Back in the late 1960's, when I was a little boy, I used to follow garbage trucks up and down the alleys of Chicago, sometimes they let me pull levers and ride in the cab. I thought garbage men had the coolest job. I especially enjoyed seeing them hanging off the back of the truck when driving down the road. Back then, Chicago had four-man crews. Not sure if they still do.
I'm a person that believes in ♻. If this waste were sitting on the curb for months, we definitely would have a health problem from all kinds of vermon... Great job, dear waste removers.
Nice find Tony! That is so cool seeing a Vegas truck in SoCal. Usually you see trucks being transferred out of California so this makes it even cooler!
Nice video! Nice to see something different every once and a while. These mcneilus RLs are very entertaining on bulk imo. I have family that lives in la crescenta right by la Canada flintridge
Love the fact Consolidated has another neat truck! Very cool to see the Republic Vegas logo, Allied Waste logos, and Operated by Consolidated Disposal Service logos all on the same truck! Now that’s pretty neat! Also first rear loader I think CDS Sun Valley Hauling has ever had
I haven’t been there since I’ve filmed this video so I can’t say for sure, but I think the BFI carts are still there. Candice was just there a couple weeks ago though so you might want to ask her
Well done Tony! Love the Vegas truck in SoCal, running a citywide clean up route! Does anyone happen to know the brand of manual bin that was at 19:15? I’ve been trying to find one of them for years, but don’t know the brand name...
That is a 45 gallon Trashmaster made by United Solutions. They are no longer made, no surprise because they seem to be of terrible quality. Walmart sold them.
Wow, Sun Valley's just been full of surprises this past year! Awesome find, definitely something I did not expect. Crazy to think they're so short on trucks they had to bring this from out of state! Really liked the fast blade on this truck, kept things entertaining throughout the video. Even got a couple cart being tipped! Nice! Didn't know La Canada had a CCU, were the other 2 haulers rolling through with their own trucks to pick up stuff? That would be cool to see one of NASA's old RLs out here. Terrific find!!!
yup, two annual cleanups in LCF, one in May and one in November. The day I was there I saw a diesel Pete Amrep front loader from Athens (#405 I think it was) and a flatbed from Athens, however I heard they had been running one the 5000s, a New Way, and an EZ Pack earlier in the week. Thanks Aaron!
Athens had a diesel Pete Amrep front loader, #405 I believe it was. All I saw from NASA was a flatbed however I heard they had been using a variety of their rear loaders earlier in the week. Thanks!
Still cant wrap my head around the fact that they sent one of our trucks down there lol. Looks like this truck came from the Henderson yard since they have 1301-1313. I wonder if theyll repaint this truck and remove the vegas website? Glad you found this truck! Now that all of vegas/clark county is automated these trucks will mainly run bulk routes and maybe some dumpsters too! also what did david think of this truck?
they'll definitely finish rebranding it but I doubt they'll repaint it given its age and that it's diesel. He really liked everything about it, said it had no problems.
Dominic H actually the driver is very smart doing what he did with the packer. Bulk waste doesn’t pack well. Only 6-8 tons if you just run a cycle per hopper. If you use the blade to crush up the bigger pieces to be smaller, you can fit a lot more in the truck, like 10 tons or so. I used to do the same thing running bulk pickup for the big green machine.
No they operate it like that on purpose. By them not letting the blade go up all the way and pushing it down early, it crushes the bulk to conserve space in the truck. That was smart of them to do that.

thanks!
I can believe they touched that haunted couch!

lol yup quite the surprise and very cool!
+WasteManTony Glad they made it a La Canada unit so by contract it has to be branded AW
How many times do they have to empty on a route like this?
good job people
I live in Vegas and you still see these running a few routes once in a while but mostly bulk pickup or if your trash wasn't picked up
Sweet looking machine. I’m coming back to this after seeing about 10 of these sitting in the Vegas yard. They still have the BFI carts there?

Cool video. Chair did a nice save at 0:14. That’s pretty cool they got a truck from Vegas. What did NASA and Athens run?

Wow - disposable furniture.
Do you think they’ll eventually repaint this truck
Doubt it, if so will be branded AW.

Baseball Cap Man likes to play with the Packer Blade doesn't he!

The men look tired / lazy and cannot even operate the blade correctly.
No they operate it like that on purpose. By them not letting the blade go up all the way and pushing it down early, it crushes the bulk to conserve space in the truck. That was smart of them to do that.
Seems like someone who has no clue talking about something he shouldn't be.
