The difficulty is that most people just want to win. Trying to fix the problem vs someone trying to win an argument usually just ends in frustration. Usually, the only hope is that they ponder the conversation later and accidentally see their mistake. Both parties have to be trying to fix the problem and that rarely happens unless they were already on the same side.

Aye, read your open message to the world. Idk if I’ll ever find a peace or safety I once knew in our ever devolving world; but wish me luck as I strive to make a living as a media-streamer. I use to work a full-time job until I realized I was just picking up everyone elses slack, on top of my employer telling me I deserve to be single and ostracized. And my prior employer making death threats against my family...I realize this is the standard in the United States now.

@sakor88 The irony is that it's weak, lost people like yourself who need Peterson's message the most. It's a vicious circle though: you hate Peterson BECAUSE he accurately points out you are the architect of your own failure, but your aversion to personal responsibility causes you to bitterly reject that message. You're caught in your own trap. Instead of taking personal responsibility you're angrily and childishly lashing out at the person who is telling you how you can escape this trap.

Then one day, on the 30th August 2020, 3 days after giving birth to my stillborn who passed away before I gave birth to her and nearly died myself, i decided I finally had the courage to stand up to him... I left him, applied to University through clearing, got in to a University over 100 miles away, moved there by myself and got a fresh start, and so now its one year later and I am finally succeeding in working towards a career I love, with a new boyfriend who treats me right. Failing can be seen as the end. Or you can see it as just the beginning. One step along the path to success. Just figure out what went wrong, plan to do things differently next time, get up and go again. If you fail again, repeat... Keep repeating until you succeed. You don't have time to waste on self blame and self hate or blaming others. Blame solved nothing, achieves nothing. You need to learn from failure. It's great teacher. Yes, which makes some sense, but also completely misses that the degree to which people can control their own actions is also regulated by society. We live in a sharply divided culture innthe West where divide and rule is the order of the day. The level of commitment and drive it takes to overcome the obstacles society/family places in your way varies dramatically from person to person. Peterson comes from an individualistic persepective which plays perfectly into neoliberalism and other destructive forces in our world. Don't look at injustice just focus on yourself and tidy your own bedroom and take responsibility, and you don't deserve a voice if you can't do this. Not sure he is a truly benevolent force in the world. He comes from an extremely privileged position.

"... you want to fix the problem, that's the winning.." that's one of the most humane, wise, and kind ends of a speech that made me speechless almost. Some of Jordan's words were so to the point that I had to laugh out loud, for there's no way to "beat around the bush". I'm so very happy with this great advice, so straightforward without any woo hoo vibe in it. Thank you! 🙋‍♀️💙

I wished they would have sold me on the fact that it can and is joyful, wonderful, the most rewarding experience to experience, and looking forward to take on as much of it as I can. @@benconnor3625 actual problem with responsability is that often it's quite misproportionate. some jobs are paid super bad (even if above average) for the responsability they have. you're often blamed for things outside of your control, but it turns out you were the one who should've somehow prevent that. you can't prevent everything, but when something happens, people want blood. it doesn't matter how good they are at solving these problems. they were just unforunate to be in the charge when it happened. if everybody is a leader, who will they lead though?

I like that, I have a friend who is just that: a true friend. A genuine friend who has your back no matter what, good and bad. When I’m getting off track or in life let’s say; he always begins his honest criticism with “this might sting a little bit”…..as soon as I hear that I know it’s coming, and I’m not gonna like it. But really if you claim to be somebody’s true friend; you’re lying to them by not being honest with what they need to hear. Why did that just sound like it didn’t make sense? Lol. I’m sure you get my meaning. tc Reree

3:46-50 you can hear the difference in his voice that shows how much he cares for people. I greatly appreciate Jordan Peterson for being such a truthful, caring, loving, beautiful person. He has helped me through some of my roughest moments in this life so far. More importantly, God brought me to listen to him. At first I didn’t want to consider his advice until I realized how much of it aligns with the Truth of the Gospel and the Scriptures. Venting for 45 minutes a month can dramatically change ur life. Especially when it's done to an objective third party and not a friend or relative who either wants to control u or make u feel good.
Setting aside 45 minutes a month to get told blunt truths and to confirm or deny ur own suspicions and biases is indeed therapeutic. Anyone telling u its not misunderstands the whole point of counseling
