- Thanks to Kenny for letting me film! Well since Kennys route is about 20 minutes from me and I haven’t posted bulky I figured I should definitely get some video! Was really fun to see Kenny working solo taking on some nice bulk piles! Hope you guys enjoy! Make sure to subscribe as big things are coming for the new year! That’s all going to a incinerator. All the metals will be sorted and sold all that’s left is pure ash. The ash is the only thing that’s going to a landfill

I work the Rear Load for Waste Connections in Toronto. We do Commercial properties, which includes Condominiums, Apartment buildings, and businesses. But we do have a two person team, and the amount of bulk we pick up from each location is at least 10 times what this guy is picking up. Fair enough, for he is just one person. But the workout we get by the end of the day, makes up for any gym membership, free of charge during the 10 hour workday we normally have.

I'm in UK and all bulky stuff has to be taken to a council tip as council only empties the wheelie bins.
At the tip we have to sort metal, paper, etc into correct maxi skips or else!

WOW ! it is a wonder that the scrappers did not get all the steel. Here you put something out made of steel or other metals and 10 minuts later it is gone.

@Screwdriver440 I don't know how california waste collection works, but I'm thinking they separate metal at a sortation facility. Otherwise in a place like California, they would send a separate collection truck for metal. When I lived in Toronto back in the 1990s they had a separate truck to collect metal (refrigerators, stoves, etc.)

There is always an after market for these trucks.....
One thing most common in the garbage industry is a rule do not put anything flammable inside the truck A spark will set it off and the truck will burst into flames. Do not put lawnmowers in the garbage trucks. This guy must be a newbie
It is amazing how he threw the barbecue oven into the garbage truck without checking to see if a propane tank was still connected... kaboom
He clearly checked for fuel in the lawn mower and there was nothing so they are completely fine to be packed. This is a very normal item for bulky collection.
@@Luke418Church Also he very clearly checked the entire barbecue. He checked for a tank and lines. Also in the video you can see there is absolutely nothing connected to the barbecue.

@@westernstategarbagetrucks he did I looked back he check underneath and you can tell there’s nothing connected. And the Mower He ALSO checks if it had any gas before crushing.
Just reading through some of the comments on here from other garbage crush fans. Personally I like to see large appliances crushed the best. I think loading with a tractor spoils things somewhat as the items being loaded are severely weakened before facing the crusher! What do others think?
I’d say it’s probably about split with what people like. A lot of people like seeing the crews throw a big couch or fridge in the truck and see it get packed. Some people like the fast pace of the tractors and how they snag all kinds of things. I personally like seeing the crews hand load the bulky items, since I get to see everything get destroyed. @@Nicholas-f5 what ARE you talking about? They don't put CFCs in fridges anymore. There are loads of examples on youtube of fridges going in garbage trucks in the US 🇺🇸 and Australia. So obviously it must be legal or you wouldn't see Councils and regulated waste collectors doing it!

Recycling is largely a myth. Pretty much a marketing scam. Most "recyclables" just get exported and dumped overseas. A small percentage is actually re-used.
@@e.l.norton I live in Europe. I used to live Germany and Austria. A maschine pay back the price of bottles. Plastic and aluminium. The houses have own recycling bin. Old things like in the video are delivered on different days or you can take them to the right place. It is free. It is works in Hungary too, I am Hungarian.
I would hope they run it through a magnet to pick most of the metal but clearly recycling doesn't seem to be the objective here.

Loved following garbage trucks on bicycle in my pyjamas through rain , snow and sunshine during my youth age from 6 to 13 . The sheer pressure of the blade is what intrigued me most, crushing everything and anything bulk-sized thrown at it inside the hopper - Ohhhh Thhheeee Memories ❤❤

This is really an outdated way to collect rubbish/waste, a lot of that could and should have been recycled.
In Spain there is one thing and one good thing in the same job. The bad news is that the boss would order you to do it much faster, they don't give you time here. And the good news is that two people always go in the garbage trucks
I think you meant to say two people always ride on the back of the garbage truck! Taking a trip inside the garbage truck would not be pleasant!

It’s for CNG (compressed natural gas) so it’s not like Diesel that makes the air smoky.
this looks like the way to do a bulky rout .. until you come to a fridg/freezer-washer/dryer water heater or maybe there's a separate truck for white goods, electronics aren't supposed to go in the landfill either, I do see a hernia in kenny's future tho, this should be a two man job the way I see it
They do not pick up hazmat materials, like propane tanks, gasoline, etc. The blade on the truck is not meant to crush items, though it more or less does it on a regular basis. It is just meant to sweep the item whole inside the truck, but sometimes due to the size of the items like a sectional, or a big sofa, it ends up tearing it apart before sweeping it inside.
And yes, it is supposed to be a two man job. Tells how much the company cares for the person.
Thought some laze ass was in the cab but the guy is all by himself.

Trash Man Daniel Elk Grove scrapped there old rear loaders so.. well we had own for a while then elk grove has to be CNG.

Sad to see alot going to a landfill forever from just one pickup. Bbq metal bed frame etc…those materials are recyclable and so are the mattresses. Most mattresses contain metal coils or “springs” within them which are reused or recycle as metal. The mattress fabric is also recycled as insulation material. Alot of material unnecessarily went to a landfill forever and ever from just one man in one garbage truck. Imagine the entire usa, or world for that matter.

Deberian dar de donacion a las casas de caridad ya que mucha gente no tiene ni casa y peor aun muebles es una pena despues hablamos de reciclar cuando estos autos son realmente para basura real y no asi para muebles que ñueden ser reutilizados por personas que lo necesitan donde ira tanta badura porque al final cortamos muchos arboles para hacer estos muebles y a nafie parece interesarles aprendamos de el daño que le hacemos a nuestro planeta sillas colchones mesas camas y otro tipo de objeto deberian dejar que las personas que les gusta recolectar y darles una nueva oportunidad lo hagan un dia no tendremos un lugar bueno porque somos personas que nos gusta solo destruir cuando en realidad hay personad que en el mundo mueren de hambre y lo vemos como castigo y no es asi es una leccion de vida y que nos sirva de experiencia ayudanos que un dia tambirn necesitaran de la nuestra gracias
