races proved it can put on awesome racing. I have been going to Mosport since I kid, the truck race drew more people than I have ever seen there. The hay days of ALMS didn't draw that many fans, especially for a 3rd tier Nascar series. A cup race would sell out immediately. As for the Clash in my opinion its dead. Speed weeks was a nice lead up to the start of the season, like pre season in the NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL. I think an exhibition race in Brazil in January is the best. I my honest opinion the Clash at Bowman Gray won't be any better than it was at the LA Coliseum.

    • @marklittle8805
      @marklittle8805 2 месяца назад

      @@jeffreydanilko6657 the Clash I could care less about. As for coming to Canada they should have done it years ago. The fact is they went to Montreal with Xfinity and they were in the city and it was exotic and the crowds were great. But the racing to me was a bit of a mess. I don't like srockcars when they are crawling around sections other cars fly through. Plus the track license operators in Montreal seem to act like NASCAR should be thankful to run there. That is why a deal hasn't been done. They can hold only two events a year on that track and yet they don't. So screw that because I am sure Ron Fellows and his ownership will do a good deal for both sides and NASCAR will be a success. The Trucks entertained and the Pintys series always puts on a good show . The only fly in the ointment is the pits may not be long enough and the downhill pits going into one are a possible issue. But that I think could be fixed

    Let's be real here...
    With the NextGen, teams can't afford to tear up their restrictor plate cars, which is the big reason the clash isn't at Daytona anymore
    Personally, I do like them doing it in warmer climates, but they've already shown there's no fan base in California anymore (because it's expensive) and teams don't want to go west anymore (again, it's expensive) so really, what option do they have? And at least with Brazil, it'll be summer in January (their seasons are opposite of ours) but again, the costs to send the cars there, then costs for the teams/drivers to fly there will be astronomical, and on top of that, the cars that are going have to be shipped 6-12 months in advance... Plus, what venue will NASCAR run? Because there isn't really a track in Sao Paulo anymore since IndyCar last went in 2015
    So yeah, there's still way too many details to iron out for 2025

    NASCAR is going to have to face the reality of either shrinking the schedule if going international. Personally, I think they need to do it anyway. Going back to 31-33 races and perhaps having a few of the tracks on a rotation makes so much more sense than continuing to have 36 races plus 2 exhibitions. With that also comes the opportunity to hold only 1 race per facility, which would give each event more value because fans would have only 1 chance per year to see a race at a given track. Less supply equals more demand. 3-5 tracks that aren't pulling numbers should probably go on a 2 or 3 race rotation so that people have incentive to go to the event when it comes because it won't be there for 2-3 seasons at a time, depending on the rotation.

    The financial concerns are fair and we here in Brazil also have a historic of being very volatile to politics and economics..
    But.. If IndyCar managed to run here for years without going out of business (actually was one of the best race for them) NASCAR can survive bringing some cars.
    I have to warn tough, NASCAR Brasil is a startup at best and right now is a support event for Copa Truck from all things, is not that popular and NASCAR probably lies before all the other major international racing series in recognition here, from F1 to Indycar and even WEC, an event like this can be a turning point but still a risk.
    My question is... where? Interlagos? sounds nice but I would not be suprised if they choose to run it at the Anhembi street track (where IndyCar and F-E had their races).
    About the NFL match you can bet your money this will be a huge success... Since Cairo joined the league it skyrocket in popularity here too...

    I can accept the fact that there won’t be a NASCAR Preseason Race at Daytona before the Daytona 500 (even tho it sucks, tbh), but if they’re gonna do races elsewhere before the 500, at least rebrand the event and call it a different name cuz a lot of fans are always gonna think Daytona when they see “The Clash”. I just wish that. Make it something else. You know, rebrand something old and make it fresh.

    Personally, I don't have any issue with international exhibition races. I mean, NASCAR was going to Japan in the '90s, and I think they went to Australia years before that. I just don't think it should be the Clash. I still think it should be at Daytona to kickoff Daytona Speedweeks, but I get that they're not going to do that. Just my opinion on what they should do.

    So first off, if anyone is gonna go to the Clash at Bowman Gray if it does get announced, I hope y’all stay warm down there. I live on the east coast as well, just a bit further north though, but definitely understand the struggle if it does be Bowman Gray as the Clash. But as much as I want to see the Cup Series race internationally, there r a couple of not a few issues I see here.
    1. Of course like what was said, traveling and timeframe between the Clash and the Daytona 500. Unless NASCAR wants to pay the bill for teams to head halfway down the South American continent plus half way down the US, not to mention the amount of time it’ll take teams to prep the cars for the 500, you’re asking a lot out of the teams. Especially depending on how the format for the Clash will be if it’ll be just Pole winners and Playoffs contenders from the previous year or be heat races like it has been. I would’ve preferred if NASCAR ran either Canada at Montreal or somewhere in Mexico to start small with something closer and then wiggle their way into something further.
    2. A big one too is the racing. São Paulo, we’re most likely talking about the Interlagos Circuit. Which don’t get me wrong is an excellent circuit, a massive fan favorite to F1 fans, tons of championship deciders, produces some good racing from F1 and even better racing from Sport Car racing like WEC. But the Next Gen car on short ovals and road courses is abysmal. It’s something that still needs work to it but NASCAR just doesn’t want to do any testing to make the product better. Ik it costs money to change parts up or do any changes to the car, but what’s the point in not putting a dent into progress to get great racing at short ovals and road courses if ya don’t do anything, especially if ya wanna race internationally where most of the tracks that r gonna be raced at r short ovals and road courses. NASCAR needs to do more to the car instead of removing aero pieces and then calling it a day and still have the same exact thing as years prior. Like from RealRadman’s video about the Next Gen’s problems, hear Hamlin and Logano’s comments about the underbody being where most of the downforce, maybe implement a minimum ride height rule like in sports car racing to lose out on some of the downforce from the floor, maybe we see a difference in racing even with the full diffuser and spoiler package. At least then teams aren’t spending so much on the diffuser since it’s not scraping so much, cars aren’t beaching on a flat tire. Knock out a few birds with 1 stone. Is there even need of a spoiler anymore with the diffuser? R multiple tire compounds the way to go now? Just test everything that comes to mind. Cause you’re talking around 20 cars around a road course if it is Sao Paulo at either Interlagos or the old São Paulo Street Course IndyCar use to race at, which street courses r 50/50 with the Next Gen, Chicago this year was the best road race this year, but if it is Interlagos, you’re gonna have a more boring race than F1, and even more boring the the Clash on the Daytona Road Course.

    If this is true, this is going to be a big step for NASCAR. Obviously, going international would not have been my first choice for The Clash. But if this is a potential direction for NASCAR, perhaps it might be a good idea to send it to either Japan for their exhibition race or race at the Thunderdome in Melbourne Australia. Just to bring back a bit of history for NASCAR racing internationally.

    If the National Football League can go to Brazil, NASCAR can, but moving football players is a lot less complicated... But heres the logistical plan NASCAR could use if they want to make it back to Daytona...
    NASCAR could load up all their cars and TV production inside cargo planes at CLT...
    Then they take the haulers and load up the Daytona 500 cars, so they're on time for Daytona, and once the event is over, they can meet up with NASCAR at Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500

    It is too bad that NASCAR can't go to Rio for the Clash & race at the same track Jacarepaguá that both F1 (1981-1989) & CART (1996-2000) raced at especially the old trapezoid layout that CART used. Unfortunately this track was demolished in 2012 to make way for the rowing facilities that were used at the 2016 Olympics with the grandstand being the only thing that remains of the track. However at least NASCAR is trying to bring a race to Brazil unlike Indycar who haven't made the effort to come back (despite being very popular in Brazil due to amount of Brazilian drivers in the series) since that street race they had in Sao Paulo from 2010-2013 on one of the worst road/street courses Indycar has ever raced on.
