avdol was removed from the series three times wasnt he? 1.) "died" vs hol horse 2.) voomed by vanilla ice 3.) got stuck in cactus in sbr feels bad to be avdol
goddamn the sbr version of avdol suffers the same fate that guy joseph went up against in part 2 before reaching the camp. and people say him killing dogs to show the villains maliciousness was a running gag.
He's Egyptian so it should be Abdul Offcourse the A is not pronounced like the English A it's ع Also there's another problem No one is named abdul There must be another name after it (usually one of Allah names or a prophet name since abdul means slave) Eg: abdulrazzaq abdali abdulrahman.....
I actually really like the vanilla ice death, but it was certainly harmed by it being his 2nd death. Just watching someone vanish from existence was so unlike any other death in Jojo so when it happened it was unbelievable that he was dead. It wasn’t until and episode or two later as the fight continued and avdols death truly sunk in
ReelyReed I dislike the Vanilla Ice death for Avdol simply because he died too easily. Would have been better if the three fought, Avdol then died after the first part of the fight, and continue on as normal
Poolturtle thing was that Iggy already had the role to die mid battle. Avdol dying at the mid too would have not had the same effect it did with the fear factor from the start. It might have been cool to see at least some action before he died, but the way it played out wasn't bad to begin with. Just unfortunate that Avdol already went through the dying and also reviving process before, which was weird enough for the most part.
OmegaMalkior That Yeah, But Avdol was too important for my taste to have him have died like that. Personally, I would have kept him dead after the Hol Horse fight, to serve as a reminder to Polnareff what happens when he tries to act out on his own
Avdol was a good character to me, he was soo underrated he was basically the straight man/Wise character of the Star Crusaders. I loved his friendship with Polneff, and the Fact that Polneff became more serious and not just the Comedy relief Character. Nice Video Grandline Review.
O k Yeah Advol Became like That in order to fit into the group But Polneff showed him that it was okay to be himself. That episode where he died again was annoying but it showed what Kind of man he was.
@@shonenbois yeah ik. It definitely didnt hit me hard, the first time was so shocking. I had a feeling he was gonna die all along since episode 1, but I didnt expect it to be then, so sudden. I expected Dio to do it. I think replacing Avdols return with Hol Horse woukdve worked much better. Either that or replacing Kakyoins death with Avdol, cz at the beginning he feared Dio but his final moments would be him showing What Dios power really was and overcoming his fear Smthn I kinda hate is when multiole characters in a show escape all kinds of danger which appear Impossible only to die at the end, as if the writer was saving their deaths to when they've fulfilled their uses. However, at the same time I like it cz we spend as much possible time with these characters.
They didnt even have to really kill him. Just say he's in a coma or the hospital barely clinging to life. And then were waiting till the end of the part wondering "is avdol ok?"
@@apetitan2936 I didn't mean " oh i disappeared midway though the part, but now i'm back for the final battle" I meant for more of either a consolation prize in the ending narration" hey most of your friends might have died, but at least you still have avdol" or alternatively " hey i know this day is already pretty shitty, so might as well tell you now, your other friend died"
@@mmcgee0922 i was always kinda pissed more old characters didn't show up in part 6 as allies or enemies. Evil baby would've been a bit older than jolyne. Invisible baby would've been a bit younger. Oingo and boingos return, all with advanced and upgraded stands
Imagine if instead of kakyoin, what if it was Avdol who fought and figured out The Worlds time stop ability. It makes sense when you think of it, Avdol was one of the smartest members in the group and could analyze what the situation was to tell the crusaders what was going on. And it would be a fitting death for Avdol, as he instead of running in fear from Dio like he did the first time, he stood his ground and fought, even though it costed him his life. Also keep Kakyoin alive, he didn’t deserve to get killed off
It WOULD have been amazing, but Kakyoin is also smart, but unlike Avdul Kakyoin didn’t serve much of a purpose so if he wasn’t the one to find out Dio’s ability he wouldn’t have a defined role in the story. (Exception for Death 13) plus, it’s tragic ending for a guy who just found friends only to die at the end. Avdul’s death also suits him in that in his panicked state the first thing on his mind was to save Polnareff and Iggy.
As far as we know heat still exists in stopped time so we could've gotten Avdol turning himself into his own personal Chernobyl and DIO would have to figure out ways to get past the immeasurable heat.
I think Okuyasu resurrection was handled pretty well. When avdol came back I was confused, but when okuyasu came back I was happy. It was helped by the fact that he wasn’t stated to be dead and I really didn’t have time to mourn. And his “death” helped with his character development, unlike avdol.
Yeah, Okuyasu's return perfectly wrapped up his character arc, and his return actually served a purpose because he helped defeat Kira. Avdol returned just to die. Seriously, he doesn't even have a single fight after his return.
@@megashark1013 he was a main character in the Mariah fight, also in the cameo fight, was sorta of a narrator in the d arby fight and had he's moments like when Polnareff finds the beggar and explain why he's there to Polnareff. He did a lot not to much but still he was there.
Iggy's death was pretty brutal but there's just something about an important character like Avdol getting snuffed out like nothing that really bothered me
"Araki freestyles it" is the least surprising reveal since Lisa Lisa turned out to be Joseph's mum. Nah for real though, pretty sure Araki does always have an outline for the part and some of the important details planned out from the start, he just makes up the little things as he goes.
@@dominict9325 Ye, like the fight with Cioccolata was originally meant to be fugo but due to Araki's mental state at the time didn't want a close friend to betray the gang.
"Avdol is alive!" "Oh we already knew that" I think it was *supposed* to be a slap in the face. Kinda juxtaposing the reader with Polnareff's reaction.
I’ve always said that it would’ve made more sense to have Polnareff die vs Vanilla Ice and Avdol survive. By having Polnareff saving Avdol in that fight it would’ve left him with a complete arc from the Hol Horse fight. On top of that, doesn’t it seem like Avdol was more fitting for Polnareff’s role in Part 5 then Polnareff was? Avdol was always the guy who was the most knowledgeable about Stands, so having him be the one searching out and researching the Stand Arrows would suit him well. Magician’s Red Requiem sounds terrifying though.
Seeing a more mature Polnareff was way more impressive and it was sadder what happened to him because his life really sucked, Avdul didn't have a harsh life.
I mean, we don’t really know what his life was like pre SDC, but considering he grew up in Egypt, not the most peaceful country in the last few decades, it’s not unthinkable to say that Avdol’s probably seen a lot. Or at least enough that he has a lot of life experience. Plus, if he did survive SDC, he would have to deal with his friends deaths like Jotaro and Polnareff did
Polnareff grew more as a character, and has more of a punch into the story than Avdol for the audience. People were hyped the f up in his return in part 5 but it wouldn't have been the same with Avdol honestly.
Avdol's death was used as a point of character development for Polnareff, and I think that was the purpose. Polnareff learned the value of his partners, and the crusaders knew that he needed to smarten up. ... however, killing Avdol again was double lame. You can't kill a character you've already killed and have it work the same way.

His first "death" was effective... his second was... yeah, did he really die? Well, he disappeared... 2 arms left... did Avdol stuck in another dimension? Where things go inside Cream? So many questions. It was totally not clear at first he died (again) or not... And then Iggy's death overshadowed the whole thing... Maybe what made me emotional was seeing their spirit... but then again... it was Iggy's death that was so impactful. That was well done but killing Avdol twice? Really? I like though he didn't die for nothing. And that foreshadowing with saving yourself thing was nice. He basically said he won't save other than himself and the others should do the same. But Avdol actually sacrificed himself for Polnareff and Iggy... To be fair, Stardust Crusaders have lots of issues with writing, it's clear Araki was experimenting, was clueless about many things. He didn't plan ahead, he retconned some stuffs because he realized he can't really handle them well. His writing improved a lot after that. And the second part of Stardust Crusaders was definitely stronger.
Literally one of the most deserving if "Just your opinion" comments I've ever seen. I didn't mind, it didn't affect me negatively, I rather liked his death VS Vanilla Ice, it's very like him. Not everyone needs character development, sometimes it's good to just see someone act as themselves.
He should have at least had more fights and screentime before his death to make it more impactful, we barely knew him. His whole character seemed to exist just to develop Polnareff
Thomas Southwell I can see that but then I remember he pissed in a dude’s breathing tube and I wouldn’t describe that as honourable, funny but not honourable
Botched resurrection: i don’t remember the book, but some guy got nailed to a piece of wood, hung up like an ornament in the desert, left to bleed out and waste away. Then three days later after being locked in a cave he just walks out, i means seriously... wtf is up with that. Like he was god or something.
Whenever I would revive a character in a story I would do that with a lot of negatives. Like they're no longer who they were before be if mentally of physically. Resurrection should not be a good thing. If Araki changed it so Avdol would've been different (considering getting brain injury can change people) it would've been great. I have to disagree with the Vanilla Ice part though. It was shocking to me. How fast it went, no goodbyes like say with Zeppeli in Part 1 but instant and no time to even mourn him since the enemy's still there and terrifyingly strong. His final death was a brutal one, kind of like in real life where you can't always say goodbye to your loved ones.
@@ChromaticEagle Bruno was useful later he was leading the gang he was almost the main characters, is characters arc could not be complete if he died. Is ressurection was explained by rolling stone . Avdol spend the time after is being brought back on the sideline and he died again for polnareff sake
When Avdol died the first time It was so impactful, then he was brought back in a really lazy which I still kind of enjoyed, but his second death I didn't actually feel like he died I was actually expecting him to pop out any second when I realized he was actually dead I felt nothing
I was so conditioned to think that the deaths would be very dramatic that when Avdol actually died I was shocked at how rapid and quick it was. Iggy by contrast (In the same damn episode) got a much more dramatic death so I knew he was done. Seeing both of their ghosts at the end made me pause and say “Wait Avdol is actually dead?!”
Tbf Buffy died because the series was cancelled, so she was never really was supposed to come back. I remember my uncle rewatching that finale over and over while crying for like a week
JoJo mondays? Hell yes!!! I don't agree that characters being brought back negates emotional impact of their previous "death." The experience you felt the first time stays and is genuine. The real reason Avdol was brought back is to have the magnet scene with Joseph. Bur yeah, part 5 deaths are by far the best & most emotional. (When it comes to anime at least) That's one of the reasons why it's my favourite.
I completely agree, both his resurrection and his second death were very badly written. I really loved all the crusaders and as much as I love the memes that came with his resurrection I too felt nothing when he died a second time. Especially if I compare it to the death of Iggy which hit me HARD. I feel like Araki robbed me of the sadness I should have felt due to a hand full of wrong decisions he made with the character.
The whole idea of hol-horse joining the crusaders i think should of legitimately happed. It would of gave a good send off for avdol but also would of been a redemption for hol-horse because the crusaders wouldn't trust him,i mean how could they and with dio perhaps seeking to betray hol-horse like he did to johnathan all those yrs ago but hol-horse relizes this and tries to eliminate dio,but it doesn't go well and now the others that dio hired have permission to hol-horse on sight.Hol-horse relizes he messed and the fact he couldn't kill dio causes him to come to crusaders. It was polnareff, iggy and hol-horse who fought cream instead near the end.
@@michaelwhitmire9015 Hol Horse could be a crusader, c'mon, he appeared in 7 different episodes, he was one of the most memorable "Monster of the week" characters
DrewX86 I disagree, killing him off and then bringing him back made us believe he was safe only for him to be killed by Vanilla Ice. Imo the fake out death made his second death more shocking.
I agree. I remember when Avdol was brought back, and Polnareff was all happy and joyful (as was I), and then the other members of the group were like "duh, ofc he was alive. You're such an idiot." I felt so offended lol. Like.. NO! it was not obvious because no one ever mentioned him again after his "death". And poor Pol has been psychologically torturing himself for a long time, adding the guilt of him losing his younger sister too, having suicidal thoughts, letting himself being devored alive because he just couldn't keep living with his guilt anymore 😭 and the group never ever told him that Avdol was alive? Despite them knowing how depressed and guilted Polnareff felt??!! Unacceptable. I was so angry at all of them. You just don't disregard psychological issues, Araki! 😭😭😭🔪🔪🔪

Because I'm not the friend that says, "I told you so" after something traumatic like that happens, that's why I really felt for Polnareff, because even though he got himself into this mess, I know he would still need someone to be there for him, emotionally, instead of making him feel worse about his actions :0 I hope I'm making sense?

That moment when NewWorldReview dismisses Jonathan Joestar as a boring character, and yet at the same time he likes Muhammad Avdol ... I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but this is a really weird one

Giorno couldn't heal Bruno's entire body so the best thing he could do was repair his spine, flesh, and parts of his organs, explaining why Bruno is a zombie.
Avdol has always been my favorite crusader since I first saw him (dude, getting JOTARO out of the cell is instant woah). I thought Kakyoin may take that spot since he's the genius of the five but it never happened. The few fights he gets are amazing, his design is simple but extravangant at the same time, the concept of a fortune-teller is always cool, and I really love how he tries to be the voice of reason most of the time. Also, the major reason why I came to love Polnareff as a character and not as a comic relief. He's pretty underrated and overshadowed by the others, which is sad.
Also with Buffy she was supposed to stay dead because the WB dropped the series and they wrote it to end the show but then UPN (wb merged with later to create the cw) bought the rights to it and added two seasons
The ONLY time I've seen a character death "fake out" work well was "Full Metal Alchemist". Every other series failed horribly. What makes Avdol's situation worse is that he died, just to die again. At least other series would have the character do something outstanding or useful to justify their position.
I really enjoyed the death of Spoilers for Stein's gate Mayuri The attempts to bring her back had an a strong and traumatic affect on Okabe And the only way to bring her back was to sacrifice everyone's wishes that were granted by the Dmail it allows the secondary characters and Okabe to grow while still having her alive again Her "resurrection" had consequences
At first, i felt exactly the same about avdol's second death, but when the image of him sitting in a dark void with both his arms chopped off came to me, i felt really sad for him. Imagine sitting in a spaceless dimension and thinking about your life while bleeding out, that crushes my soul. His last moments were nothing.
To be fair, he could cauterize his wounds and stop the bleeding. He still got stuck in the shadow realm, though. I'm not sure how to get out of it. I liked the character and was shocked when he died because, like real life, it was so quick.

Sounds like he's a discovery writer...one of the downsides of being a discovery writer (especially with the manga industry), you'll run into issues like this at times, others times there will be pretty unsatisfying endings.
I like how he actually died because it showed how powerful Vanilla Ice is and how easy it was for him. Plus the part when Polnareff sees both Abdul's and Iggy's souls.
I agree with everything you said cause when I first watched sdc I cried my heart out the first time Avdol “died” and when he actually died I didn’t really think he died I was actually thinking he was gonna come back some how and when I saw his soul leave with Iggy it hit me
I actually liked Avdol coming back. I was upset when he was “killed” by Centerfold(J. Geil) and Hol Horse, but it was far too early in the part to kill off a main character and I was happy he was brought back. Having him “die” gave Polnareff some development, but that would’ve been one of the only cool and notable things he did if he died for real. Besides, his return was pretty epic. I don’t agree with him dying for real against Vanilla Ice. If he was going to die anyway, what was even the point of bringing him back? If you’re going to resurrect a character, keep them alive. But, I do think his real death was executed better.
IMO. Have it be Polneraff that dies and Avdol that survives. This shows the fans that Polneraff has learned his lesson and was willing to save Avdol something that Avdol did and Polneraff decided to return the favor and die so he can live. This gives Polneraff a good ending to his character development and starts a new ark for Avdol which then has Avdol take Polneraff's spot and he could die so Giorno and the others live which has him get a better send off then what happened in the original timeline
In my opinion, a couple of extremely subtle/small twitches when Avdol was on the ground (when Hol Horse shot him) could have made a world of difference for his actual death scene, and it could have been played off as: “Polnareff didn’t notice.” And for the actual death by Vanilla Ice, he could have been destroyed a lot slower, and like yelled out, or something, to make it seem a lot more feasible, and played it off as some sadistic tendencies.
I feel like Avdol should have had his own spin off after the fake death from Hol Horse and we get to see him intercept stand users and character growth while he is healing up and rejoining the group, the end would have him buying the submarine and going into disguise on the island when the crusaders arrive. We could have internal conflict in this moment alone, where Avdol doesn't feel like he belongs in the group, and decides that he would play a alter ego if you will to get more along with the crusaders only to realize near the end that it is okay to be himself. We could even see some flashbacks and see how close Avdol was to Joseph and how Avdol had met iggy.
To be fair when he died the second time my mind was made up that once vanilla ice swallowed his arms he’d show back up to save the day... I was wrong so it hit fairly hard, again
I feel like the story would have taken a very interesting turn if Avdol died in the Hol Horse fight. As you said, Pol and Joseph are the comedic relief and Jotaro and Kakyoin are very serious. With Avdol gone, these sides would have likely crashed and caused rifts between all the crusaders. Maybe it would be through personality differences or how they dealt with the enemies or even disagreements on how to finish off Dio. This might cause them to break up and go their own separate ways and have their own character development independent of each other, which culminates in the ending fight with Dio, where they go back to working together and finish him off.
It seems like I have a slightly different take on Avdol’s death. Sure for a while I was sad, it was surprising that Avdol was out the game so soon, but this being jojo I fully expect he might come back. Same with Stroheim, dude blew up and still cane back. Of course then knowing that Avdol came back once I kind hoped that kakyoin might come back too, and when he didn’t it hurts way more. Idk if it was intentional but damn if it was Araki is a genius.
Honestly his Hol Horse death was perfect because Hol Horse was just a random villain. He wasn’t like DIO or even Vanilla Ice. He was just … some guy with a gun. And Advol was the most expirenced guy there. It really shows any of these Stand Users can win against the crusaders if there not careful and i wish more Jojo deaths weren’t caused by the main Villian.
Killing Polnareff instead of Avdol against Vanilla Ice would have been way better, because I feel like watching Polnareff die after surviving so many times before would have made a greater impact than Avdol dying. Also, killing Kakyoin wasn't a good idea, because his death seemed almost out of nowhere and has little effect on anyone else.
I remember when I watched with my sister, I knew what happens because I read the manga. My sister was convinced he was alive the whole time until we saw his ghost. I thought the same thing too when I first read the manga. “He’s probably alive. Everyone loses arms dude.” I mean this was Araki’s first time writing a monster of the week story so ehh.
It's funny that even the Dub voice actor for Avdol felt the same way with his deaths. When he died the second time, he was like "That's it, I kinda prefer my first death."
Honestly, I have a way bigger problem with another crusader, that being Kakyoin. I don't find him interesting at all, because I feel like I din't even got to know him. All he did way stay in the background, and I feel like Araki intended to make him stoic like Jotaro, but it just didn't work , in the case of Jotaro we got to know him well and how he thinks, and he gets in action a lot of times, while kakyoin just appeared, fought Jotaro, fought some 2 guys and disappeared for half of the series in a super unsatisfying way. I guess Araki wanted to give a sense of danger by one of the crusaders being taken down by the first Egyptian God, but choose to trow kakyoin away, when we didn't even got to know his personality, motivations and even how he felt. And the flashback at the Dio fight just made me lose it, it felt like a last minute excuse of a character because Araki forgot to actually make kakyoin a character
Poor Kakyoin suffered hard from the Worf Effect. It's a bummer that he got reduced to a meme because of his supposedly undefeatable attack being so ineffective.
I'm loving this JoJo content. You have a very unique and professional insight which is incredibly refreshing to hear. Good work addressing the Avdol shaped elephant in the room.

@@guildmasterri5995 You understand that a review is a subjective interpretation of a piece of media, right? I'm free to respond to it in literally any way I want. If those videos were an objective analysis then I'd understand your problem but reviews are a personal response to the stimulus presented. And here's something very important: Just because an idea is well fleshed out, does not necessarily make it interesting. I understand the widespread motif of fate. Does that mean I have to like how it's implemented or reject how I felt in response to a particular part? Absolutely not. That's a review.
@@NewWorldReview I get that thing but you should still do some research before making videos like this, there are a lot scenes which were anime only like narancia death flag wasn't as big, fugo disappeared because of a reason which got covered in interview and purple haze feedback was made after that, I don't have problem with your review but some of your details are wrong like stardust crusaders wasn't long in manga, david production stretched it way too much and made it boring.
@@guildmasterri5995 You're still missing the point of a review. My opinion should be based on what I saw and nothing more. I should not need to research or dive into extended media to form a response to how I felt to the original piece. Once again, for a more analysis based discussion then yes, yes I would. However those videos were subjective reviews that do not require such a thing. And as for Stardust Crusaders being long, it was 152 chapters. That is an incredibly long time to tell such a simple story and quite frankly, the fact that it was all able to be condensed into 48 episodes is miraculous and very well paced. It's the actual content of Part 3 that makes it feel dragged out.
Also Avdol is very bizarre to me.... As far as I know he's the only person in part 3 I think that has a stand that wasn't given to them by Dio or inherited as a joestar.... Like I feel like that definitely could have justified him coming back if they filled in some of the blanks and made him more interesting.... @Med Avdol, Polnareff and Kakyoin had their stands since birth and also Iggy because there are only 2 ways of getting a stand, arrow or born with it, and the Speedwagon fundation didnt have any arrows during all of part 3, so Iggy was born with a stand
@Med I dont know for sure, but if someone from your familly before you (dad, mom, grandfather etc, even grandgrandfather/mom) there is a higher chance for the next generations to get a stand
I think my all time favourite resurrection in Fictional storytelling has to be Jason Todd AKA The Red Hood. Due to the fact that due to his resurrection it was he who had changed as a person and not the other way around. He didn’t go back to his status quo which is the reason resurrections happen in the first place.
I usually agree with everything you say, and I mostly agree with the overall argument of this video, but I could not disagree more with the idea that Avdol’s “second death” was not as impactful as the first. For me, the image of Avdol’s severed arms and the description of him being tossed into this black void was so horrifying. It made Vanilla Ice so threatening and I actually felt it was much more surprising... That’s just my opinion, though. I thought the first death was honestly kinda dumb and I have always held that it could have been left out of the story altogether. Again, just my opinion...
Honestly, I hadn't even considered Avdol coming back. On the island, I thought that Polnareff was being attacked by Avdol's father as revenge for Avdol dying not that an enemy stand user was on the island
You should make videos on tropes you hate and love you can make a series out of it and it'll allow you to talk about different animes and manga you enjoy
The only difference with Pell he wasn't a man character and him being alive doesn't matter in the long term story now if they brought ACE or Whitebeard back then that would be garbage
Magician red also can use his flames to speed up your body reaction and actions, he used this to tackle polnareff out of the way of a fucking bullet, which even silver Chariot without Armour can't react and defend against
Well, Araki was still at the start of his biggest franchise, having only 7 stories on his back, and as he said in his interview, he realized that bringing him back was not really a bad idea, but how he really killed him was. And of course, everyone has this problem, you have an opinion now, but the next second you have changed your opinion entirely. Also its the fact that its the first part with stands, he prob didnt even think of Vanilla Ice Cream when he first killed him. Another thing, I think his resurrection was handled ok, could have a little bit better, but this of course meant 2 things, either dont kill him again, or kill him for real, but as you said, if you play your card once, it wont work again. It would be cool if Araki decided to rewrite the first jojoverse (part 1-part 6) with better story telling. Basically think of a sandwich, the same start and end, but with a different content. Have the same characters, same plot but different decisions, like the timeskip which for me is kinda stupid and doesnt make sense and etc you got the point. And part 7 is part 1 its just a different version, not the same things
I think grandline review hasn't done a lot of research when it comes to how Araki feels or what he felt while writing part 3. The fact that people legitimately think, Advols death fake out is bad is so annoying to me. To me it's one of the best uses of death I've seen. Avdol seems dead, it fuels a characters motivation to get better whole at the same time he's not just doing nothing, he's gaining a sub for them to get to Egypt undetected but then it shows that it doesn't matter, not matter what Dio would've found them, they can't escape or hide from him, and to me that's one of the best uses of this story telling technique.
I got spoiled when so I already knew Avdol wasn’t dead when he was shot so I actually felt really sad when he died to Vanilla Ice. I got spoiled watching the second opening early then seeing Avdol there too.
i really dont like resurrections, first of all it f£^$s with my emotions, removes tension, removes any risk since if it happened once,it would happen again and,its NEH,and it pulls me out from the story.
@Zavphkuiel i dont know how it ended but if you talking about reset,Jojos part 6 also has a reset, all that character development gone in a single chapter...
I do agree with most of what you said in the video. I personally, haven't felt that disappointed when they brought him back because I was already accustumed to Jojo characters JUST avoiding death. I do wish, Avdol actually did more in the story or his abscence would be felt more, like have one enemy that Avdol could have defeated easily, but without him, the crusaders now have to find another way or fill the void (no pun intended) he created. Or simply do what he did with Kakyoin later, and have him just be injured.
@@DumbRum16 No its not, it's used in compound names like "abd ul r'ahmen, or abd ul karim" sice abd ul means " slave of or servant of. There is literally no arab that have the word abdul alone as a first or last name. But since Mohammad Abdul i assume it's used as a last.
@@DumbRum16 abdul what ? that is the problem , your name can't be just '' servant of '' , abdullah is abd ul'llah '' the servant of god'' , but abdul on it's own , nah
The "resurrection" thing is funny, Polnareff wished for his return and instead got a zombie clay doll. Then Avdol shows up, he disguised himself as his father and lived on that island to heal.
Without Avdol's resurrection Polnareff would have been defeated by multiple stand users (Cameo and Vanilla Ice) and Joseph would be elevator food. I don't understand how you can say he didn't do anything important post resurrection and it was meaningless, that's just ludicrous. Also, this is strictly my opinion but Avdol's second death hit harder for me than his first. It showed very plainly what the crusaders were in for now and what they were up against. The "intangibility" of his death you described is what makes it so painful and real for many people, myself included. Sometimes people just die for no reason.

I actually really like the vanilla ice death, but it was certainly harmed by it being his 2nd death. Just watching someone vanish from existence was so unlike any other death in Jojo so when it happened it was unbelievable that he was dead. It wasn’t until and episode or two later as the fight continued and avdols death truly sunk in
Agree honestly. With how abrupt his revival was, a death following to it even more a abrupt felt weird. Tho on it's own it was more than fine
Personally, I would have kept him dead after the Hol Horse fight, to serve as a reminder to Polnareff what happens when he tries to act out on his own
I like the incidental nature of Avdol’s death as well. There’s something jarring about it that makes it feel more...real?
Avdol was a good character to me, he was soo underrated he was basically the straight man/Wise character of the Star Crusaders. I loved his friendship with Polneff, and the Fact that Polneff became more serious and not just the Comedy relief Character. Nice Video Grandline Review.
“straight man”
Laughs in joseph
Avdol became more light and humorous- I'm sure we all remember the most hilarious episode where he and Joseph were stuck together
Either that or replacing Kakyoins death with Avdol, cz at the beginning he feared Dio but his final moments would be him showing What Dios power really was and overcoming his fear
Smthn I kinda hate is when multiole characters in a show escape all kinds of danger which appear Impossible only to die at the end, as if the writer was saving their deaths to when they've fulfilled their uses. However, at the same time I like it cz we spend as much possible time with these characters.
They didnt even have to really kill him. Just say he's in a coma or the hospital barely clinging to life. And then were waiting till the end of the part wondering "is avdol ok?"
ETHAN Franco Araki already did that with Kakyoin tho
@@apetitan2936 I didn't mean " oh i disappeared midway though the part, but now i'm back for the final battle" I meant for more of either a consolation prize in the ending narration" hey most of your friends might have died, but at least you still have avdol" or alternatively " hey i know this day is already pretty shitty, so might as well tell you now, your other friend died"
And maybe make him return in another part (and I don't mean part 7)
@@mmcgee0922 i was always kinda pissed more old characters didn't show up in part 6 as allies or enemies. Evil baby would've been a bit older than jolyne. Invisible baby would've been a bit younger. Oingo and boingos return, all with advanced and upgraded stands
@@TheBigE9999 That would be pretty cool idea.
Also keep Kakyoin alive, he didn’t deserve to get killed off
Imagine having Kakyoin in either part 4, 5 or both
It WOULD have been amazing, but Kakyoin is also smart, but unlike Avdul Kakyoin didn’t serve much of a purpose so if he wasn’t the one to find out Dio’s ability he wouldn’t have a defined role in the story. (Exception for Death 13) plus, it’s tragic ending for a guy who just found friends only to die at the end. Avdul’s death also suits him in that in his panicked state the first thing on his mind was to save Polnareff and Iggy.
That would have been way too good writing for Araki. A writer that does not plan some things or go back and rewrite is just an amateur.
As far as we know heat still exists in stopped time so we could've gotten Avdol turning himself into his own personal Chernobyl and DIO would have to figure out ways to get past the immeasurable heat.
they just playin with us.... killed the good characters
Other than getting injured by N'Doul and "boning" Joseph
@@megashark1013 he was a main character in the Mariah fight, also in the cameo fight, was sorta of a narrator in the d arby fight and had he's moments like when Polnareff finds the beggar and explain why he's there to Polnareff. He did a lot not to much but still he was there.

I think it was *supposed* to be a slap in the face. Kinda juxtaposing the reader with Polnareff's reaction.
Lol
Avdol in Part 5's style would've been horrifying tbh.
Plus, if he did survive SDC, he would have to deal with his friends deaths like Jotaro and Polnareff did
Avdol doesnt have enough speed to show how powerful King Crimson is
Polnareff grew more as a character, and has more of a punch into the story than Avdol for the audience. People were hyped the f up in his return in part 5 but it wouldn't have been the same with Avdol honestly.
At least it was foreshadowed by his stand being a Phoenix
Not everyone needs character development, sometimes it's good to just see someone act as themselves.
his 2nd death is way better and works because of the 1st death making you think avdol is invincible
He should have at least had more fights and screentime before his death to make it more impactful, we barely knew him. His whole character seemed to exist just to develop Polnareff
I was thinking that maybe he could be ok in the cream land… and the they killed cream…

a spooky eel hey hey, we are just talking about resurrections here.
Yo is that a JoJo reference?
SalvSays we talking about Jesus right?
"Yes, i am!" was worth the resurrection

Bur yeah, part 5 deaths are by far the best & most emotional. (When it comes to anime at least) That's one of the reasons why it's my favourite.
I completely agree, both his resurrection and his second death were very badly written.

To be fair, he could cauterize his wounds and stop the bleeding. He still got stuck in the shadow realm, though. I'm not sure how to get out of it. I liked the character and was shocked when he died because, like real life, it was so quick.
My Worst Botched Resurrection: The entirety of Fairy Tail
Debatable
Very Debatable
@@philswiftdestroyerofworlds1988 Nah,its a point that even hardcore fans agree was handled poorly(not really saying much since that could describe fairy tail in it's entirety).
@@tigerosu2070 fairy tail is definitely hard to get into (for me at least) but for some reason it will always be super nostalgic and i will always love it... even though from an analytical point of view the show sucks ass
@George Nathanael it is pretty ecchi and im not a huge fan of it but it was one of the first shows i watched when i first got into anime so like i said in my other comment, ill always like it
As Jack Duripper said Avdol is faster than a bullet since he tackled polnareff out the way from hol horse
Never ever do this!!!
(touching your face with this Corona virus outbreak)
kenneth acuna I read this while rubbing me eye
Sounds like he's a discovery writer...one of the downsides of being a discovery writer (especially with the manga industry), you'll run into issues like this at times, others times there will be pretty unsatisfying endings.
I like how he actually died because it showed how powerful Vanilla Ice is and how easy it was for him. Plus the part when Polnareff sees both Abdul's and Iggy's souls.
I mean, Joseph ‘died’ twice and still continued living after that, but that at least was a story arc apart.
“The worst thing to do to a series is kill one of the main characters and then bring them back to life”
Supernatural: hold my pie and beer
I agree with everything you said cause when I first watched sdc I cried my heart out the first time Avdol “died” and when he actually died I didn’t really think he died I was actually thinking he was gonna come back some how and when I saw his soul leave with Iggy it hit me
Yep that was pretty much my experience. A bit of a sad and underwhelming end to a grand character.
It’s funny when y’all say he lost his arms when he literally lost everything but his arms lol
In my opinion, a couple of extremely subtle/small twitches when Avdol was on the ground (when Hol Horse shot him) could have made a world of difference for his actual death scene, and it could have been played off as: “Polnareff didn’t notice.”
And for the actual death by Vanilla Ice, he could have been destroyed a lot slower, and like yelled out, or something, to make it seem a lot more feasible, and played it off as some sadistic tendencies.
Avdol being humorous when he 'came back' was really jarring, because before he seemed like a more serious person. (but i love his YES, III AM!)
I'll be real, the only thing I remember about Post-Resurection Avdol is him helping Joseph fight Magnet chick. Then dying.
When Avdol died again it was so sudden and that we had gotten used to the idea it was nothing while at the first death the audience was shocked
OMG Pell's "death" from One Piece is one of the most BS resurrections I've ever seen! Still bothers me to this day lmao
Would have made since Pell ate the Phoenix Fruit instead of Marco
The plot armor in the whole BW arc is stronger than diamond armor
Jay Cloud Pell didn't died, the Kingdom of Albasta and Vivi thought he died and Pell was shocked that he saw his grave after Luffy beat Crocodile.
I remember when I watched with my sister, I knew what happens because I read the manga. My sister was convinced he was alive the whole time until we saw his ghost. I thought the same thing too when I first read the manga. “He’s probably alive. Everyone loses arms dude.”
I mean this was Araki’s first time writing a monster of the week story so ehh.
if avdol didnt die then we woudnt have the "YES I AM" meme.;p
I like how phoenixes are associated as having 2 lives but sad to say avdol used both those lives already
Avdol would sub,but the thing is,i already am
0:56 I just noticed how Kakyoin looks like he is just falling. Not, like going too fall then stand up. Just strait up falling. 😂
I'm loving this JoJo content. You have a very unique and professional insight which is incredibly refreshing to hear. Good work addressing the Avdol shaped elephant in the room.
Thanks for the kind words :D
@@NewWorldReview your review video of part 5 and 6 sucks still, you don't know how jojo works, watch videos of other youtubers who explained part 5 and importance of fate well. since you clearly have no clue what fate in jojo is about and how important topic fate is. part 6 is a great part too so stop putting down that much it's literally the most bizzare one which live up to its name.
Kakyoin and Polnareff are the best in the gang, but then the Jojos and then Avdol and then
Dog
Also Avdol is very bizarre to me.... As far as I know he's the only person in part 3 I think that has a stand that wasn't given to them by Dio or inherited as a joestar.... Like I feel like that definitely could have justified him coming back if they filled in some of the blanks and made him more interesting.... I'm also confused how he knows so much about stands seems like he was the one that told Joseph most of what he knows
Jean Pierre Polnareff's stand Silver Chariot was also like that, he got it himself, not helped by Dio or being a Joestar
@@oxcare5 fair enough.... I wasn't exactly sure about polnareff though I do recall him mentioning that's silver Chariot was with him ever since he was a kid
@Med Avdol, Polnareff and Kakyoin had their stands since birth and also Iggy because there are only 2 ways of getting a stand, arrow or born with it, and the Speedwagon fundation didnt have any arrows during all of part 3, so Iggy was born with a stand
@Med I dont know for sure, but if someone from your familly before you (dad, mom, grandfather etc, even grandgrandfather/mom) there is a higher chance for the next generations to get a stand
lol Polnareff, Iggy and Kakyoin were born with their stands

The best "resurrection" I've seen in any kind of media is Alphonse's at the end of FMAB
ARGH
Dammit man
Victor Crespo damn that’s just unnecessarily toxic
Victor Crespo FMAB has been out for years; if you haven’t seen it, that’s your problem.
Victor Crespo Exactly and it’s on a video that doesn’t even relate to it.
My favourite botched resurrection was Edward and Alphonse's mom.
Not a show but something that did resurrection right was Chrono Trigger.
I cant even imagine that shit happening, it would ruin one piece
they effectively brought Ace back by having an Ace clone (Sabo) be introduced into the story
i just finished the alabasta arc and pell surviving was stupid as hell.
My problem with both avdol and Kakyoin is that they had so much character potential and Polnareff stole all the screen time they could’ve been given
*Stand User:* Abdul
Stand Name: *『Spicy KFC Resurrection』*
Avdol seems dead, it fuels a characters motivation to get better whole at the same time he's not just doing nothing, he's gaining a sub for them to get to Egypt undetected but then it shows that it doesn't matter, not matter what Dio would've found them, they can't escape or hide from him, and to me that's one of the best uses of this story telling technique.
iWatch _0 I agree
I got spoiled when so I already knew Avdol wasn’t dead when he was shot so I actually felt really sad when he died to Vanilla Ice. I got spoiled watching the second opening early then seeing Avdol there too.
i really dont like resurrections, first of all it f£^$s with my emotions, removes tension, removes any risk since if it happened once,it would happen again and,its NEH,and it pulls me out from the story.
@Zavphkuiel i dont know how it ended but if you talking about reset,Jojos part 6 also has a reset, all that character development gone in a single chapter...
*he's that sick black man with an insanely hot stand which produces fire*
The Avdol problem: he touched his face. In times like these we can’t show filthy weebs (like me) that it’s good to touch your face! Jesus Avdol.
for people in the future: this was corona time
I do agree with most of what you said in the video.
Avdol's second death was more for shock rather than an emotional impact.
Me: You aint dead, are you.
Avdol: YES, I AM!
The problem with Abdul is that his name doesn't exist in Arabic , at the very least in that manner .Just pisses me of when ever i think about it .
Abdul... is literally an arab name
All Hail Lelouch dude im literally Arab, youre right it could be a compound name but it can also be just a name like abdul, or abdullah
@@DumbRum16 abdul what ? that is the problem , your name can't be just '' servant of '' , abdullah is abd ul'llah '' the servant of god'' , but abdul on it's own , nah
All Hail Lelouch fuck, yeah thinking about it, it doesn’t make sense, Abdul means “slave of”, so youre right, my bad, sorry for hassling you dude
No joke, I wasn’t subscribed and I’ve never heard of your channel before. But because of your intro now I am subscribed!

Part two is my favourite I love young Joseph but it's also interesting to see how he develops and ages yet stays just as young as a charecter 😊
I mean magician's red kinda looks like a bird and does fire things so the phoenix connection is something that should be mentioned.
I have a question: What is your opinion regarding the fake death of Bruno Bucharatti?
Thing is that bruno was dead just on a clock, no matter what bruno was not going to survive any longer so I dont call it a fake death
Bruno's case wasn't fake death, more like "extra times"
His fake death was shocking and good but his real death was really lacking, I feel like many will disagree but it felt really sudden and unheroic
That wasn't a fake death
He only gained a bonus time of 3 days has a living being
@@anthonyrusso3100 No it wasn't lacking at all, Bruno made his ultimate selfless sacrifice to give Giorno the arrow, so it was indeed very heroic and powerful
Would have been cool to see Avdol fight Dio after fleeing from him before
