I can tell from this video and the comments, there is a good amount of Afro American brothers and sisters living in Merida. As a Mexican, all I can say is I feel proud to see people from other ethnicities and cultures want to move and live in my country. (I’ve never been to Merida) but we Mexicans welcome you to our country. Ironically, I am a Mexican born and raised but I reside in the USA since 2007. Great video btw.

I seen from different RUclips channels few black Americans who moved to Meridian, Mexico. And the prices of some of the apartments are crazy. Im like fam lets move. Cause working hard trying to save money to survive here n the usa is not getting us nowhere. But working harder not seening what u worked so hard for. Cant enjoyed yourself when u get old. Be too damn tired or sick. And some of the house like a 5 bedroom-4 bath run you like 6 to 1000 a month. I have saved up 18000 i know i would need more but n mexico thats like 100 to 200,000

I liked #2, the furnished one and the only one that has something that looks like a pool. Also, those apartments may look like a bargain to people from the US, but in Mérida they are considered high rent, very expensive. Another thing I've observed in many Mexican homes is a tendency to build stairs without handrails, which I think it's very dangerous. Regarding Mérida, you often see what appear to be very nice homes/apartments, but built in new developments that are really undeveloped: no sidewalks, dusty streets, few trees, not meant for people to walk or stroll, but you really need to have your own transportation. Then many of these are for sale, but I have read comments from some Mexicans who say those houses are built to look "pretty" or modern, but are not really well built. Developers really want to make a quick profit and then they will not be held accountable when things go wrong. The reason electricity is not included is because Mérida is really, really hot and humid, very humid in the summer and actually most of the year,, except for 3 or 4 months, and people will need to use their air conditioning units a lot. That will consume a lot of electricity, which then translates into very high bills. They do not seem to have central air there either. Also, it rains a lot in Mérida and there is also flooding in many areas, so those developments with hardly any sidewalks and undeveloped streets with no public drainage could become a nightmare to navigate. Although I would think in the newest ones some type of drainage should exist, but do not take anything for granted.

It should be like that in the states. I mean like you said, it’s so simple to get a apartment in Mexico. In the states you have to going through pens and needles just put a roof over your head. You have to have good or very good credit to get a decent apartment or home. But in Mexico all you need is your passport and cash!

I live in a house 2 floors, 1 backyard, laundry room outside, 2 bedrooms with a full closet each one, two bathrooms, water is free, it came with furniture the whole house. The natural light is beautiful here. We have a park 3 blocks from here. Drug store, restaurants, small and big grocery stores. The area is one is the nicest of the city, big houses, clean, lots of parks, very safe city.... I pay $600 dlls just that.
