I snaped that T50 trying to get that alt pully off. Dont put too much stank on it, if it won't come out hit it with some penetrating oil and let it sit a night. Its a real pain trying to get the broken T50 out of the bolt if you snap it in there
Can the H balancer failing cause the car no crank? I have a 335d and was driving and my wipers came on and wouldn’t turn off , then all dash lights came on, and car shut off , and hasn’t cranked since
Just ordered one for my 335d. Starting from scratch how long should this job take a competent mechanic? When you turn the engine over to get the flex plate lock tool to locate in the hole flex plate lock hole are you turning the engine manually using the crankshaft pulley?
100% make sure u do it while spinning the crannk shaft, i messed up and thaught he meant with engine on and i got super crazy noise & strange burning smell FML, Thank you Andrew for the videos and support and work you do for our vehicles
@@DJayH34TB34TZ you tried to put that pin lock in there with the engine running?! Bro you need to lay off the weed for a while. You're lucky it didn't catch a hole.
Does the Fluidampr reduce the noticeable vibration of the M57 enough to feel the difference as a passenger? My mom loves her X5 35D but hates the vibration.
@@TuneMyEuro I'll check into that but I think it's just the normal amount. We've owned it for almost 40k miles and we test drove several that felt the same way. It also goes to a very good indy shop that checks everything for us before long trips. They've never mentioned anything. Thank You
Hi, I'm halfway into this job. My engine does not have the hole to lock the crankshaft as I'm doing this on a pre LCI 535d. Thinking of making myself a tool using my old v-rib belt to hold the crankshaft while torquing down the bolts. The procedure won't be much unlike how the alternator pulley was installed.
@@TuneMyEuro where is this hole when the engine is still in the truck, I see you lay om the engine near the end of the video. In the example you show is nice but I would like to see the camera look down through the engine bay. Thank you so much
Really appreciate the video.. used it for my 2013 X5 35d. Went with the alt clutch pulley and new tensioner, etc.
I should ship my 35D down to you. This video is a blessing.
That wouldn't be a problem, we have vehicles shipped to us every week.

This video helped a lot! Thanks!
Nice tutorial, thanks for the info!
I have to get this done on my 335d at some point.
Thanks Andrew !

@tunemyeuro Is the pulley clutched or a 1 way bearing?
Does upgrading to a alternator clutch pulley makes a difference with stock crankshaft pulley? Thank you!

What is the tools called?
Anyone has done or know alternative options to the pin that holds the flywheel..?
@TuneMyEuro what is this 33 point alternator socket you speak of? As well, have you done a thermostat video?
Is there one for the 2014 535d

Yes, it will make a noticeable difference but I'm going to also guess you have a broken motor mount or transfer case mount

For 535D, BMW has a special tool to hold the transmission flexplate through a hole in the bottom of the transmission bellhousing.
FixMyVW.com by AARodriguez I know. The 118183 & 118182 tool costs $143.6 USD here in Norway. I have to find another well working solution. :)

So based on this video, you have to drain the coolant?
Personally it's something I recommend
I did this without draining the coolant after watching your video. Thank you very much for the tips!!
Can I use this fluidampr for N57D30 .
This shouldn’t even be called a tutorial. You’re half way through the job when starting the video
Does it fit on BMW e60 535d M57 non facelift?
