      Gordon and Duck: *Arguing about the Big City's Main Station*
      Henry: Should we tell them?
      Thomas: Nah. I'm just enjoying this show.
      Cam (My OC): They're just sharing one braincell at this point.
      For those desiring context, Cam is an OC I created. His engine class is an E3 Tank Engine; a modification of the E2, which is Thomas' Class. The modification the E3 have is: Running on oil instead of coal by using the oil to power a furnace that heats up the water.
      Cam was the prototype E3 Tank Engine and he was experimented to see how well electricity would work in Steam Trains. The way that works is that when the wheels turn, it's slowly generating electricity that is stored in a power box. Once the box is full, the Driver presses a button in the cab with a gauge that can only be activated when the gauge is full. Once the button is pressed, the electricity is forced back into the wheels, making the engine faster and stronger than usual.
      Cam is the only one of his class though. The common theory as to why is because of accidental file mismanagement so the creators couldn't get his stats to see if he was a success or not. Because of this, no more of the E3s were ever built. Unlike Gordon, Cam didn't let the novelty go to his smokebox.
      In terms of Cam's personality, he's a friendly, helpful, and hard-working engine that always gets his job done. Because of this, he is extremely relied on when other engines ( *Coughs* James) refuse to do their work. He can get quite angry when his friends are hurt or threatened, but he'll do his best to make things right again.
      Sorry about rambling for so long. I just put a lot of thought into my OC. I first created him in 2020 in Minecraft, along with a bunch of other official and fan characters, and I'm still going with creating more characters. I probably won't talk about them, but I might change my decision on that. I hope everyone enjoys reading about my Thomas OC.

    This is something else. You have the rare ability to breathe new life into old stories that have been done a thousand times over. You should be immensely proud of the work you've done here. Nice touch having Donald in this as an engine from the other Railway as he certainly was for a time. As an Engine that would have once served under LMS it makes sense that he would have been sent to Euston if he was going to visit London at all. All in all a very refreshing way to breath new life into a classic story.

    This has to be one of the most unique adaptations of Gordon Goes Foreign. For one instead of the Big City Engine, it's Donald which serves as a nice set up for 'The Twin Engines'. Second the ending where Gordon and Duck resuming their argument even after Gordon finds out the station name is. That's something other adaptations never did and its a funny addition. 👍

  • @sodormailcoachstudios
    @sodormailcoachstudios 9 месяцев назад +34

    Honestly, I shouldn't even be surprised that you keep blowing me away with each new video you pump out. This was a beautiful adaptation of "Gordon Goes Foreign". The character banter, the visuals, everything really makes this story pop. I really appreciate how you included Duck's reaction to the station name, yet he, and Gordon, are still the same engines, just with different arguments. The subtle bits of humour (such as Gordon's "ethical" way of getting to London) are also worthy of a mention, it's subtle, yet you can still tell when it's happening, that, in my opinion, is the best usage of humour. Having Donald be the foreign engine was a really interesting choice (albeit, one I like). For one, I'm glad you didn't go straight for "Default Douglas", but instead used his visits to Sodor as a subtle set up for the plot, and for another, I'm very appreciative of the fact you didn't use everyone's default for the foreign engine. Also, given Gordon's line as Donald left, I do hope you're considering doing an adaptation of "The Twin Engines", if not, it's something to consider, as that would be a brilliant set up. Honestly though, I'm wasting my time putting my opinions into words, because this wonderful video has taken them right out of my mouth. Brilliant work Rhys, I do hope you'll keep up the go- no, great work. Have a great one my friend.

    • @ciarangleeson2880

    • @sodormailcoachstudios
      @sodormailcoachstudios 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@ciarangleeson2880 I more so mean Rhys uses Douglas as a foreign engine quite a few times (Paint Pots & Queens and A Close Shave). Rhys, however, used Douglas' visits as a plot set up for the argument between Gordon, Duck, and Donald.

London IS those four stations, you should learn the map and THEN you'll be proven wrong for all that your worthless argument made."

    Absolutely in love with this! I love how you continue incorporated the twins as previously visiting Sodor (Close Shave being the first example). Not to mention the comedy and face mixed is top notch!
    My only critiques are
    • The late time placement of the title card into the video: perhaps it could appear at the station with the BCE whizzing past the screen and transitioning to the next shot.
    • The sudden outburst of aggression from 'Team Euston', which works for a presumed arrogant like BCE in the books who probably work daily trains from the big station. Perhaps a more confused initial response would work for an engine such as Douglas like "King's Cross? I'm sure it was Euston when I was there" and then Gordon being doubtful makes Douglas insist more and more aggressively.

The dynamics between the characters are fun, the fact that you voice all of these characters on your own is awesome and the humour is great (I now headcanon that Henry is terrible at shunting thanks to you). True; As they are engines of respective railways they all believe that London has one big station.
      However, London has multiple stations, the LNER (where Gordon’s from) is Kings Cross, 57646 (Donald) is ex-Caledonian Railway which absorbed into the LMS, which serves Euston, the GWR (where Duck a.k.a Montague is from) serves Paddington, and there is many more too, such as Waterloo and Victoria (served by the Southern Railway) and Liverpool Street as well (which served the former Great Eastern Railway)
      So technically, none of them are wrong, they just can’t get the idea of London having multiple stations through their thick smokeboxes…

    The joke works of course because each of the big 4 had their own London terminus stations. Gordon was there as an LNER engine, and Kings's cross was their main terminus, Duck' as he tells everyone, is Great Western, who had Paddington as their main station, and Donald was Caledonian railway originally, but would probably have first seen London after his railway became part of the LMS and kept running on that part of the network after BR was founded. The LMS station in London was Euston. Also makes sense that Given Gordon was going to London from Sodor that they'd route him via the midlands mainline ending up in St Pancras. Also, St Pancras is literally next door to King's Cross, there's only Pancras road between them! Gordon was probably less than 300m away from where he pulled up at his old station originally and never even knew!
    Makes sense too that Thomas would know London had more than one station. He was from the London, Brighton and south coast railway originally, and even in those days there were a whole bunch of stations in the south of London alone. (Kensington, Victoria, London Bridge, Clapham junction etc) Any southern engine would know London had multiple stations.
    The only question being if he ever had time to find that out, seeing as he was sent to Sodor almost new, in the same year he was built. But then so was Gordon and he had time to visit London first.

    So considering donald is just a visitor in this interpretation I can only assume this would be before he and his brother were bought, or they're new life is with another railway that was willing to take both without the need of a deputation.

    I love the new thumbnail! I especially love the detail of James and Henry looking annoyed at Gordon, Duck, and Donald. By the way, if the Big City Engine had lines in this video, what would he say to Gordon when he was blocking his way, and after Peter fell into the turntable well?

    What's funny is the whole argument when it was Big City Engine, is that the stations they stand for are those of their respective companies. Gordon LNER, BCE BR and Duck GWR.
    Also the coloured eyes are jarring but nifty.
