    "how to approach fights as Malthael"
    first go against 2 tanks and a deathwing

    Great video. Interesting build. I think I would've liked to see a Malthael guide vs a comp that wasn't so stacked in his favor, however. Very rarely do people go 2 tanks and a DW.

      In draft modes, these cases are where Malhtael will get drafted. Compared to most heroes, he has very clear limits. SO he doesn't get picked that much as a generic solo laner.

    Take -Healing and Final Curtain. This style is what to use in Brawl as well. Final Curtain lets you add -healing from a safe distance to defenders when your team is pushing or taking an objective. Very useful combo that people don't really pay attention to when you use it. Lets your team poke much better.

    Just want to add, since NotParadox not mentioning it, malthael use unstopabble to counter deathwing's fear. That means he use his unstopabble for offensive uses, not defensive like every other malthael. You can see the example at the fight at 16:00.
    Seriously man, its like competitive players are different breed alltogether.

    Massacre basically is tormented souls on steroid if you think about it, i always take it. It also have another benefit which is catch range target when they stay near marked target like range creep. The AOE is huge, the cooldown is short and with the help from fear the reaper or trait at 4 you can stick to any target you want.

  • @MrZanvine
    @MrZanvine 3 года назад

    I play maltheal a lot and Massacre is pretty much a 100% must pick. Cold hands is only useful if you've got a target marked, but massacre is like a mini version of the tormented souls ult, which let's you spread your mark easily, let's you engage on favourable terms.

    i've been using this build everytime i played malthael, but this video showed to me that i should be more active in going in and out,
    i often stayed inside too long since usually i took tormeted souls and used it to dashing between target.

    this is my normal build and I only really switch it up at level 7, if you're going to be a tank killer and team fight you NEED fear the reaper and inevitable end. Throwing shade and mortality are the only ways to not run out of mana late game, mortality also sets up last rites, if an enemy is at 45% health you can safely press r w q q and watch them pop

  • @Exozik
    @Exozik 3 года назад +1

    I played Malthael quite a lot and I would say that Massacre feels mandatory for me. There is so many scenario where you can tags people off quickly. People tend to move away from each others when you get in and marking them all become too tedious to be worth the time.

    • @phaseshifter3d455
      @phaseshifter3d455 3 года назад +1

      The slow from cold hands is REALLY good. It stops a lot of people from walking out of range out last rites, or to help your team secure kills, or even to peel for someone. Also, most of the time, if your enemies are close together, you always have time to get an auto attack in after the W, so you can usually spread your trait without massacre.

    Regarding the first ult - don't be afraid to just say it's a bad ult, trying to justify this as "a little extra damage" is just not correct. No need to twist yourself in a pretzel.

    • @phaseshifter3d455
      @phaseshifter3d455 3 года назад +1

      Blizzard actually shared their data on Malthael a while back. Tormented souls and Last rites have the same win rates. The belief that TS is worse/ bad is mostly player perception.

    • @m0nZt3r
      @m0nZt3r 3 года назад

      I meant the usage of the ult at that time, was premature and pointless, not the ult itself.

    • @onkelpappkov2666
      @onkelpappkov2666 3 года назад

      Communication tips and tricks:
      - Give a timestamp (7:57).
      - Name the ult (Last Rites).
      That was confusing because "the first ult" could mean Tormented Souls as NP said it wasn't meta, indicating that it wasn't good.
      This is an Edward&Bella level of miscommunication based on being a little too lazy to say words. Use words!

  • @willbaskin700

    i will say @notparadox the area of massacre is much larger then his aa, helps when you want to focus on dodging over autoattacking.

    The 16 talent doesn't work with the 7. I tested it a couple of mouths ago. Look at 16:06
    I really think that not a lot of people know that. In fact, I think Blizzard don't know about this bug.
    PS
    As a Malthael Mean, I think Final Curtain is not that good with the W and E talent at 4 at 7. Normaly you take that if people don't get the trait, but with both of these talent, you wont get this problem. That is why I don't like this 20 in general. This talent is situationnal for me.

    Just today I had a match where the enemy picked double tank so i went with malth but can't do anything because every time i went into a teamfight instantly died. The enemy has a lot of CC and their hypercarry melted me down even when picked the armor at lvl13.

    I really have nothing to add or ask about Malthael himself, so I'll ask about Valla: second time in a row I see a high level Valla pick Strafe. Is it meta now? Rain of Vengeance feels so superior. O.o

    • @szebasztianturbucz308
      @szebasztianturbucz308 3 года назад +2

      Strafe is more dmg from a safe distance. You generally want to go Rain when the enemy has diver assassins, or on maps where teams are likely to get clumped together. Plus, this time the enemy team had a DW and 2 long ranged squishies that you most likely won't hit with the stun.

    • @micheltanaka2420
      @micheltanaka2420 3 года назад +2

      @@szebasztianturbucz308 Your first point makes sense, but I'd still take Rain of Vengeance as follow-up to another CC (say, an Ana dart, a Malfurion root or a Garrosh throw). Even when the enemy lacks diver assassins, Rain of Vengeance could still be huge as a follow up. It does require at least a bit of coordination though, and even within teams, this is not always possible.
      Your second point makes even more sense. I had not thought of it this way, and indeed, Rain of Vengeance would be useless against this particular composition, even as a follow-up CC. :-)

    • @phaseshifter3d455
      @phaseshifter3d455 3 года назад

      I think either could have been picked. But RoV has nothing to interrupt from the enemies. It it would have less value than usual. I guess it could be used as follow up to Garrosh throws, but since Garrosh didn't get much throws before 10. It makes sense to go Strafe.

    • @chungocminh5336
      @chungocminh5336 3 года назад

      Not root yourself, kite machine and work well with trait at 1. RoV is more aggressive skill to me and work incredible with q build but sometimes i still take strafe in q build if i need dps or kite, strafe also fill double q cooldown timer.

    I personally disgree that Cold Hands is meta at 7. Any half decent Maltahel knows to take Massacre as 7 as spreading your trait is key to your survival and damage. It's pretty much like taking Tormented Souls but at Lv7.

      @Exozik 3 года назад

      Exactly

    • @phaseshifter3d455

      Cold hands secures kills, guarantees enemies cannot walk out of Last rite range, and you can use it to peel for allies and prevent deaths, as well as help allies secure kills. I don't find applying my trait too difficult during team fights. I pretty much never pick massacre, and I currently have a 91% WR with Malthael.

  • @szebasztianturbucz308
    @szebasztianturbucz308 3 года назад +3

    Not sure about this one. There were tons of misplays and the build was also weird. Doing W build is most of the time better with Tormented souls, since you get to spread that 8% max health dmg from the 16 talent about 4-5 times in a teamfight, essentially taking 50-60% hp from multiple targets, but you get taken out more easily without Q talents. Lvl 4 E talent is garbage compared to the other two. Even if you don't need die alone, it's still better than shade and you can always just go black harvest for some extra trait dmg. Wisdom at 13 would've been better here too, since 90% of the enemy team's dmg is spell damage and there weren't so many cc to unstoppable and lose your trait value.

    • @LegsON
