Julian you can definitely get a much better studio apartment for that price!
Get yourself an AirBnB for the first month so that you can have enough time to look for an apartment
That price is a total rip off for a 1 bed cottage, he can totally get better.
Good idea
Not even a studio he can get beautiful 3 bedroom
I agree
@@mandilufs where?
Don't let sis play you...I live in Cape town (I'm originally from Johannesburg) and my rent for R11 000 affords me a 2 bedroomed, fully furnished apartment with a view of the lake and walking distance from a mall....Johannesburg is slightly cheaper than cape town...surely you will get a better apartment
Wow! She was trying to rip me off 🤯
I agree. 12.500 per month is ridiculous. It's Norwood, not Hyde Park. Even places in Northcliff, Parkhurst and Greenside offer more.

1. Avoid vlogging in public your phone will be repossessed by professional personal belonging's reposessors "they normally great you with Voestek", walk withone arm behind their back and wear bucket hats.
2. Bev must be stocked in advance because any time is anytime with our president who is Bev's sworn enemy

I don't know if this will be helpful.. but when I moved here I stayed in an Airbnb located in Fourways/dainfern area for R8000 a month. It's two bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms , fully furnished with everything , the owner loaded the electricity whenever it ran out. She also offered long stays up to a year.
Maybe you could try that, and even do a proper apartment hunting once you're a bit more familiar with the city.
Very good idea and reasonable.. Also like that area

I too from Cape Town Rondebosch and will be relocating to Johannesburg. I need assistance please.
That’s not really a full 1 bedroom to me, it’s more like a loft situation. She seemed to rush you a little bit too. Good luck and stay safe.
well she did wait for him for an extra 1.5 hours..
Safe from?? I thought he escaped US already??
Bro just take your laptop and go to Property 24 or Private Property. Give yourself time. You will realize that Norwood might not even be the area you gonna settle in. I don't see myself living in Norwood but I understand we have different tastes.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would suggest he moves to Rosebank
I wouldn't stay there myself.
He doesn’t wanna buy furniture and probably looking for a fully furnished
It was a tad bit overpriced for a R12k rental. There are other alternatives closer to where you would want to live in under $1,000, which I assume is Sandton because its trendy and convenient especially for international guests.
*R12,500* seems somewhat steep, but then again it is fully furnished. But if you are here for a while I would recommend something modern like *The Precinct Apartments* in Midrand. A 1 bedroom should go for around *R7K* pre-month, then one would buy their own fridge & appliances... 😎 Welcome btw...
Yea I will check that out!
Yeah Midrand is much more affordable, has a variety of styles to choose from and it’s in between Pretoria and Johannesburg. That way you get the full experience of the Gauteng province
She said R1 250 and not R12 500... So that makes complete sense for a cottage in that part of the city. A nice area indeed but a single bed cottage shouldn't cost more than R4500, unless you add the electricity and wifi, then maybe we can reach those amounts.
@@kagisomgibi4644 *Thanks my guy!* you're right, @7:59 she does say.😁 *R1250* is quite reasonable...
@@kagisomgibi4644 I think she said 1250 for short. I just double checked the listing on the site and its 12, 500. Link for the property is in description box.

So nice. I’d love to see more from you in South Africa. I am transgender and from the USA. I hope to come to SA by the end of 2022 or 2023. I am considering CapeTown or Johannesburg. I’m really not sure. I just want to make sure that I am in a safe place where I can be myself and have access to suitable healthcare. Great video!!
South Africa is in fact much safer for the LGBTQ community. We have laws that equally protect the community from discrimination the same way we protect the rights of everyone else, it was the 5th country to in fact legalise marriage for the community in 2003, protected under the constitution. In terms of crime, well that depends where you are in each city.
@@hlomelalande1220 Thank you.
Speak to Black and Coloured gay and transgender people in SA…I’m neither but I can give you my perspective. There’s still a lot of learnt and cultural homophobia and transphobia in SA…transphobia isn’t even being dealt with as yet as it’s a new and developing identity we are learning of but as more ppl identify as trans in SA I guess we could see more transphobia form bigots. Legally you’re safe as SA is one of the very first countries in the world to protect same sex unions and gay rights. So government and police are tasked by law and our constitution to protect you and anyone else and discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is punishable by law in SA. Socially just like in US, Black gay community and Black transgender community, because of their proximity to poverty and often social and economic disenfranchisement, it can be unsafe to be both Black and gay when you’re poor…especially for black gay women living in townships or rural communities as those communities tend to be a bit more conservative and also socially and economically vulnerable regardless what your sexual orientation is. So I’d say it’s safe in general if you stick to more upmarket urban environments where you find your most liberal SAns of all races. In townships Black and Coloured gay men are living their best lives for sure…my cousin is gay and half lives in Soweto and Sandton…he’s been out since he was 16 and he is 25 now but they know there can be danger too (dependent on the spaces you find yourself in) but it’s the Black lesbians most at danger if you ask me. So it’s not too different to gay Black and transgender lives in say US. Hope this helps you somewhat. And yes gay and transgender ppl are most welcome in my country…❤️
@@Lanae8199 you’re most welcome. of course I will subscribe and check out your podcast. As mentioned I’m not LGBTQ+ but I’m an ally so take everything that I say from that POV…hope LGBTQ+ Black& Coloured SAns pick up on this channel and their nuanced voices & give more input on your question around their safety…

I'm glad you didn't go for that apartment in Norwood...don't let that woman fool you about Norwood..this place is just "ok"..and that's too expensive despite the furniture in place , you are practically in someone's yard.
Have you thought of the alternative of a garden cottage in someone's garden? Some are lovely and you may pay between R5000 and R7000 per month and often they are furnished. I am speaking of the more expensive but lovely northern suburbs of Johannesburg often called collectively as The Parks. The nearest business area to such cottages is a short drive to Rosebank. Good luck!
Sounds lovely
There’s no way that cottage is that money sis, Becky was taking advantage of you... with that money you can find something waaaay more perfect in Rosebank or Sandton and mind you, that is Norwood.
I hope you find an apartment in a gated community, much safer than a stand alone house. And as most comments have stated, try places like, Sandton, Rosebank, fourways and the likes. Happy shopping!
Check security whereever you decide to rent. Its very important.
Norwood, my neighbour!👌🏾 raised and spent most of my life there but I suggest you look in other better areas such as Rosebank, Northriding, Midrand, Greenstone and Randburg you'll find way better for a far less amount!

Yes Old Jewish neighborhood but it's not safe. Bramley side nje, a big no for me.
@@thandosdance1504 to be honest, nowhere is it truly full proof safe in SA as recent civil unrests in KZN& parts of GP showed us…as long as we have such high inequality based along racial lines, we will know little peace from criminals who are looking to make a quick buck due to unemployment and poverty. My gran says she feels safer in her old township than she does when visiting us in the suburbs…go figure
@@thandisilec835 I agree the inequality is inhumane to say the least n it's something the eatists in the ANC will not work on as they are comfortable being on the table with the master. Having said that, there are places that are worse than others. I actually feel safe in rural areas than Jozi. CT CBD is also also safer than Nyanga for example. Umhlanga is safer than Westville. White areas are more protected than townships. On neighborhood whatsapp groups whites are always sending messages to security guards especially when they see a black person I a car parked on the side of the road. Police respond faster to emergencies in the suburbs. Even if one is not in a gated community the fact that one's house is surrounded by whites with cameras all over n security patrols, can get away with not paying ADT.
@@thandosdance1504 I hear you and I agree with what you’ve said, there’s truth in it. My point I guess is that all that security is honestly not sustainable as majority is on verge of breaking all those security measures and barriers if we (and I use we as in SA as a nation here)don’t resolve the structural economic and inequality issues. It’s just putting band aid on a cancerous wound…the less ppl who live in poverty and living on the periphery of this society, the lower the walls can become and less security barriers will be needed is my point. Until then, we will all sleep with one eye open and I hate that abnormal feeling like you can be a static at any time…it’s abnormal& horrible for the psyche. And what makes it worse is that this isn’t an insurmountable issue…SA has enough ingenuity and capacity to turn this around if we have a government and business community that wants to partner in fixing what is an economic issue. Government alone won’t resolve it but you’re right we need them to provide the leadership and strategic policies to enable such an environment whenever Biz can make an impact. if Big Biz SA , which is still very white dominated is only willing to put profit alone ahead of everything else and doesn’t recognise nation building and cohesiveness is worth investing in and is more long term profitable for them, then we can all just keep on building higher walls but at some point those will not be enough either as we saw a month ago
@@thandisilec835 Very true. I always say it started with Mandela for selling us for a Nobel Peace Prize which he shared with the Apartheid apologist. We have everything we need to fix our country in terms of resources what we don't have is a political will. The Apartheid beneficiaries have been emboldened under Ramaphosa and we all know why this. Lest we forget that Mandela was donated a house by the Oppenheimer's n Menell's in Houghton. Which revolutionary accept a donation from the enemy? Mandela took a bribe from the Jewish Kroks and agreed to steal Mike Stainbank's Apartheid Museum Trademark. When Bra Mike fought tooth n nail, they (ANC) decided to close the taps of the Eskia Mphahlele Institute which made it possible for him to fight them. Bra Mike started the Prof. Eskia Mphahlele Institute when the Professor was still alive. Saying Mandela n the whole ANC is depraved is an understatement. Ramaphosa killed Miners who wanted a living wage n thereafter bought the Presidency with the money from the Apartheid handlers of Stellenbosch. Ramaphosa stole my father's money n many other miners when he was a leader of The National Union of Mine Workers. Now that I am old I wrote to him as the President n when he ran around, I went to Luthuli House demanding to see him. All I can say is that the man has no balls for a lack of a better word. He sent people to threaten me with State Security n the Police. The thing is he knows that it's the truth n fortunately my mother is still alive. What pained me was the fact that my father trusted Ramaphosa thinking he was with them. When my mother told us when we were younger I refused to believe it. When I learnt the painful truth I got angry at myself for not believing my mother. U see the Apartheid leaders, business had a strategy from the onset. They knew that if we were to be equal they won't feel superior coz we are intelligent n driven so they decided to give the dog a bone n keep the rest out. Mama Winnie worked very hard to keep the fires burning when Madiba was in jail. When she refused to be bought they told him to divorce her, what kind of a man is that? We were never liberated, our fathers wor6this land n built this economy while the Mbekis et.al. were studying in the UK. Look at how the ANC used Chancellor House n ensured that the get to be Non-Executive members of private companies. I know our struggle as a Native, my daughter was refused access to education n I ended up home schooling her bcoz of my stand towards the Afrikaner racists that are in bed with the ANC. I stand with my truth. Ramaphosa n Cele gave whites n Indians instructions to kill our people in the name of protection n we know that those were directly coming from Stellenbosch. Mapisa-Nkqakula removal from defence was caused by her refusal to send soldiers to KZN. Ramaphosa cam buy the Presidency but can't buy leadership qualities unfortunately. His companies together with white Owned companies are milking Eskom n no one is saying anything. Matshela Koko's reputation was tarnished by the media due to him n Brian Molefe refusing to continue benefiting whites by renewing those evergreen contracts. In KZN all the tenders go to Indians n the ANC elite. Our mother work in those Indian triple story houses with three families on each floor. Each brother having a wife n six kids, they start with the beds then dishes for each floor n get paid R500 a month, n I am not lying. The ANC sellouts children are in private schools studying online while our kids lost almost 2yrs of studying. The aim is to ensure that a few of us make it under these difficult circumstances so that their kids rule over ours like they did to us. Am very angry n should leave it at this. Love n light my dear, together we stand!

That place is overpriced, sorry. You can get a way cheaper and nicer apartment - 2 bed 2 bath for 70% of that price. I'm glad you didn't go for it . Loved this vlog 😍
Where do you live?
Also with our houses. We don't really have heating here. We dress warmly and have heaters
You can honestly get a townhouse or proper apartment for that price
When you asked about the mattress and she said there will be no there wasn't gonna be because that's not the usual here in this country but to secure it right you know they will do anything so of course since you sure to have such potential in renting the property of course they can negotiate getting a mattress even if it's one from the house and they will see when you pay rent they buy another mattress with the money
Wait , did we just witness a robbery OMG . Those two guys sped off with the lady’s phone
🤯🤯
Wow! Nothing to see here. Lol
Bro, I appreciate you sharing your experiences with us but I wouldn't recommend you show us where you live. Give us very general descriptions of the region

Was going to say didn’t U notice the theft of the guys phone behind you, saying that if your aware of what’s around you SA is as safe as most places, I much prefer Cape Town though I must say… Safer and a generally nicer vibe than Jo’berg…. I’ll be following your adventures ✌🏼
Someone's phone was snatched lool haha that's my country for you but funny enough I've never got mugged
Cape is the most dangerous city in SA tho
Where was the theft, in the video?
@@ifp748 at 42 seconds. The guy running there just stole another guy's phone.
Such a great video. Great job with the footage.
