    I am so excited to work with PolySleep Canada for more than one reason.
    1. They are a Canadian Company who sources Canadian materials.
    2. They don't send out pamphlets with their mattress to save on paper while directing you to their website where all their info is (linked below)
    3. They use water bade ink in their boxes so they are RECYCLE-ABLE. (They also make cool club houses)
    4. They are the only mattress of their kind that does not require a box spring and theirs has a built in support frame. (WIN if your building a low platform bed like this one!)

    My king size Mattress is 76 x 80
    Cut TWO of your 2x10 at 76 inches long and TWO at 83" (your mattress is 80 inches wide but remember your making a frame and you will butt joint the corners)
    cut two of your 2x4's at 75 inches long and the rest at 80 (the first two are your supports that will hold up the rest @80")
    FOOT BOARD AND HEADBOARD is your Mattress Width + your side board width x 2
    SIDE BOARD WIDTHS is your mattress Length + your foot board width

    That process with the stain is definitely next level. I don't know why I've never seen that before, you're brilliant! Also, I love that you brought the girls in for the final touches...and the show of super strength and super stealth. :)

      The Accidental Aquarist thanks so much! I do it on a lot of pieces and it’s by far my favourite finish technique. I also can’t go anywhere with a drill in my hand before the girls are like “me too mom!!”

    Finally! Somebody has made the bed with no middle support whatsoever. Thank you for proving the fact that King Size bed do not really need middle support under the slates which are 2X4s. Loved it.

      william edi yapi for sure. I used 4 1x10 pine for the headboard. 6 2x10 for the base and 10 2x4s for the slats across the bed for the mattress

      @@dcwoodworks i only want to build base since i dont need headboard, so im assuming u used 4 2x10 for bottom frame then 3 1x10 for side n footboards plus the 10 2x4 for the slats

    For the frame's length you made it 3" longer than the mattress. Is that for the headboard? I'm really trying to see how you did the headboard, but it's kind of tough.

    • @dcwoodworks
      @dcwoodworks  2 месяца назад +1

      I did it 3 inches longer to account for the 1.5 inches on each end. (2x4 but the 2 is actually 1.5) hope that helps!

      @@dcwoodworks Thank you so much for making this video, I finished my bed frame yesterday. It turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted. I used 2x12s for the main base boards, 2x8s for the headboard and side overhang things, and 2x4s. I cut the base boards 80" wide and 81" length. I used 2 brackets in each corner of the main boards to keep them attached with 1/4" bolts. This thing is rock solid! There won't be any of that headboard smacking the back wall or anything. The mattress I bought is a 14" thick mattress (btw this might be the most underrated mattress of all time) and it fits absolutely perfect. I did that Japanese flame technique on all of the wood, if you've never tried that, it's super easy and definitely worth it!

    so i’m putting two queen beds tg so the footboard would be 148 in the sideboard would be 168 in slats would be 132” im confused on what to do where you put 2x4=8 what would my measurements be for the little side that the support slats are nailed too

    • @dcwoodworks
      @dcwoodworks  Год назад +1

      measure the 168 sides. side to side
      measure wherever you have the support 2x4. so the one that the slat will sit on, measure that.

    Hi, awesome vid. But i dont understand how your matress can hold in place when there is no middle bar supporting the horizontal planks. I.meam, if i lay down.. my 200 pounds will break these.

    • @dcwoodworks
      @dcwoodworks  3 года назад

      There’s 8 2x4s as the support. They will take Your 200 pounds no problem. The beds you get from big box stores send 3 pieces of 1x4. Total crap
      Trust me. And if not you could always build a center post too
