    1. Remain sideways to not get stuck with your own lasso
    2. Don't force your lasso foot into your opponent's elbow space if he is closing it, instead, frame his shoulder and push to open the space and circle your foot.
    3. Don't let go of sleeve grips if the opponent is getting away / kind of sprawling
    4. Kick lasso foot out when opponent stands up
    5. If your opponent steps over your bottom leg into half guard, come up on your elbow and bump him to make him post with his opposite hand so you can free your trapped leg
    6. Don't let your opponent pin your hip
    7. Don't let your opponent hold your collar, frame with your hand and your move upper body to break it
    8. Don't let your opponent hold your sleeves, frame with your leg if needed to break the grip
    9. Don't let your opponent hold your pants, kick the leg and pull the lasso grip to break his grip
    10. Never let go of the secondary sleeve grip, it is needed

I've been loving your videos! They've been really helpful in my Jiu-Jitsu journey. I ran into a situation recently during training that left me scratching my head. My partner was passing to the opposite side of the lasso guard, and my leg (not the one involved in the lasso) ended up on the completely opposite side, rather than between their legs. I'm a bit unsure about what the best move is in this situation. I know it might sound like a basic question, but I'm eager to learn the right approach to deal with these scenarios effectively.

As a new purple belt and an old skinny guy (51 & 150lbs) I'm still trying to figure out what my 'A' game is or will be. I've had good success with triangles and am trying to integrate more lasso into my game, after playing with lasso for a few years I have only recently begin to have more success with it. I like the control and slowing things down. Your instructional's have been playing a HUGE roll in developing my lasso game. Is there any reason not to use a pistol grip? Thank you for your time and effort in helping us out!!

These are great. All your lasso videos are so good. My biggest problem is when they stand up and just run around my lasso.

He doesn't directly address this, but you should use your non lasso hand and foot to make frames and stop them from doing that.

Thanks for the videos. Really terrific. So a question, please. What to do if he breaks your non-lasso hand grip and gets outside your lasso leg. Do I abandon the lasso grip? And just try to get my knee in front or high leg? Or hang on to the grip? Then what?
