There were a couple of months that he was sounding really good. It must be tough to REALLY practice when you've got so much stuff going on, though. We all can go home and screw around, but you don't really learn new scales by covering Yellow Ledbetter for the 1000th time.

I love me some silverburst. Got a V, Explorer and Les Paul Custom all in that color. Just need a strat and a tele and I'll have a complete set.

A big reason the guitar looks so good is that Epiphone didn't do anything funny with the headstock. There's no dead give-away it's an Epiphone, unless you look close.
Like my dean a lot more. Has a thinner neck.
Phil Hunter yes I agree ...it’s a faithful Gibson Flying V custom apart from the Epiphone on the headstock ... I’ve always been huge fan of fat chuncky 50’s style necks

They like to review LP and Strats all over again, about six times per year.
I played both the seven and six string versions and both of them felt very comfortable to play. The fast Access heel is a blessing for the upper frets and the guitar did make the impression of a high-quality guitar. However! I didn't like the tone, because EMG's just aren't my cup of the tea. If you like EMG's though, it'll probably be an awesome guitar.
Congratulations for finding out that this was just my subjective opinion! Never said that anything I wrote, is a fact. Those are just my observations and if he's asking for a review, I guess that he'd like to get some opinions ? Of course, there's no way to be sure other than playing the guitar yourself.

i have this guitar, and i love it . Just wanted to say , i really think The Captain has the best job ever, works in a guitar store, hangs out with Chappers and makes videos, plays guitars most of us only dream about and has his own sig model. Great videos, crack on !
Epiphones keep getting better- My brother has the original Jeff Waters Annihilator V- the tone is incredible. I've played this guitar at a store and it's really high quality especially for the price.
This was my Gibson dream V before I ever heard of Brent Hinds.

I've never even seen any kind of kill-switch incorporated into a guitar, so cool. Albert King has always been a big inspiration so obviously the flying V has a place in my heart.
Best part of a VEE is you don't require a guitar stand!

I'm loving all this Mastodon stuff online lately, my favorite band ever. Brent Hinds is also my favorite guitarist and I have the V myself. What a great way to start the morning with my coffee!
These things absolutely sold like hot cakes, I'm such a fan of this band. I ordered mine like literally 4 minutes after it was announced. My local shop wasn't even aware it was an actual thing. I'm glad I got mine, it puts such a big smile on my face. I just need a hardcore amplifier to match it now.

Ok, had to stop a mere 1:30 in. Lol My inner nerd is screaming. Dinosaurs lived during the Mesozoic Era 252-66 ish Million Years Ago. (Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous periods) The Mastodon was around during the end of the Pleistocene which ended 11,000-ish years ago. So you're only off about 65,989,000 years. Close enough... now back to the show. :D

Preordered mine from Andertons back in April. Received it mid June. It really is a great looking, playing and sounding guitar.
this has to be one of the greatest guitars ever made in every way shape and form. the golden ratio probably was used in the design, because that axe looks like absolute perfection.
I own Les Paul's with 50s necks and this neck on this guitar is PERFECT. Yes it is big but it feels comfy if you have big hands. I love the tone of this guitar, so happy I got one!

I'm not a fan of Mastodon, and even less of a fan of Brent Hinds, but this Epiphone is the first signature guitar I've seen that is so cool I couldn't care less which artist it's created for. Seriously thinking of getting one of these.
With all of your videos there is a HUGE difference between the loud as fuck guitars and when you and the Cap'n speak. Your videos come out at 6 - 7 AM here in the States so I set my volume to make your loud guitars not wake everyone up but then when you and the Cap'n are speaking I cant hear a word you say. Thus I am constantly pausing, adjusting volume, playing. Really annoying. Thanks for reading my rant. Great mixing, but maybe do some mastering or at least some compression/limiting on the overall audio. Cheers!

Weird, I use headphones the vast majority of the time, or with my soundbar at home I have the compressor enabled. I will say they have had the in studio cabs pushed a bit more, and you can tell by their reactions in various videos that they've gotten louder. But it doesn't sound terrible, so it works for me.

Open ear headphones (what most people own) can be loud as fuck with high frequencies. Don't be that douche on the bus who thinks they aren't annoying everyone who can only hear the drum beat of the song they're listening to.

A Mastodon was a elephant-related beast (similar a mammoth/Asian elephant but not as large) in central and north America 10-20K years ago. Just sayin....:)

Epiphone has been on a roll lately. I recently got a Custom Pro Standard Les Paul from them, and it's the first time i've bought a guitar that I don't feel the need to modify in some way. I've had a Studio Paul in the past that I just couldn't get used to, but this new one sounds and feels like what is expected of a Les Paul. No surprise here. They're on fire.

For some reason I absolutely do not like silverburst. I would never ever buy a silver burst guitar. Otherwise it looks great.

I'm the same way, I feel like it's such a dead color. I don't like classic colors either, V should be mean, I want some schectery colors on it like trans purple, orange or green.

Epiphone has a great killswitch, the SG Special II comes with one and its like 120$ or so, I bought mine used and it's become one of my favorites (after putting new pickups in it)

I've got one. Only thing I would change is the block inlays are the "mother of toilet seat" blocks. If Epi would have gone the extra mile and used real mother-of-pearl for the inlays it would be perfect.
