    I met Barrie once in 2001 and he gave a lecture in the same hall that i used to teach choirs of kids at OLA, SATX. Just a few years ago, a 15 or 30 minute phone call with him, turned into 2.5 hours. He is a wonderful, genuine and very sincere soul. See you in heaven!

    You know that Barrie is like this all the time? He is just so laid back and genuine. And super witty and friendly as well. Last August I met up with Barrie in Woodland Park Colorado for dinner. We both enjoy Mexican food, so we ate at one there that he liked. While over the years I had spent hours talking to Barrie about the Shroud, this time it was just free rein to chat about anything we wanted. His time in the Navy, his first photography studios in California. Cameras, film, previous marriages, kids, cars, even Mount Everest. When we talked over the phone it was always Shroud related. When we met for dinner, nothing was off limits. He gave me some pictures that he had taken of the Shroud back in 1978 (they are framed and on my wall now) and a book on the Shroud. Two hours of chat later spilled into the parking lot where we chatted for yet another hour. I did not want it to end. But end it had to so when we parted company, I shook his hand and felt such a thrill knowing that I was touching the hand of a man that touched the face of our Lord. The Mexican food that night was only OK, and the prices were high, but wow was it ever worth it to spend that much time with Barrie. I sure hope that I get to do it again someday. Wonderful experience it was indeed.

    In around 1990 I read the book, THE SHROUD OF TURIN I had picked up with passing curiosity at a local library. After reading it, there was no doubt in my mind that it was the image of Jesus of Nazareth. A short time afterwards I was given a vision. and while I had never since witnessed anything supernatural either before or since, I know what I saw. Without setting out the details here, nothing anyone could say or do, would make me recant the details of that brief yet frightening spiritual experience.

    Pollen could naturally have been blown or alighted onto the linen cloth. Jesus was crucified at Passover, in the spring. Pollen could have been in the air everywhere. The pollen on the shroud comes from the area around Jerusalem! I live in the US South - my car just got washed yesterday, and today there is a new film of yellow pollen on the roof. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, Barry. I'm convinced it's the real deal. Isn't the blood on the Sudarium the same blood type?

      Read please the whole content of John chapter 3 and tell me what does it mean for everybody who knows those words:
      John 3
      18He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
      36He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
      And please have a look on my post I did about two weeks ago and see how merciful Shroud believers can be:
      NO SHROUD mentioned in the gospels ...
      I think that I have the same right as Barrie to share my point of view. @@wipo3654 What? No Shroud mentioned in the Gospels?? What moron told you that lie?
      Not much doubt as to your Shroud ignorance. 1. 'And Joseph bought a linen *shroud,* and taking him down, wrapped him in the linen *shroud* [Mark 15:46] 2. 'And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen *shroud'* [Matthew 27:59] 3. 'Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen *shroud'* [Luke 23:53] Each of the synoptic Gospels mention Joseph of Arimathea making use of a single linen cloth to wrap the body of Jesus for burial. The Word 'Sindon' (singular noun ) means 'A clean sheet' and the Word 'Othonion' (plural noun) means 'bandages'. Luke uses the same plural noun (Othonion), “funeral linens,” in his account of the Resurrection (Luke 24: 12) after earlier speaking of the singular burial cloth (Sindon) or *shroud* (Luke 23 :53) . This plural noun mentioned in (Luke 24: 12) is intended to include all the funeral elements such as : 1) A long *shroud( - It's used to wrap whole body 2)A face cloth or 'Soudarion' - It's not used to wrap whole head but to wipe the perspiration from one’s face. The Greek word 'Soudarion' was derived from a Latin word for “sweat.” 3)A few stripes of linen - They help to tie a shroud around a body The Fourth Gospel never mentions such a 'Sindon'. Instead, John writes of Joseph and Nicodemus “binding the body of Jesus in strips of linen” The verb 'Binding' ( δέω) is frequently found in the context of binding a prisoner with chains. (Mark 5.3; 6.17; Acts 12.6; 21.33) John uses the same verb in Revelation for the 'binding' of the dragon (Rev 20: 2)

      "Book, chapter and verse(s) please" for all the following claims posted on another channel. But impossible because the story is pure Sindonology fantasy. Who twists the Scripture like this is simply not trustworthy:
      "beverlyhurd8556
      @wipo3654 Those of us that are both intelligent and know both the Bible as well as the Shroud (that's millions of us) know that the face cloth of Jesus was wrapped around his head after he died but was still on the cross. After he was taken down and brought into the tomb it was taken off of him, folded, and set aside. He was not wearing it when he was resurrected. Duh!
      After Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took Jesus to the tomb, they spent what little time they had before Sabbath forced them to stop cleaning his body. The spice women were to finish the job on Sunday morning but as we all know they could not as he had been resurrected. Is there any way at all that you can understand that??"

    Does the God who shapes every snow flake and finger print into uniqueness - and having created the entire cosmos, all life, all space, all time - and who is already sitting at the End of Time (being outside of it as well as in it at any moment) in His Eternal Triumph - and ours - not have any part in all this??
    Of course He does - it was His Son who was nailed to the Cross to anchor us to Him who would dare follow in Love and Faith into Eternity.
    It seems to me most likely that this shroud is precisely what it looks like: the real thing… The moment that the first human by the hand of God became what we will become - immortal by Miracle.

      Barrie is convinced that the Shroud is the authentic burial cloth of Jesus. But does he also belief Christ is THE Son Of God and the promised Messiah? Up to this time I didn't hear any testimony. Ask him what the following means for him:
      The Sin-Bearing Messiah
      (written about 700 BC)
      Isaiah 53
      1Who has believed our report?
      And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
      2For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
      And as a root out of dry ground.
      He has no [a]form or [b]comeliness;
      And when we see Him,
      There is no [c]beauty that we should desire Him.
      3He is despised and [d]rejected by men,
      A Man of [e]sorrows and acquainted with [f]grief.
      And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
      He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
      4Surely He has borne our [g]griefs
      And carried our [h]sorrows;
      Yet we [i]esteemed Him stricken,
      [j]Smitten by God, and afflicted.
      5But He was wounded[k] for our transgressions,
      He was [l]bruised for our iniquities;
      The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
      And by His stripes[m] we are healed.
      6All we like sheep have gone astray;
      We have turned, every one, to his own way;
      And the Lord [n]has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
      7He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
      Yet He opened not His mouth;
      He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
      And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
      So He opened not His mouth.
      8He was taken from [o]prison and from judgment,
      And who will declare His generation?
      For He was cut off from the land of the living;
      For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
      9And [p]they made His grave with the wicked-
      But with the rich at His death,
      Because He had done no violence,
      Nor was any deceit in His mouth.
      10Yet it pleased the Lord to [q]bruise Him;
      He has put Him to grief.
      When You make His soul an offering for sin,
      He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
      And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
      11[r]He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
      By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
      For He shall bear their iniquities.
      12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,
      And He shall divide the [s]spoil with the strong,
      Because He poured out His soul unto death,
      And He was numbered with the transgressors,
      And He bore the sin of many,
      And made intercession for the transgressors.

    I love that ending. One time I was meditating before the Tabernacle in my parish church. We believe that the consecrated wafer is the glorified, real Body of Christ, and any that remain after Divine Liturgy are reposed in the Tabernacle. I was meditating on the word "repose" as it relates to the Body of Jesus being laid in repose (in the Tabernacle), and suddenly I was in the Tomb on Holy Saturday. I know it was an image in my mind, not an actual teleportation or time travel, but it was so real that I was startled. I saw His face in profile, as if I were under the shroud, but I didn't see the rest of His body. And the Angels! Beings of light of different colors, all standing guard over His sacred Body. I didn't see an authentic depiction of the image on the Shroud, and I knew that because I was somewhat familiar with the Shroud. But that's not why I was given the grace of the vision in my mind. I understood it was the message that Jesus really, truly died, and His Body lay in the Tomb on Holy Saturday, and the Angels guarded it while His Soul and Divinity, in other words His spirit, preached the Gospel to the souls of all the deceased people from Adam to His present day. Sometimes that little kind of reminder boosts a growing faith. After that, I wanted to know more about the Shroud. I always did believe it's authentic, since I was a teen hearing about it for the first time when the STIRP Team was in its way to Italy to examine it. I just wanted to know more about it. That's why Barry's last words in this video touch me so

      3For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
      4that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
      5and that He appeared to Cephasa and then to the Twelve.
      6After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.

      Only gullible people believe the pseudo-scientific Sindonology nonsens that ignores and/or twists the gospels context.
      beverlyhurd8556 and other Shroud apostels cannot quote any verse to confirm their fanciful unbiblical and mystical explanations to justify something like the Shroud.
      Below a collection of the main ridiculous claims and please check yourself where it can be found in the Scripture (Bible) - NOWHERE!
      The only correct translation of SINDON is "A linen shroud/sheet/cloth".
      The head cloth was added on the cross and removed/folded by somebody in the rock-tomb.
      The spices were never or partly added due to lack of time.
      The final wrapping was done in the rock-tomb.
      The women wanted to finish the "burial spicing" after Sabbath because "anointing" means the same.
      The Shroud is the "sign of Jona".
      The image of the Shroud is the reason why Peter and John "saw and believed" the resurrection.
      The image of the Shroud is the reason why "the doubtful Thomas" believed the resurrection.
      Paul referred to the Shroud in Galatians 3,1 when writing "Jesus was portrayed as crucified".

    I corresponded with Barry and talked to him in the phone several times. I was fascinated that a Jew was so vociferous in defense of a Christian relic. It's a shame there was never any redress of the main issue about the carbon14 dating being done on, what they claim, was a mire modern reweaving repair segment of the Shroud. Nowadays, certainly just a single thread from elsewhere from the Shroud could yield either a refutation or confirmation. Why wouldn't the Church allow such today? Its either real or a work of art and genius that puts all the genius of DaVinci and Michaelangelo and all the other artists put together to shame

      "Once burned, twice shy"? Carbon-dating does destroy part of the cloth itself -- which, if it is authentic, is very, very precious. So doing the carbon dating once was a HUGE concession.
      In any case, the Church is not about preaching the truth of a piece of cloth. Faith is a gift from the Lord God Himself. The facts of the Shroud should support our Faith, and help us to come closer to the Man Jesus, Who is the Incarnate God. But we do not worship a piece of cloth, no matter how wonderful the miracle of its preservation is.

    The headcloth explanation is in the scriptures.

  • @stephenphillips4984
    @stephenphillips4984 14 дней назад +1

    According to St John's Gospel, Jesus was wrapped not in a single cloth sheet but in a head towel and in SEPARATE body wrappings, i.e., a single shroud that covered the face was NEVER USED:
    St John 20: 3: Then Simon Peter came along behind him and went straight into the tomb. He saw the STRIPS of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus’ HEAD. The cloth was still lying in its place, separate from the linen.
    In other words, the linen burial cloth covered only the torso, not the head of Jesus!
    Hence, the Shroud of Turin, which implies that the body AND head of Jesus was wrapped in a sheet, is inconsistent with the gospel narrative. Christians cannot have it both ways: either they accept the shroud is genuine, in which case they accept that the gospel is historically inaccurate in this detail at least, or else they MUST reject the shroud as a forgery if they believe the accuracy of the gospel narrative. The question is: why should this detail have been either made up or wrongly recorded? If Christians are not willing to doubt the accuracy of this small detail, they HAVE NO CHOICE other than to dismiss the Shroud of Turin as a fake, as it is inconsistent with the account of what was found in the tomb that is given in St John's Gospel.

    • @beverlyhurd8556
      @beverlyhurd8556 14 дней назад

      You sound more than a bit ignorant regarding the Shroud. Those of us that are both intelligent and know the Bible as well as the Shroud know that the facecloth of Jesus was wrapped around his head after he died but was still on the cross. After Joeseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus brought the body of Jesus into the tomb it was removed, folded, and set aside. It was never put back on him again. Had he been wearing it his image would be on there and not the Shroud. Is there any way possible that you can understand that? And those linen strips were for binding the body during rigor and for securing the shroud to his body. He was _not_ wrapped up like King Tut! Duh!!

    • @stephenphillips4984
      @stephenphillips4984 9 дней назад

      @@beverlyhurd8556 You are missing the point, which is: NO single-sheet shroud is mentioned as having been seen in the tomb! Far from being ignorant, I am simply pointing out the inconsistency between identifying the Turin Shroud as the burial cloth of Jesus and the gospel account of what was seen in the empty tomb. I love the way you concoct details ("the face cloth was removed... and never put back on him again") when there is NO text in any gospel that justifies that statement. According to many who accept the Sudarium of Ovidedo as genuine, the image on it is , indeed, his face and therefore it must have been left on his face! This in turn raises the problem of how both images could so accurately resemble each other if they genuine. Is there any possible way you can understand that? It is not very hard reasoning. You don't know that the strips were for securing the shroud - that's just another vacuous speculation, based upon a possible misleading translation of the original Greek word. It has also been translated as “linen clothes”. This refer to the manner in which they prepared the body for burial in that day. They would wrap the body with a wide long cloth, somewhat like a bandage is applied to an injured leg or arm; the wrappings continued until they reached the neck. It WAS like the wrapping around King Tut! This was the method they used to prepare the body of Jesus for burial. Like a giant bandage, these wrappings were wound around the body of Jesus, beginning at the feet, and ending at the head. Several sheets were used. But, even supposing your conjecture that these "strips" were just like ropes that secured a shroud around the body, that still leaves the mystery of the missing shroud. Why was the most important item never found, according to the gospel? Was the resurrected Jesus still walking around, wrapped in a filthy, bloodstained sheet with his complete image imprinted on it? That seems to be what you are implying with a missing shroud. The whole scenario is ridiculous! No. You have not eliminated the blatant inconsistency between the gospel text and the interpretation of the Turin Shroud. All you have achieved is to create another bogus mystery, namely, what happened to the missing shroud with the image of Jesus on it? I can tell you. Nothing. It never existed because the Gospel of St John does not record it. Instead , it refers to several wrappings and a face cloth. Moreover, the cloth that was found had been wrapped around and around his body, not just folded over , as often depicted in paintings. So how could a body leave - either normally or even paranormally - an accurate impression in several sheets of cloth that spiralled AROUND it? Again, the whole thing makes no sense. That's why the Turin Shroud must be a fake. It was created by a camera obscura projecting the image of a corpse expertly made up with crucifixion marks, blood, etc onto a linen sheet that had been treated with a photo-sensitive solution. That's why the image is a negative image. That's why it exists only in the top surface layer of the fibers in the cloth. That's why a faint image of a face was found on the back of the linen in 2004 by an Italian physicist - it was made during a trial run to check that the camera obscura technique created a stable image.

    • @beverlyhurd8556
      @beverlyhurd8556 9 дней назад

      @@stephenphillips4984 Well, these days, no intelligent and non-ignorant person is going to call the Shroud of Turin a fake. Period. It just amazes me how anyone that has at least close to average intelligence could spend even a little as an hour on studying the Shroud and want to call it a fake. And for sure, your post has not changed my mind even a tiny little bit.
      The Shroud image is so incredible that the burden of proof rests on those who think it is a forgery. STURP team spent over two years preparing a series of tests that would gather a vast amount of Shroud data in a relatively short period of time. STURP's primary goal was to determine the scientific properties of the image on the Shroud of Turin, and what might have caused it: After years of exhaustive study and evaluation of the data, STURP issued its Final Report in 1981: _"We can conclude for now that the Shroud image is that of a real human form of a scourged, crucified man. It is not the product of an artist."*_ "The answer to the question of how the image was produced or what produced the image remains, now, as it has in the past, a mystery." _No one has ever proven these 33 scientists and engineers wrong._ All were part of leading tech firms. Los Alamos National Scientific Laboratories* Lockheed Corporation* U.S. Air Force Weapons Laboratories* Brooks Institute of Photography* University of Colorado* Oceanographic Services Inc.* Nuclear Technology Corporation* U.S. Air Force Academy* Jet Propulsion Laboratory* Sandia National Laboratory*, etc. The STRUP team included three Jewish members, one Mormon, one Evangelical, several Catholics, several Protestants and some avowed atheists and agnostics. Had religion ever been a criterion for membership, most of the STURP team members would never have agreed to participate. The notion that it is a forgery (a painting, other work of art) has been disproved so thoroughly and absolutely that it is permanently buried; they are based in part on the denial of empirical data. The scholarly consensus a mere 60 years ago deemed the Shroud a medieval fraud; the present evidence allows a firm archaeological judgement for authenticity. Anyone dumb enough to actually believe that it was some kind of camera obscura technique 2000 years ago certainly is not going to asked to join MENSA anytime soon.

      9And [p]they made His grave with the wicked-
      But with the rich at His death,
      Because He had done no violence,
      Nor was any deceit in His mouth.
      10Yet it pleased the Lord to [q]bruise Him;
      He has put Him to grief.
      When You make His soul an offering for sin,
      He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,

      11[r]He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied.
      By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
      For He shall bear their iniquities.
      12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,
      And He shall divide the [s]spoil with the strong,
      Because He poured out His soul unto death,
      And He was numbered with the transgressors,

    "And the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths." "And the face cloth" a singular cloth "not lying with the linen cloths" plural cloths. That equals a minimum of three clothes. Now, how much of an expert is he? He only sees what he wants to see. No one was ever buried with a piece of cloth with one half under them and the other half over them without tying wrapping strips of cloth or ropes to hold the shroud in place.
    Shrouds are still used to this very day in many countries and religions, look them up and you will see that there is no country or religion where they shroud a body the way these so-called experts are saying Jesus was, so they invent hypotheses to support their theories.
    The only thing that matters is Jesus lived. And if you need a piece of cloth to convince you, you are missing the true miracle.

    Why did they not compare the image of the Shroud and the image of the Tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe ! Scientists could not also find any natural pigment ever used on earth to compare with that in the Tilma . The pigment of the Tilma does not go through the fabric too, like all pigments would on fabric. These explains why these are miraculous happenings that Our Father in Heaven - leaves for us .

      There is plenty of Biblical mention of the Shroud.

    Galatians 3:1
    Oh foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.
    So the Galatians saw Christ "portrayed" in public as crucified. What did they see with their own eyes?
    Answer: The Shroud of Turin.

      2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
      7Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.

    Im fascinated by the Shroud, have been for a very long time. The biggest argument against authenticity for me is its total absence from history until 1354, not a drawing, not a reference, ok we have the Hungarian codex, which perhaps brings us back to 1150 or thereabouts but still over 1000 years of the shrouds exsistence to account for. Thats very, very fishy, especially as it first appears exactly in time with the supposedly inaccurate carbon dating.

    • @beverlyhurd8556
      @beverlyhurd8556 5 месяцев назад

      Keep in mind for the safety of the shroud as well as its owners it was hidden away for many centuries. Only a very tiny few even knew it existed. And the 1988 carbon dating was indeed proven bogus. It was almost *20 years ago* that Dr. Ray Rogers, a scientist at Los Alamos National Scientific Laboratories in New Mexico, *proved* that the carbon testing was done in error as the sample taken was from non-original part of the Shroud. The Shroud of Turin is 2000 years old.

    • @wipo3654
      @wipo3654 5 месяцев назад

      The biggest argument is that there is NO SHROUD mentioned in the gospels! Read and trust the Bible.
      I started to think about the Shroud of Turin some weeks ago because quite a lot of RUclips channels claim that it is 100 % sure the burial cloth of Jesus. So I did what Paul said:
      1Thess 5,21 but test them all; hold on to what is good,
      I searched for all the relevant "burial" verses in the gospels and I did some basic Greek word studies on BibleHub (free bible study webpage - select Interlinear):
      Mk 15,46 And Joseph bought linen cloth [SINDONA, singular] and taking him down, wrapped [ENEILESEN] him in the linen cloth [SINDONI, singular] and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.
      Joh 19,39 Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight [about 32 kg].
      Joh 19,40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound [EDESAN] it in linen cloths [OTHONIOIS, plural] with [META] the spices [AROMATON; about 32 kg], as is the burial custom of the Jews.
      Mk 16,1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices [AROMATA] so that they might go to anoint [ALEIPSOSIN] Jesus.
      (1) SINDON > "a linen cloth" or "linen cloth"?
      I quickly recognised that some Bible translations of SINDON are adding the indefinite article "a" although there is no one in the original Greek texts.
      Is it mandatory to add "a" and is it also mandatory to understand "the" plus noun singular always as one piece only?
      If SINDON must be understood as one large piece linen only (like the Shroud) - where the bandages (OTHONION) and the head cloth (SOUDARION) came from?
      Why the gospel of John does not mention SINDON?
      Answer: In the context SINDON must be translated/understood as a general material description "linen cloth" and it means all the needed burial cloth (bandages and head cloth). Joseph for sure knew what was needed according to the burial custom of (rich) Jews at that time.
      And John didn't mention SINDON in his gospel because he also didn't mention the purchase of Joseph.
      (2) SPICES > stains/particles
      Nicodemus organised a 32 kg sticky mixture of myrrh and aloes. Together with Joseph they wrapped/bound the body in linen (OTHONION) WITH the spices. They completed this work according to the burial custom of Jews at that time.
      STURP (Shroud Of Turin Research Program) used many analytical methods and finally it was even emphasised that not any trace of spices/oils were detected!?
      But there must be at least non degradable stains/particles of spices (like for blood)!?
      And if in the meantime a failure of STURP was revealed - how the adding of spices worked with something like the Shroud of Turin?
      Answer: OTHONION means bandages and the spices were put between the bandages when the body - EXCEPT THE HEAD - was wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus. This was done promptly after taking Jesus from the cross.
      (3) SOUDARION Shroud
      If the complete body of Jesus was already wrapped/bound by Joseph and Nicodemus in something like the Shroud - why there was a need to add a head cloth (SOUDARION)? Also Lazarus wore a head cloth when coming out the tomb himself (Joh 11,44). And despite the burial cloth Lazarus was able to stand up and to go!
      Answer: The SOUDARION was added also promply to cover the head and it remained there until the resurrection.
      (4) WOMEN > anointing
      Jesus was transported to the nearby rock-tomb and was laid in there. Some of the women observed this and nothing else was done in the tomb. After Sabbath the women came with the intention to anoint Jesus.
      How this worked if the body was completely wrapped/bound in something like the Shroud with the spices?
      To get access at least to his head they would have had to remove/destroy the wrapping and uncovering a naked man underneath!?
      Answer: The women came after Sabbath with the intention to anoint Jesus' head (hair/face). This was an act of honour that could have been done easily by removing/readding the head cloth (SOUDARION). But it would have been impossible and illogic with something like the Shroud of Turin.
      So there is no need to trust a still doubtful and controversial relic like the Shroud of Turin to be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus:
      Joh 20,29 Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’

      According to the gospels' context ...
      Joseph of Arimathea bought the needed burial linen cloth (SINDON). That means bandages (OTHONION) and the head cloth (SOUDARION). Nicodemus organised about 32 kg spices. That means a sticky mixture of myrrh and aloes. Jesus was taken from the cross and maybe he was also washed. Then the body, except the head, was promply wrapped/bound with (META) the spices between the bandages (OTHONION) according to the burial custom of Jews at that time. The head was covered with the head cloth (SOUDARION). Finally Jesus was carried to the nearby rock-tomb and was laid in there. The rock-tomb was closed with a stone and sealed. After Sabbath the women intended to anoint Jesus' head removing and readding the head cloth (SOUDARION) but ...
      Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures.
      1 Corinthians 15:3,4
      Jesus has risen!
      At dawn one Sunday almost 2,000 years ago, a great event took place. What happened? Two days earlier, the completely innocent Jesus of Nazareth had been executed on a cross. In the evening of the same day, two of his disciples buried him in a rock tomb before the Sabbath began, the day of rest for the Jews and today's Saturday. Several Roman soldiers guarded the tomb.
      Sunday morning, shortly after midnight, it happened: Jesus Christ rose from the dead! As the first proof of this, God caused a great earthquake. Then He sent an angel to roll away the heavy stone in front of the tomb. So everyone could see that the grave was empty! The soldiers trembled in fear and were completely powerless. They could not prevent the resurrection of the Lord Jesus - but they were witnesses to it.
      A new day dawned for humanity - the starting point for the gospel of God's grace. Jesus predicted: “I am the resurrection and the life; Whoever believes in me, even though he dies, will he live” (John 11:25). This saving faith in Him is not merely believing that His life on earth was perfect and sinless. It also includes more than believing in His death on the cross. Saving faith includes belief in his resurrection. If Jesus had not risen, faith would be meaningless. It would be as useless as belief in any religion founder. None of them can help us because they are all dead. But Jesus lives - He has conquered death and gives eternal life to those who believe in Him!

      (1) What is the correct Bible translation of SINDON - "a linen cloth" or "linen cloth"? What was bought by Joseph of Arimathaea?
      (2) Why to use an extra head cloth if the whole body was already wrapped with something like the Shroud?
      (3) What happened with the spices in combination with something like the Shroud?
      (4) How the woman should have been able to anoint somebody who was completely wrapped with spices in something like the Shroud?

This way of exegesis reveals that with TWISTING THE SCRIPTURE (eisegesis) you can say what you need and only people without bible knowledge and common sense trust blindly.
      As answer to question (2) "head cloth" you (BH) wrote:
      "A face cloth or 'Soudarion' - It's not used to wrap whole head but to wipe the perspiration from one’s face."
      WIPO: It is quite funny. In many of your comments you claim that the head cloth is for sure the so called "Sudarium of Oviedo" (size 85 x 53 cm) because there are supposedly so many similarities (blood stain pattern of the whole head) with the Shroud of Turin. Now you are writing that a Soudarion is only used to wipe the perspiration. But when Lazarus went out himself out of the tomb he still wore a Soudarion (Joh 11,44).
      With your contradicting arguments you are falling in one trap after the other.
      WIPO: And there is no answer to question (3) "spices" and (4) "anointing" because you are overchallenged with this.
      As long there is no clear evidence for the Shroud in the gospels all your other arguments are for nothing. There is no problem for faith ignoring the Shroud but it is highly problematic to ignore and/or twist the gospels.

      beverlyhurd8556 claims that Jesus was wrapped in something like the Shroud but she and other Shroud apostels/disciples cannot give any biblical evidence.
      I have watched video simulations of the desired Shroud wrapping. They all did it without using the 32 kg spices (mixture of myrrh and aloe). But those spices were added for sure when wrapping the body with bandages (othonion) and finally they added the head cloth (soudarion). ONLY THEN they laid Jesus into the rock-tomb:
      Joh 19,39 Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight [about 32 kg].
      Joh 19,40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound [EDESAN] it in linen cloths [OTHONIOIS, plural] with [META] the spices [AROMATON; about 32 kg], as is the burial custom of the Jews.
      Not any word in the gospels that there was a lack of time and that the head cloth was added on the cross and removed to wrap the body in something like the Shroud.
      Not any word in the gospels that the women had to finish the "spicing". They intended to anoint Jesus and this is something completely different. Spices are added to suspress the smell of decay. Anointing is always done with oils/perfumes.
      The Greek word for "spices" has different meanings and the context is decisive:
      Thayer's Greek Lexicon
      STRONGS NT 759: ἄρωμα
      ἄρωμα, ἀρώματος, τό (from ἈΡΩ to prepare, whence ἀρτύω to season; (others connect it with the root ar (ἀρόω), to plow (cf. Genesis 27:27); others besides)), spice, perfume: Mark 16:1; Luke 23:56; Luke 24:1; John 19:40. (2 Kings 20:13; Esther 2:12; Song of Solomon 4:10, 16. (Hippocrates), Xenophon, Theophrastus, and subsequent writings.)
      So each intelligent person with a little bit common sense and trust in the Scripture must reject the Shroud.

      beverlyhurd8556: In his account of the Resurrection (Luke 24: 12) after earlier speaking of the singular burial cloth (Sindon) or shroud (Luke 23 :53) .
      Do you think that anyone alive today knows why Joseph purchased the linen? As if someone was there when he bought it? Do you ever think?
      wipo3654: Once again. There is no indefinite article "a" in the orginal greek texts. Did you ever check this or are you not able to do that? Some Bible translations add an "a" and some do not. So there seems to be no clear grammar rule and it depends on whether a translation is biased or not. Therefore the context is decisive and if Joseph would only have bought one piece of linen - where the bandages and the head cloth came from - a miracle?
      Luke 23:53 (King James Bible)
      "And he took it down, and wrapped it IN LINEN, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid."

    Galatians 3,1 Seems To Be Referring To The Shroud. Please Check This Out. Thanks

    Barry appears to be a wonderful, kind, intelligent man. I know he is a Jew and sounds like he will never change. That said I am praying before his death that he will accept Jesus Christ as the true Messiah, which according to his own research, he has proved that Jesus Was buried in that shroud. But evidently miraculous as the shroud appears to be, Barry only believes that Jesus was crucified, buried with the very shroud that had an x-ray, photographic, light eminated thru it, and yet he will not accept that Jesus went thru all of that because he was just a good man, or perhaps prophet. Not our Savior.

    Real Catholics always knew that the Shroud has Jesus's image on it. Its so that the jews need to get to the same realization why they end up investigating the shroud. God has a sense of humor.

      It sure is easy for some people to prove just how incredibly ignorant they are. Perfect proof right there.

    Does being skeptical mean no bias? Indeed, going into a subject deciding to disprove it all “in the name of science” is a biased opinion going into the subject. Just saying, it’s not believing in Santa Clause and fairytales to realize that the most influential human of all time who also was God would leave relics and artifacts here to be seen.

    The man in the shroud image is distorted proportionately. Try this: Lie on the floor. Hold your arms limp as though you were dead. Now try to reach your groin WITH YOUR elbows still on the ground. You'd have to elongate your fingers to achieve modesty JUST AS THE ARTIST WHO did this has done. Then tell me how this is a real person on the image.

      Scholars believe his right shoulder was dislocated, which is why the right arm is 10 cm longer than his left. Also, look at the image, his arms do not appear to be on the ground. Scholars agree that this is not a work of art, there are no pigments on the cloth.

      When the winding strip is tied around the torso - to keep the shroud on the body - it brings the forearms closer together and the hands drop lower. The shroud fits this precisely. Try this - standing or lying down - place your hands together in front with your arms limp. Now bring your elbows about 6 inches closer together (simulating the winding strip being tied tighter around the torso) and you will see that the hands move down.

    THE SHROUD OF TURIN
    As seen by Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich
    The Blessed Virgin, the holy women, the men-all were kneeling round the body of Jesus to take their farewell of it, when a most touching miracle took place before them. The sacred body of Jesus, with all its Wounds, appeared imprinted upon the cloth which covered it, as though he had been pleased to reward their their love, and leave them a portrait of himself through all the veils with which he was enwrapped. With tears they embraced the adorable body, and then reverently kissed the wonderful impression which it had left. Their astonishment increased when, on lifting up the sheet, they saw that all the binds which surrounded the body had remained white as before, and that the upper cloth alone had been marked in this wonderful manner. It was not a mark made by the bleeding wounds, since the whole body was wrapped up and covered with Sweet spices, but it was a supernatural portrait, bearing testimony to the divine creative power ever abiding in the body of Jesus. I have seen many things relative to the subsequent history of this piece of linen, but I could not describe them coherently. After the resurrection it remained in the possession of the friends of Jesus, but fell twice in the hands of the Jews, and later was honoured in several different places. I have seen it in a city of Asia, in the possession of some Christians Who were hot Catholics. I have forgotten the name of the town, which is situated in a province near the country of the Three Kings.I also saw something connected with Turin and France and Pope Clement I, as well as something about the emperor Tiberius, who died fifty years after the death of Christ,but I have forgotten it.

The Shroud of Turin has been studied *tens of thousands of hours* by many dozens of scientists and doctors they have proven *100%* that it contained the body of a beaten, scourged, crucified man that was *wearing a crown of thorns* while on the cross and that it dates back to Biblical times. And for sure you believe that Peter, Paul and the other disciples preached the Gospel Of The Shroud to prove the resurrection. Why Jesus appeared first the women, then his disciples and later more than 500 others? Not any word of a Shroud from the very beginning. Start reading the Bible, at least the New Testament.
      2 Timotheus 3
      16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
      Hebrew 4
      12For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
      John 3,16
      For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
      John 8
      31Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
      John 14,6
      Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
      1Joh 1,9
      If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purif us from all unrighteousness.
      John 14,23
      Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
      Gal 5,22+23
      But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

      Joseph of Arimathea bought all the needed linen cloth (SINDON).
      1 Corinthians 15 (NKJB)
      1Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm.
      2By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
      7Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.

      @@wipo3654 Not much doubt as to your Shroud ignorance.

If no one who obeys Christs commandments know then it probably is not real. This is not about how smart you are. Gods truth has to pass through the heart to be heard by us.
