I loved the video but I’m on the fence too. I want to see more options. The kitchen was cool but the deposit was a NO. The bedroom was too small. The building itself was wonderful and quiet.
Best thing to do in Cape Town.. From my experience.. speak to the security guards in buildings.. they usually know a lot.. like ask them if there’s someone renting out a unit etc x
It’ was so nice meeting you @Chicken licken (cape town / Addely street ) today . Such an amazing person , love your vibe . Can’t forget how we struggled taking a picture because of lighting and hight issues 😂😂… Absolutely love your videos ❤️
I’m so sorry that pictures does not deserve the internet 😂. Hope one day when I walk pass you again I’ll be glammed up and boom perfect lighting . Stay blessed ✨
Greetings Juian! I am a 63 yo FAN...yes honey & I have been following you since you were living in Mexico. I enjoy every one of your broadcasts. You are such a lovely person, great attitude and having fun living. Please keep looking for an apt. - your heart was not in this one!
For the price I would suggest you take it. You can always get a big rug to cover the carpet. and then you can look for what you really want knowing you are not paying too much where you live so you won't be pressured to rush your decision
I love how friendly you are! Beautiful energy 🦋✨ I liked the dark accents in the kitchen. Not a lot of sunlight tho :/ I find it so interesting these apartment come fully furnished!
Hey babes...I don't know why your notification are not ringing through but popped up once I logged in...I'm mad. I love you so much my beloved. I feel like you're my little brother so when I see your videos they make me happy.
Cape Town rent is the highest in South Africa. You need too be making very high salaries to afford rents, especially in certain areas like the City Bowl, Green Point and Sea Point. Possibly look at areas like Woodstock or Observatory, still close to the city yet more affordable. Love you videos. Making me miss Cape Town.
Hey julian ,Keep it as back up but keep looking until you get something in a great area with all the amenities(Clean Modern Bathroom and Clean modern kitted Kitchen) that you need and the right price.
I saw comment which I like. If it is 70 % of your wants and 100% of need then move forward. You can put down strategic rugs to cover carpet. You need to reduce costs ASAP and get a better feel of CT.
I would go with furnished if possible but would make sure I get seal bedding just in case plus do a complete wall and ceiling cleaning with deep carpet cleaning. I would burn sage to get out any negative spiritual energy. I would do this any place I would permanently move to.
From RealSouthAfrica with the Blantons to Unapologetic Nomads with Ala Micki and her husband in Jhb to Julian Albino in Cape Town, Lately African Americans are making their mark in Africa. So no one is gonna say anything about Cape Town being clean, calm and quiet?
I live in Cape Town. Cape Town is very much a segregated city. The white governers of Cape Town have kept it that way on purpose. It's cleaner and quiet where the wealthy white folks reside and the popular tourist spots, because the city ensures that. Black neighborhoods have been left to rot. To give you an example, the black parts of the city flooded a few days ago, because the city does not care that the drainage system is maintained in these communities. It's not their priority.
Just be warned of the noise from the drummers and dancers downstairs on Saturday mornings. It's hectic! It's a lovely location but for me it was very depressing living in a dark apartment with no terrace.
Keep looking you might have to find something outside of Cape Town. Since so many people want to live there it might be hard to find the perfect luxury apartment within your price range.
R14,500 rands? its a swedish price = around 8500 swedish kr, so South Africa is not cheap anymore. Probably better to buy, its cute little apartment. Im not sure if I would take it because its small and not much free space. Thank you for taking us along.
You might want to check out Bloubergstrand. About 14 Klicks North of downtown. We stayed there the last time we were in Capet Town. Real nice up there and I think there is public transportation.
It's just okay frien. I think you should keep looking around. You like the finer things in life and that ain't it! You didn't leave the U.S. to settle. That carpet was disgusting, the natural light was a bust and that shower floor was grotesque. Absolutely not! You would cringe putting your feet on that tile and deep down you know it. Anywho, I never comment but I had to. Love your channel and have been watching your journey since the beginning. 🤎🥰 You've definitely inspired a lot of Americans to visit SA bc of your vlogs. 🤎🤎🤎
Please look at sea point and Greenpoint....I viewed some nice apartments in that area.Good luck finding a place.I had a issue also with the 2months deposit.
Did you find a place? I was told by a local to never trust by paying a security deposit. ? I'll look a couple more weeks but then I must buy a flight onward if nothing good happens.
Nice place Julian.price point security sounds great. While looking try to look at 2 or 3 in 1 day. You know they always want an answer by the day of or next...RUSH 😌 good luck.
Thats very good for the price its cape town not joburg most people who commented on last video are probably from joburg because I was one of the few who said for the price point and area its decent ,the rest of sa don't understand cpt market unless you from cpt.I say take it for that price.cpt housing market is overinflated compared to rest of sa.
R15000 for a studio apartment ? 🙄😧 I paid that for a three bedroom triple story with: game's room, pool, jacuzzi, home office and maid's quarters. in JHB. They are ripping you off!
If a place has 70% of what you want and 100% of what you need then you should get it. Two months deposits is not bad , you are spending that in a place that you are not happy living in.
Hi Julian, I am curious about something 😅 I seem to remember some time ago you said that you don’t cook, but I noticed that twice during this viewing you mentioned the importance of the kitchen for you. Please don’t think I am knocking that, one of the most important things for me is ALWAYS the kitchen. Like you, I left home as a “non-cook” but, after living in the UK for a while and craving some of the food my mom used to make, she was Jamaican/American, I started dabbling in the kitchen and because of my formulation science career, I quickly became quite good at cooking. Anyway, what I am curious about is, so, have you now started dabbling in the kitchen and have you learned how to cook ? Don’t “settle for a place” that is not really what you want. Perhaps you could try to find an interim Airbnb or short term apartment which hopefully might be cheaper than your current situation, while you continue your search. As always, I wish you all the best. 💕
I still haven’t turned on a stove in over a year, and still can’t cook 😂 but I like to host friends and the kitchen is typically the common gathering spot.
The apartment is too small for me. Plus, I have a lot of clothes and shoes. That is what I have noticed about apartment in various countries. It’s like that have the same clothes that last them for 2 weeks.
If they can replace the carpet take the apartment. The bathroom is not so nice either but you are not there to live forever. You can get cheaper places but then you will have to pay a lot of money in uber to get in and out. Or you will have to take them white minibuses with the crazy drivers.
Reasonable price, I didn't like the carpet either.the bathroom was nice also they should clean a place before showing it.Honestly if you are anxious to get out of hotel and the cons are not to bad go for it and you can still keep looking.Best wishes for a place you can be happy
I feel like its too small even if its just you, I feel like a place you choose to stay you should feel comfortable and nothing about that first one looked comforting. Keep looking🤭
Get disposable masks, they're less environmentally friendly but you can comfortably breathe through them. You can tell you get out of breath in the cloth ones.
Give this Video a Thumbs Up if I should rent this??
Rent it.... is it a contract or month to month?
3 / 6 / 12 month lease options
I loved the video but I’m on the fence too. I want to see more options. The kitchen was cool but the deposit was a NO. The bedroom was too small. The building itself was wonderful and quiet.
True. I also didn’t like that there was no window in the bedroom

Cape Town rent is probably the highest in the country
Very true, I live in Cape town and it's expensive
Its super crazy :-(
In Joburg you get 2 room apartment in fourways for 5k Rands

Hey Julian. I think you should check out apartments in Woodstock. There are modern apartments and the rent is reasonable.
my area
I hear Gympie street rocks.
That place transformed so much, I couldn't recognise anything the last time I was there. It looks super Hipster now.
Julian you’re famous in Cape Town my beautiful son. Praying you find what you’re looking for.
That shower floor!🙌 Keep looking Julz.

Broaden your search area to outside of the cbd itself and youll see how prices drop
So true the price drops and crime rises
What are the closest to CBD but outside.
Woodstock and Observatory
Personally I’d go with a black realtor, especially in Cape Town as a black person
Any suggestions? I'm in the USA
Right on! Find a black or coloured realtor.
