    I see it has been a while since this video was made, but I thought I would add another alternative to the “heat and stick” embossing powder. You can also simply stamp with VersaMark and add the eyeshadow or PearlX powder or even chalk dust. Then spray Future floor polish or any other liquid acrylic with a mini mister to seal it. It gives a smoother texture than the embossing powder.

    Been using makeup forever! I used to compound makeup years ago, so I had tons of mica and other products leftover when I stopped. I've always told my friends that if they couldn't afford a lot of craft dusts etc., to just buy the makeup at dollar tree. It's the same mica as craft mica...just a few more ingredients.

    One other thought. You can color your texture paste by adding the eye shadow or mica powder before applying it through the stencil. Transparent texture paste will keep more of the sparkle than an opaque paste. I haven’t tried clear glue, but that might work as well.

    Interesting how this video popped up in my feed!
    I know you need to throw out your makeup after a while. But it’s so hard sometimes, and just today when I was talking to my granddaughter we were discussing how we could recycle eye shadow and blush, etc, anything that isn’t wet and we came to the realization that we could use in in our art!
    We both thought that it was a brilliant idea and we are going to give it a try!

    Some baby wipes have lotion in them and will smear the eye shadow. I would suggest using a facial wipe for removing eye makeup. And use it over either a small brush or a qtip for small tight spaces.

    I just watched your old video and am so inspired by both that one and this one. One question... the heat and stick seems to stay sticky for quite awhile after it's been heated. Is it permanently sticky if no shadow or other powder is placed over top of it? Thank so much for this tutorial. I can't wait to use up all my old makeup. ~ Lisa

    Quick question....is the heat and stick embossing powder that you used before the eyeshadow in the other embossing w/eyeshadow video the same as sticky embossing powder?

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  6 лет назад +1

      Yes, it is the same. I call it heat and stick but they no longer make that brand. It's just habit that I call it that but yes, it is the same as sticky emboss powder.

      Tarryn, ty. I’ve had 2 brand new containers of it but I couldn’t figure out what to use it for. Lol Guess who’s diving into her old eyeshadows and sticky embossing powder?...ME! I don't remember which part of the video I used Kleenex for but it if was just for dusting off the extra eyeshadow, a substitute would be paper towel, or even a regular rag. Anything like that would work I'm sure.

    how do you get the eyeshadow to stick round the sides ? do you need a heat tool for it .

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Trina, Thanks for your question. Do you mean around the sides of the teacup or around the top and bottom of the page? The teacup was edged Versamark ink and then with heat and stick powder and then yes I used a heat gun. The edges of the journal page I used double sided tape in one example and then Gesso in another example. Neither of those last two require a heat gun. You do need to work quickly when working with Gesso.

    • @trinaedwards9230
      @trinaedwards9230 6 лет назад

      thank you yes i dont have a heat gun so looking for ways to do it without . thanks

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  6 лет назад +1

      You can also use glue, double-sided tape is great. Acrylic paint works too but you have to work very fast with acrylic paint because it dries a bit faster. I have added it to regular scotch tape as well to use as plastic ribbon. It is a bit messy but very pretty on small presents.

    • @trinaedwards9230

    What is the difference between heat and stick powder and embossing powder?

    • @teatimewithtarryn
      @teatimewithtarryn  5 лет назад +3

      Heat and Stick (also known as sticky embossing powder) is embossing powder that gets sticky when it is heated. Once it is sticky you can add glitter or powders, flock or in this case we used Eyeshadow. To set the powder after adding the eyeshadow or glitter (or whatever you have stuck to it) You then re-heat it to make the adhesive permanent. This doesn't work with regular embossing powders. I hope that answered your question :)

    Applying the powdered eyeshadow isn't really embossing. It's more of gilding - like using gilder's paste. Embossing makes a raised edge.

    • @teatimewithtarryn
