FFXV had all the pieces to be one of the best in the series, the lore is extensive and the moments could've hit hard if we were given more time with the characters. The fall of insomnia at the beginning wouldve HIT if instead of just leaving it right away, you spent even just 20 minutes doing some beginning of the game tutorial stuff and running around the city, interacting with it's people and noctis' father. I felt nothing for his death because it was just setup, I knew nothing about him. The same goes for lunafreya, as soon as you get a chance to meet her, she dies. Why should I care about this when I've been given no reason to? Just wasted potential imo.
What hidden story? The Pittios ruins "story" was discarded some time ago, before the game's release and no longer exists in the game's lore nor is there any mention outside the dungeon.
I realized how amazing this game was after playing the Royal version. @@gootchimus so it actually added quite a bit, they fleshed out some game mechanics but if you cared for Noctis’s friends the dlc does add a lot to their stories and some different scenarios It doesn’t fix the game if you hated it but if you liked it, it’s more
He's technically Prompto's father but only because Prompto is an MT. And the Naga isn't specifying Prompto it's looking for it's baby because it used to be human but I don't think it's specifying Prompto.
Despite it flaws, I consider 15 my personal favorite. I moved halfway across the country with my wife to be closer to family, and left all my friends back home. And it was easy to apply my friend's personalities to Gladio, Ignus, and Prompto. Taking a road trip with my boys, finding my place in the world, becoming who I need to become, and finally letting go to save the world. That shit had me hurt. I cried actual tears when I finished the game. Truly an experience I won't ever forget.
The naga saying "my baby", or even the naga being prompto's mother could be a reference to Edward "Edge" Geraldine's devastating boss fight with his parents, who have become monsters
Isn't the Ardyn thing confirmed? Correct me if I'm wrong but there was a book released that was basically the scrapped stories of episode Noctis and Lunafreya where you find out that the gods are bad so Ardyn teams up with Noctis and Luna.
FFXV has properly introduced me to the series. I've heard about X and VII, and other installments before, but FFXV is the one for me. It is not only my favorite FF game, I think it's one of the best games I have ever played (and I played a lot of games). Everything about this game is dear to my heart - the cast, the score, the plot, the gameplay, the visuals. There's no game quite like this one.
The crystal doesn't let you travel through time Umbra does. That's why you have to summon Umbra to do it. And Umbra could already do it since that's how he would exchange the notebook between the 2 lovers.

For those who are considering to re-do the game after playing "day one" version only or simply to do the game for first time: PLEASE trust me and re-do the game with Royale edition + DLC Ardryn. I had a very mixed feeling after cleared the day one version on Ps4, so after few years I re-do it with Royale Edition + DLCs as with all the addition they made, and my experieince was like day and night. 😵 After lot of research online, I ended up having an ideal way to really enjoy FFXV game and lore as per below: 1- Watch KingsGlaive movie 2- Watch the mini series of 5 episode on RUclips to know about the childhood and early bonds of the group. (easy to find) 3 - Buy FFXV Royale Edition (Game reworked + DLC Gladio/Prompto/Ignis) + DLC Ardryn (not included in the Royale Edition). 4- VERY IMPORTANT : Check online a quick guide to explain you WHEN exaclty to do each DLC in order to have the best storytelling experieince possible. 5- JUST BEFORE the final boss watch the short Anime about Aldryn on RUclips (easy to find) If you do that you will have a freaking BLAST. Doing this reworked version on top of above guideline was an experieince way above just doing the game when it came out... Surely it became my favorite FF and I did it all since FFVI on snes. And the OST is so fantastic that it is second to only Nier Gestalt IMO. So if you are willing to give it a shot, really try to do it as proposed above, you can also double check other people guideline as well but I am confident it is the best possible way. 🙏 Additional and IMPORTANT Tips: - If possible do the DLC of Ardryn just before arriving at the very last zone (Capital in the Night) its really ideal. - Also if you have a good PC take the game on Steam. Playing in 4K 120fps is just a feast for the eyes even in 2022. - The game is not that difficult so remember it is not about just winning fights but about how you do it (like great BTA game), I HIGHLY recommend you to check "Asetoni FFXV" channel on RUclips to understand the full gameplay of combo and variation in all moves. I was simply BLOWNED away that it is actually super complex and full of variations making each combat feel 10times more awesome. - There is a actual training mode like a fighting game in the menu, its a bit hidden but highly recommend to try out all hidden moves and combos of each characters. - For those who did only "day one "version, please know that now you can now play all characters and switch in middle of fight! This on top of all hidden move/combos explained by Asetoni FFXV channel makes fight feel like day and night compare to your first run. Just make sure to unlock it in the skill tree as fast as possible (very fast to get if you focus on it)
Hands down best recommendation I've read. Did the game in a very similar way too actually and its a experieince that any J-RPG fan should do! Didnt know about this Asetoni channel though will have a look. Thanks
At 18:20, I like to give some thought about this which is heavily hinted at the items description such as potion, phoenix down and etc that told a bit about Noctis. I don't remember the details but it's said that the potion is working by the will of Noctis power. Sorry for my bad English
Just again. Most impressive. Your reverence for Square and FF history in lore is only met by your knowledge and research. You have pieces together so many questions I had. I finally had time to play FF15 during Covid and I was all in. I finished about 5 months ago and this has really put some closure to it for me. So thank you. And I have played FF since I was 10. It’s what got me into gaming. I am ashamed to admit I did not know about the hidden dungeon without monsters. And there were a few other loose ends I left. I think I’ll turn this on this weekend. Cheers
I enjoyed FFXV despite its flaws. This game had so much potential that was wasted. The last half of the game was so clearly not completed to the extent that the devs had intended. If you get out of bounds in Altissia or Niflheim, its very apparent that there was so much more planned. Definitely the most disappointing FF game I've played.
Totally agree with you there. It felt barebones. I tried so hard to enjoy it and even got the platinum trophy / finished the end game secret dungeons..after all was said and done I just sat there like, "well that was lame". Then they have the audacity to make you pay extra for "episodes", which was content that should have definitely been in the main game.
@@KrisBailey same here it was the first game i got for my ps4. The game was fun. But it still had the felling it needed more time in the oven. A lot of the dlc story's felt they where going to be part off the main game.
FFXV was hard carried by it's characters for sure. The combat is actually pretty fun too, but they made it way to easier to mash your way through instead of incentivizing playing the right way.

Absolutely adore FFXV! It's one of my favorite games of all time, I've done everything in the game and put in hundreds of hours. I think Square did a great job with all the odds against them. Can't wait for FF16 whenever that comes out!
I feel sorry that ff13 and 15 had mixed receptions but it really had great stories. And this is why no other rpg can replace final fantasy franchise as my top rpg to play. No game does rpg like final fantasy. It's game story is deep and it has well thought off lores which make the games "living" even after the credits. I especially love ff15's hidden lore in pitioss. It was just beautifully crafted and every detail (such as the rock of ravatogh, disc of cauthess) makes you replay the game and see the world with awe. Even if the open world feels barren (i cannot deny it) it's only monsters and entrances to the dungeons, every detail had meanings and somehow tells you the lore of ff15.
The hidden lore of Pitioss isn't canon or relevant to the game's lore. The patch 1.16 about the War of Astrals and the love of Ifrit and Shiva destroy that idea that Tabata himself discarded back in 2015 from the history of the XV. That is, it has no relevance in the game.
Oh yeah, the depth of Noctis’ 3 cutscenes to establish a connection with Stella or Lunafreya or whatever her name ended up becoming. It was such a “shock” when they killed her since we had so much time to establish a connection with the depth she didn’t really have…!
My theory for the ring effecting the kings of lucis and noctis himself less is that it has already taken it's cost for using it. When you put on the ring and you are not of royal blood it takes something from you if you are worthy in exchange for limited use of it's powers for a short amount of time. The reason why kings can use it with small effects is that their entire line will end with the king of light is the cost, in addition to having to guard the crystal and ring until he appears. And Noctis's cost cost is having to die.
The game was breathtaking, but still even with all the companion releases still felt incomplete. It's a real shame because everything in the game was soo well executed but the story itself. I still want Square-Enix to make the story complete. If the player completes a game and still has questions yet to be resolved by the end of the game, the game is not yet complete excluding intended ominous endings by the developer.
Agreed. I loved 15 but it felt like a lot was missing from the story. Like Luna her character hardly got any justice. The game was missing so much that it left me with more questions. 15 had so much potential. I still love the game and had a blast once we got all the updates and DLC. But even then it wasn’t enough to make it feel complete. It’s a shame. Hopefully square will revisit 15 some day but it’s probably doubtful.
Also a lot of world map content was cut off, which is a shame, sure they don't make sense story wise, but what if they made it be with enough time, also leave some of those areas as after completing the game unlockables, also an mercenary mode where you could hire and customize aranea for money after beating the game, like the chocobos system, explore the mini Islands on boat or getting attack by sea monsters whilst sailing and many more things.
@@austinclark5278 who is Luna? You mean blonde girl that dies 5 mins after meeting her? She had a brother that was important probably too? This isn’t a game that took 10+ years to make, there’s no way, it’s a rushed mess. Wish that it got the love and care of all of the other game in the FF series
I remember completing the Pitioss Ruins dungeon, hopping into the Regalia type f and crashing it into oblivion on accident. The game didn't auto save after completing it. Therefore, having to do it all over again. That was the last time I played FFXV lol
FFXV is definitely my favorite FF game with X right behind it. It honestly has so much going on for it both in game and lore. I hope people give it a chance again .
I think you nailed it around the 7:30 mark where you said something about the age of the internet and Metas, how they can make a game somewhat boring. I honestly try to avoid learning anything about a game until I make a playthrough or at least a majority of the first playthrough. Im in my late 30's so I remember not having quick gamebreaking info at my fingertips. It was much more fun to actually try to figure it out yourself, and talk amongest other friends about what you had discovered. It sounds stupid, but it feels like the "magic", the "unkown", the "discovery" in games is lost in modern gaming. Great video.
Who tf is looking up metas for first runs of FF games? We aren’t playing a competitive game where metas kinda matter. And the games main story itself is extremely easy.
I hate when people criticize the combat. Why spam warp strike to make it boring on yourself? You do it to yourself. Also with the attack button. Like yes you can hold... But why hold? Move around, jump attack. Attack & wait then Attack again for a different strike animation. Its like saying the elemental magic is too strong. Yet every weapon slot is equipped with elemental magic. Keep Doing It To Yourself. So besides complaining on how you make the game easier and less exciting. Play it differently maybe you'll get a kick out of it. Great video my man
It felt like a game with massive potential in the first hours of playing. But then the feeling of huge parts of the game beeing cut/ unfinished rose tronger and stronger, until the game was finished and I was just like "but were is the rest?". I felt pretty letdown I have to admit, though I enjoyed the game a lot nonetheless (gamplay, vast world, a lot of weapons and the glorious soundtrack and stylistic design were top notch). I just hoped so much that they would fix the numerous story issues and questions with some dlcs, but that hope was unfortunately quickly lost. Still, I would play the game again. Just with a lot less anticipation.

Ngl I had the time of my life with this game. Kinda reminds me of some of the bs me and my friends would get up to on road trips. It really brought me back into gaming after a long period of losing interest.
Uematsu was the lead composer on FFX as well. He also worked with other composers on 11 and 14, and did the ending theme for 12. The man is a legend. 🤘 great video!
@10:25 The car you're speaking of that was featured in Kingsglaive (said to be the personal car of Prince Noctis himself that was being used by the characters of the film to make the general public believe he was still in Insomnia at the time) is known as the Audi R8 Star of Lucis. This is the vehicle that Square commissioned Audi to produce a single IRL variant of, not the Regalia as you said (which is King Regus' personal car loaned to Noctis for his road trip).
I really love the last theory, it kinda checks out for me. I see Ardyn as more of a tragic hero where, after understanding that he will never be the True King, accepted and went along with Bahamut's plan in order to rid the world of the scourge. After consuming all FFXV media.. It kinda felt like Bahamut was actually the true villain, one who gospelled such a tragic and cruel string of events for the humans to go through in order to save themselves, perhaps out of spite to punish them and Ifrit for causing the humans to eventually turn on the gods after they were advanced enough.
Lunas character is the only character to not get any justice. The game was pretty great especially after all its updates and DLC. I just wish we got more on some characters.
So this is really sad , i don't know if this iceberg was made before of after the kh3 DLC but we really need to update it because there is so much more to this than you actually mentioned. The main big point is Quadratum from kingdom hearts that Nomura clearly made obvious that he wanted it to be a reimagining of Versus XIII. We had glimpses of it during the secret ending and the DLC Boss is Noctis. Furthermore , i feel like there is MUCH more to say about what was actually done with the game before it became XV. Noctis had a condition that required him to take drugs and that would make him end up kill luna himself and the wedding was first a coup to take over insomnia and the crystal , you can see clips where they fight in the city with soldiers and mechs on the old engine they were first working on. There is so much more to say about this. This game was dissapointing for sure but during the entirety of it i was like "man , they should've let Nomura do his art" Well now he's actually doing it within KH4
I've struggled to get into this game. Own the Royal Edition and have about 6 hours of play time but strange enough the combat gameplay is so easy I tune out and feel detached from the game. I feel like I'll need to find time and try to finish it at least once.
I like for "A woman's touch section" Cindy, a mechanic that story wise should've only been a footnote was mentioned before Lunafreya, the supposed heroine and bride to be of the Main Character noctis. Then again she has the biggest "plot" in the game if you disregard shiva in size and possibly tied with Aranea. No disrespect. Just felt they did some of the cast dirty.
Noctis isn't a teen. Official sources and he himself in spin offs and other game collabs say he's 20. The audi r8 was his 20th bday gift. Cindy's japanese name is Cidney.
I wish you could've summoned the Celestials in the game like you could in 12. I know they're huge but they could've implemented it somehow. Other than that I loved exploring and playing this entry. Such a beautiful game.
The magic key refers to the magic key you get in FFI nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts. I know you churn these out pretty quickly but take some time to cross reference and check your facts. It’s seems you got more than this wrong according to the comments.
You forgot Vivian Westwood product placement, in game is a famous designer from Altissia and made Lunafreya's wedding dress (which is a real life design by Vivian Westwood from one of the collection from... 2014-2016 ?? Minus the sleeves)
I really wish this game was a bit more complete. But it's still one of my favs. It's a slighty bitter love I have with this game, playing it you just know it was supposed to be a bit more rounded, however I find that actually adds to the story, the crisis that the characters are in is excentuated by the lack of a well rounded experience. I definitely need to give this another playthrough
I loves this game and played it many times till the final patch was released on the PS4. The patched version adds alot to it and warrants a replay if you only played it on release
That opera on ffvi seems also parallel to Shakespeare's Book also I like the theory on Ardyn cause in his episode in the anime it showed ardyn going on a journey to heal the scourge if I'm not mistaken
This game is my one and only platinum trophy....still remember what a pain it was trying to land the vehicle in the exact spot to gain access to Pitioss dungeon
Been looking forward to this one, secret of mana still would be a great video, Persona 5 or maybe Undertale/ Deltrarune. Keep up the great work my friend.
I was sooo disappointed in FF VX.. especially after waiting on it for literally a decade. I know a lot of people did enjoy it, which is great, but it just fell completely short of expectations for me. It was unsubstantial for a Final Fantasy game and felt far from finished. I did love the FF 7 Remake though, and it feels like they took a lot from VX's mechanics and refined it to make the gameplay more engaging.

FF15 wasn’t perfect but it was a blast for me, the Royal Edition is as complete as this game will be and it’s worth a look for FF and non FF fans alike
I only played the vanilla version of the game at release, how much did the characters dlc and whatever the royal addition actually add?
@@gootchimus so it actually added quite a bit, they fleshed out some game mechanics but if you cared for Noctis’s friends the dlc does add a lot to their stories and some different scenarios
It doesn’t fix the game if you hated it but if you liked it, it’s more
He's technically Prompto's father but only because Prompto is an MT.
Yes but the book isn’t canon that’s part of why it was scrapped. Only the game and Ardyn ending A is canon. The novel is not.
Cindy is Cid's grand daughter, Still a great video tho
My bad
Always catch right after you upload I love XV thanks for including it in the iceberg series 😃
I keep waking up on random days with these icebergs to digest before work. Its awesome!
Glad you enjoy it!
@@Maker1 just do me a favor! When you make the secret of mana video, try to make it a Monday for me. That way I can enjoy it twice in a row without having to go to work.
Lol. I'll certainly try!
I thought the "magic key" thing Prompto was talking about was a Dragon Quest I reference.
mage masher was in earlier FFs before 9. although a few were named a little differently, their effects were the same - chance to inflict silence on enemies.
After lot of research online, I ended up having an ideal way to really enjoy FFXV game and lore as per below:
1- Watch KingsGlaive movie
2- Watch the mini series of 5 episode on RUclips to know about the childhood and early bonds of the group. (easy to find)
3 - Buy FFXV Royale Edition (Game reworked + DLC Gladio/Prompto/Ignis) + DLC Ardryn (not included in the Royale Edition).
4- VERY IMPORTANT : Check online a quick guide to explain you WHEN exaclty to do each DLC in order to have the best storytelling experieince possible.
5- JUST BEFORE the final boss watch the short Anime about Aldryn on RUclips (easy to find)
If you do that you will have a freaking BLAST.
Additional and IMPORTANT Tips:
- If possible do the DLC of Ardryn just before arriving at the very last zone (Capital in the Night) its really ideal.
Thanks
That's a crazy amount of stuff to do, just to enjoy a game properly.
That said, I'm probably going to do it lol.
@@randalthor2859 Agreed, but its really really worth it IMO :)
You have to solve a puzzle to make the game looks good... i see all planned by the dev staff. lol
tbh i prefer a completed game.
@@dylanclbr5292 i know. And the monster hunting system need work the fact that you can only go after one at a time. Is really sad. And was not fixed tell much later. Is disappointing
@@chrisgonzalez5883 They did actually fix that, I don't know when exactly but it was before the Royal edition. You can take up to like 10 or something.
Wait, just saw you mentioned that they fixed it, my bad. That's what I get for replying without reading everything.
As a life long FF fan the 13 series and 15 are among my favorites
Many hated them but to each their own
@@kazimierzliz8280 don’t forget music .
@@kazimierzliz8280 same
Oh yeah, the depth of Noctis’ 3 cutscenes to establish a connection with Stella or Lunafreya or whatever her name ended up becoming. It was such a “shock” when they killed her since we had so much time to establish a connection with the depth she didn’t really have…!
I believe Ardyn's "erase me from history again" comment is regarding how he was locked away and forgotten by history.
Lol but for real I loved this game and have so many hours played but it just could’ve been so much better. This game if any proves that developmental hell really means developmental hell.
Man I remember crashing so much trying to land I actually cried sksksksk
Never trust autosave lol
Just happened to me after my second play through last week. I deleted the game and have since decided to play the ff7 remake
Great video my man
FFXV was soo good. I was really confused half the time about the lore, but the gameplay made up for it
Thought I was the only one confused by the story, cause it seemed almost all over the place

Royal edition with all DLCs is what the original game release should have been.

Ngl I had the time of my life with this game. Kinda reminds me of some of the bs me and my friends would get up to on road trips. It really brought me back into gaming after a long period of losing interest.
The combat in this game was so sick. I really enjoyed this game because it brought back Final Fantasy.

There was a third dlc episode canceled about Commander Highwind. The only of the 4 to get his released was Ardyn.
Anyone remember the demo for this game?
@10:25
The car you're speaking of that was featured in Kingsglaive (said to be the personal car of Prince Noctis himself that was being used by the characters of the film to make the general public believe he was still in Insomnia at the time) is known as the Audi R8 Star of Lucis.
This is the vehicle that Square commissioned Audi to produce a single IRL variant of, not the Regalia as you said (which is King Regus' personal car loaned to Noctis for his road trip).
“There are 2 real world product placements”. Doesn’t even mention Cup of Noodles.
The romance!! jokes aside late game when you're olden buds it is really heartwarming. Its like "these are good friends"

FF15 should've gotten a sequel, the lore was superb
Is that before or after all the DLC ?
@@chaosakazero after, there's still so much they can flesh out
So this is really sad , i don't know if this iceberg was made before of after the kh3 DLC but we really need to update it because there is so much more to this than you actually mentioned.
This game was dissapointing for sure but during the entirety of it i was like "man , they should've let Nomura do his art"
Well now he's actually doing it within KH4
You missed the product placement of Coleman camping gear
The fact that American Express is in the game is wild
I feel like alot of people liked FF15 until they find out how much was supposed to be in the game
LOL at Frodo Baggins hahaha!
Gilgamesh lost his arm in his trial fight with Cor.
I've struggled to get into this game. Own the Royal Edition and have about 6 hours of play time but strange enough the combat gameplay is so easy I tune out and feel detached from the game. I feel like I'll need to find time and try to finish it at least once.
The only good thing about 15 was the novel retcon which made Ardyn the hero and protagonist of the story. Noctis and his buddies were just sidekicks.
I watch iceberg videos for the plot
I'm surprised this iceberg for 15 is so short
I like for "A woman's touch section" Cindy, a mechanic that story wise should've only been a footnote was mentioned before Lunafreya, the supposed heroine and bride to be of the Main Character noctis. Then again she has the biggest "plot" in the game if you disregard shiva in size and possibly tied with Aranea. No disrespect. Just felt they did some of the cast dirty.
The lore of this game is AMAZING!
I see you mentioned Noctis being part Astral... but definitely should include he and his lineage are knights of the round ;)
Great video
Thanks!
The music was so good
The magic key refers to the magic key you get in FFI nothing to do with Kingdom Hearts. I know you churn these out pretty quickly but take some time to cross reference and check your facts. It’s seems you got more than this wrong according to the comments.
What about all the Coleman gear at camp and billboards in game?
The patched version adds alot to it and warrants a replay if you only played it on release
saying that the little weasel only appears in Noctis's dreams makes you wonder if anything actually happened because it gets photographed a lot......

I was sooo disappointed in FF VX.. especially after waiting on it for literally a decade. I know a lot of people did enjoy it, which is great, but it just fell completely short of expectations for me. It was unsubstantial for a Final Fantasy game and felt far from finished.
I did love the FF 7 Remake though, and it feels like they took a lot from VX's mechanics and refined it to make the gameplay more engaging.
the car in kingsglaive is an Audi R8. 5.2 Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) is the engine and Quattro is Audi's all wheel drive system. Just as info
