I then remind them that it's a good alternative to spending over $1200 or more on a lot of brands these days . I also challenge them to go in any music store pull any Epiphone or all and try them. I've found several including the SGs I bought from you my Casino, my SJ200 and my Traditional Pro III that debunks the toy guitar statement.

Last week, I saw Richie with Elegant Weapons in Amsterdam, supporting PanterA on their European tour. Great player, tasty riffs, cool personality - and this guitar is a beast. My favorite artist model in quite a while
I got a Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid from Sweetwater that was 1/5 the price and FLAWLESS. Schecter’s workmanship destroys Gibson. What happened to this company? They used to be the top dog!
Really regretting not getting the Epiphone version because it was really sweet and Epi hadn't quite gotten to the prices they are charging now for signature models. I've seen them listed for up to $4k. I hope they bring those back. But wait, what? No signature on the Gibson COA? The Epi's COA was signed by Richie.
I have the orginal Epi V and I absolutely love it. Despite many qc issues it is still one of my favorite, mainly bc of its well designed features: 58V body shape, floyd rose bridge, comfy neck, output jack on top wing and emg 57/66 pickups. I liked it so much that I started looking for a backup a year later but the price kept going up like crazy. The closest thing is a dean V but that is sadly no more (and I hate the headstock). I'm not a diehard fan of Mr. RF but he somehow designed my dream guitar.
I played a 8,000 Gibson CS LP once and it had the same paint raised along the entire body and neck binding.. It felt so horrible and poorly done. IMO its bad craftsmanship from Gibson especially on a guitar that costs this much. Regardless if they spray a color on to thick or not, That should not be like that. All the chips and finish issues on this, WOW! What a shame, because this is such an awesome looking V.
I'd be raising hell if I paid that much for a guitar (which would never ever happen) and it arrived in this condition. Gibson can surely afford to hire some compitent QC emplayees, for what they charge for their CRAP.
Maybe the biggest QC issue I noticed, and I look for when purchasing a guitar. The low and high E strings don't run evenly along the length of the fretboard. The low E string runs close to the edge of the fretboard that string slippage on the low E could happen. At 1:09 of the video you can pause and notice this as well as other sections of the video. The high E is high up on the fretboard . A touch off is fine, but that looks more than I like to see in a guitar.
A good-looking guitar, but a $6999 Custom Shop with enough flaws to warrant return and resale as a B-stock? That they couldn't even take the time to remove the buffing compound speaks volumes.
Lazy scratched finish and missing switch tips. And at a whopping $7000. This is completely unacceptable. And the Epiphone version while has gone up in price is much better and still less than the half the price of this piece of garbage.
Funny how if a $200 Firefly guitar that has a missing a toggle tip or a paint chip and it's absolute garbage but a $7000 Gibson with those flaws and everything is ok.
all the case candy in the world ain’t justifying that price tag. nice guitar though would’ve been better if it was the 60s style instead of the korina style or the 70s style
trogly is way to forgiving , he is paying what people pay for cars or like 4 months plus rent and he is like oh just a finish chip and the headstock paint is sloppy you can tell he is a dealer and has no plans on ownership of it , its just a piece of inventory , for a regular person buying this to own thats unacceptable levels of quality control and it would be nice if you looked at this from the buyers perspective sometiime dude no one i mean no one is overlooking that so casually after dropping 7+ grand it really makes you seem totally disconnected from the average person.
Wow. $7,000. They saw an Epiphone went for $3,000 at the highest...so they HAVE to 2x that...and add $1,000 for some reason....100 of those pick tins CAN'T be cheap? Sorry to be one of these guys, but damnit Gibson...DAMNIT! Your not doing yourself ANY favors. They need to stop with these 50/50 (looks good from 50 feet going 50 mph) guitars for ridiculously high prices and such low quality. Edit: Frickster would have a FIELD DAY with that....so forgiving that man...
I think a metal grommet from the flag might have been rubbing against the lens of the sunglasses. See if Gibson will replace that. Edit: medium compound is usually red, so seeing pink it might be a bit of that and the white fine compound. (Heavy compound isn’t really the best idea for guitars (or cars), you can rip the finish right off.)
Honestly... I see so many workmanship issues on such an expensive guitar that it makes me wonder about Gibson's quality control... are they letting it go again yet? :(
Sounds good. Since they are only doing 100 units, I think it would have been nice to have the artist’s signature in the booklet. I got limited run, Apple phone signature model… Where they did 200 units and I got the signature in the booklet. I think the photo was signed.
sounding good "electric eye". love to see the metal trog guy version. looks good on ya. can we convert you into a metalhead? afterall it`s all just a mash of blues, rock, pop, punk, with a touch of jazz, classical, sometimes hip hop, funk, soul, techno, etc... whatever you like, with higher output equipment and whammy bars. that`s metal. and that`s why i love it, along with infinite other reasons.
Sorry, I have to comment... Am I the only one who noticed how poorly the pickguard is fitted to the body for $6000?! Look at the uneven gaps on either side of the Floyd Rose. Look at the uneven gaps at the top of the pickguard near the neck pickup between the pickguard edge and the body binding on both sides. Look at the uneven gaps near the bottom points in relation to the body binding again. Unbelievable and mind blowing for $6000. I couldn't live with that. No way. 😲🤬
Never ever ever remove your locking nut if the guitar has top screws installation. If you do, you risk enlarging the hole if they are not tightened correctly and you will end up fucking up the entire floyd system, and that shit is a MAJOR repair.
I'm sure it's a nice guitar and Richie Faulkner may also be a nice guy, but everything about him is copied from KK Downing including his look. This V is a take on the Hamer Vector KK Downing has. Being a Judas Priest fan since the 70's, it's disappointing to see it. We don't see Andy Sneep playing an SG or a Hamer GT and wearing red leather pants.
You think Richie is KK's clone because... he plays a Flying V and has blond hair? So was Randy Rhoads also a copy of KK? Or Michael Schenker or all the other dudes with blond hair and Flying Vs?
@@Duevel Come on bro, Randy Rhoads and Michael Schenker didn't replace KK Downing. They both had/have their original music and style. Put a picture of Richie Faulkner and KK Downing side by side and please tell me who had the look, style, and music first?

It's an acquired taste. I don't findn the effect to be worth the trouble and time to set it up. @@Trogand purchasing a square foot of land on a Scottish manor makes you a lord or a lady, right?... 🤪
Those chips make it a 2nd.
If that one piece mahogany body got deemed a second, how many more pieces of wood can they go grab and start over with? Not an argument, just curious.
Wow, for 7 grand we'll get some chinese made trinkets in a "special bag"?
A fool and his money......
I’m surprised that Gibson cannot route guitars with CNC Machines to higher standards. I see other manufacturers performing better quality control.
Hate to say it but Squier higher end models quality is better then the last few Gibson I’ve seen. Epiphone got em beat on quality control
Why do you say this? These routes were clean according to this video. Trogly complimented them.
I agree, I think even Epiphone and Kramer are doing a better job.
@@cataclysmicconverter 8:25 Referring to the trim cavity, he said “The route on the top they did a very nice job.” And he complimented to work on the other cavities also. I have no idea what video you’re watching. I have a feeling you’re just making this up to rip onGibson for no reason. He didn’t take the tram out so you don’t even see the inside of the cavity. Only the back of it and it looks perfect.
@@216trixie He clearly noted there was a chip missing in the rear cavity, although it was finished and didn't matter much. But it does go to show that the manufacturing maybe is not quite up to the standards you'd expect from an instrument approaching $7k.
Last week, I saw Richie with Elegant Weapons in Amsterdam, supporting PanterA on their European tour. Great player, tasty riffs, cool personality - and this guitar is a beast. My favorite artist model in quite a while
lucky mofo. lol i’m jus waiting for the american tour if it happens.
God trogly will defend gibson over every problem they have with there guitars. Especially at the price points
Gibson can surely afford to hire some compitent QC emplayees, for what they charge for their CRAP.
it"s cool but the pickguard....too much plastic on the body
Sloppy work and a missing toggle, and a scratched pair of sunglasses. Poor show Gibson. This is B stock.
Missing switch cap... ruined sunglasses..... How wonderfully gibson of them.
Grrr. I just can't get excited about the double pickguard look. Way too much plastic covering what should be beautiful finish.
Curious to know if the glasses were scratched BEFORE you dropped them or after.
At that price you should be getting nothing short of perfection, not sloppy tool work covered over with plastic fittings.
A good-looking guitar, but a $6999 Custom Shop with enough flaws to warrant return and resale as a B-stock? That they couldn't even take the time to remove the buffing compound speaks volumes.
over 7k, but no switch tip and scratched sunglasses. awesome
He dropped the sunglasses.
As an actual player, I’m not interested in any guitar covered in plastic.
Considering you can get far more for your money with much better quality elsewhere, just paying for the Gibson name doesn't cut it anymore.
all the case candy in the world ain’t justifying that price tag. nice guitar though would’ve been better if it was the 60s style instead of the korina style or the 70s style
Considering the price tag, they didn't pay that much attention to details! Just paying for the Gibson logo I guess?
trogly is way to forgiving , he is paying what people pay for cars or like 4 months plus rent and he is like oh just a finish chip and the headstock paint is sloppy you can tell he is a dealer and has no plans on ownership of it , its just a piece of inventory , for a regular person buying this to own thats unacceptable levels of quality control and it would be nice if you looked at this from the buyers perspective sometiime dude no one i mean no one is overlooking that so casually after dropping 7+ grand it really makes you seem totally disconnected from the average person.
Wow.
Doesn't hold back does he...
@@mark-wh2qc Nope, which is why I like his opinions.
Look is amazing but the finish quality is terrible for a 7k axe 😮
I think a metal grommet from the flag might have been rubbing against the lens of the sunglasses. See if Gibson will replace that.
Edit: medium compound is usually red, so seeing pink it might be a bit of that and the white fine compound. (Heavy compound isn’t really the best idea for guitars (or cars), you can rip the finish right off.)
I love Richie as a player and a person but I find that price insulting!
I would love to see you review and demo a Flying V '98. They're a weird cross between a 58 and a 67 V.
4m25s sunglasses hit the deck. Moments later, "oh look my sunglasses are scratched"
On more time G is not making the job as good as the price deserve it . Sadly
Yeah, this is a hard pass.
7 G's for a V ?
Not just no, but hell no.
Honestly... I see so many workmanship issues on such an expensive guitar that it makes me wonder about Gibson's quality control... are they letting it go again yet? :(
The Pole Pieces on the RF EMG's (which are basically the 57/66) are REAL. They are made different than the typical EMG pickups such as the 81/85.
That pickguard seems little off center
Hi
Btw that's a floyd rose 1000 on it
Thy should make a production model of a 67/70s style V with a Floyd Rose.
they sometimes overspray the binding and then scrape it off
Sounds good. Since they are only doing 100 units, I think it would have been nice to have the artist’s signature in the booklet. I got limited run, Apple phone signature model… Where they did 200 units and I got the signature in the booklet. I think the photo was signed.
What a piece of crap! I have ESP's and have none of these problems. But it's a Gibson. 🙄
ESP has quality control though. Gibson doesn't bother with stuff like that.
Yeah, no, HAHAHAHAHA
Yeah when you contact Gibson for the switch tip, tell them about the glasses were damaged! Awesome piece!

You made the podium for today and earned a Bronze Medal today Biker Jon.
Trog, look on your floor for the switch tip. Something fell out of the flag when you opened it up.
That was the glasses.
sounding good "electric eye". love to see the metal trog guy version. looks good on ya. can we convert you into a metalhead? afterall it`s all just a mash of blues, rock, pop, punk, with a touch of jazz, classical, sometimes hip hop, funk, soul, techno, etc... whatever you like, with higher output equipment and whammy bars. that`s metal. and that`s why i love it, along with infinite other reasons.

@@sgt.grinch3299 Thank you Sgt! Cheers 😃
No way. 😲🤬
He almost had a Van Halen logo on the case!
What a weird place to put the input jack.
75% SS insignia😂
Never ever ever remove your locking nut if the guitar has top screws installation. If you do, you risk enlarging the hole if they are not tightened correctly and you will end up fucking up the entire floyd system, and that shit is a MAJOR repair.
I believe he would heavily modify his guitars in the early days and one of his mods was putting a double pick guard on his guitars.
Just got hold of the Epiphone V … is this Gibson version really that much better? Normally you’d say of course but the flaws shown here never justify the multiply by 7 price. I’d love to see a side by side comparison.
Imagine spending 7 grand on that quality?
Never played a guitar with a Floyd in my 35 years of playing but man this looks so badass!
It's an acquired taste. I don't findn the effect to be worth the trouble and time to set it up. Although I am the type who has multiple guitars set up for different applications I still am constantly changing tunings on the current one I play. That and changing string size and hell even BRAND can mean a complete set up.
@@leviathan_is_me yeah thats why i never bothered, for the amount and the way i use trem a non locking system is fine, i only really use it to shimmer chords once in a while, no divebombing stuff.
@@elevenAD So you should consider a Wilkinson.... I myself have 2 guitars with a Floyd Rose - a Charvel Predator and a Carvin Ultra V. Back in the days, there also was a Washburn "Superstrat" with crackle finish (red-black)...
@@martinkasper197 BITD i had a Washburn Super Strat! Metallic Blue, it had a huge trem system called a wonder bar! First real guitar i ever owned! good memories! and yeah one of the guitars im thinking of buying now has a Wikinson, i think they would work fine for me!
Nice flying V, but I'd prefer the single side pickguard on Brett Hinds' signature etc. Did you measure body thickness? I'm very curious about the thickness of different flying v versions :-)
I'm not wild about Flying Vs, signature guitars, or blue Gibsons.....BUT...this is a NICE looking guitar.
I wish that was a blue->white burst instead of a giant pickguard but I like the other features quite a bit. The binding really looks great. I’ve never been a Judas Priest fan despite being a metalhead but I do own 3-flying V’s.
Under pickguard rours looks much better on old Epiphone signature, and much different layout of wires and electronics.
I get doin the review, but fuck the 'Artist' version of the Flying V....get ur own 'V' and make a statement ! for....... thousands of $$$ less !
Q C problems still not sorted .Gibson not bothered as people still keep buying expensive guitars with shoddy workmanship.Throw in some cheap case candy and all will be well.
Can't afford one, eh !
