What a fanctastic design, I'm a big fan of plywood and this is a great example of why. As you said you could modify this in a number of ways, I think a live edge headboard would be awesome too.
If you wanted to create an different finish you could veneer whatever you wanted on top of that ply and trim it so you don't see the ply layers.

@brdn mr I don't know that to tell you man, people have different tastes. I've always been incredibly minimalist in terms of decorations and furnishings in my bedroom. Even at university people always asked me why I didn't have things hanging all over the walls, I just don't like how it looks. Simple, clean, and sleek, the only thing I would add to the room is a bookshelf or two.

Maybe you could use perforated drawer liner under the mattress. I think you can get it in rolls. And it wouldn’t have to be permanent, since it will grip on the wood and the mattress. Put some at the top and bottom of the bed.

Those legs are $200. Not including lumber/supplies/tools.
I typically just find a used wood boxspring, strip it down to the bare wood frame, sanitize, and screw a half inch plywood sheet on top. Nearly free. Can be raised on a normal metal bed frame, or prop on cinderblocks for a few bucks (just run 2x4s along the sides for added support).

Yeah, of course anyone can do that for free but it looks normal, tasteless and lacks any personality or design intent. This project was not created to be the cheapest bed frame out there, it's designed to be an authentically minimal bed frame to reflect a personal approach to room-decorating.

Add a router in to this mix of tools to put roundovers on all the edges for a more smooth, safer and modern look/finish.
I’m going to build this for my new house and some of the other plywood furniture, I think it looks really cool and can look super expensive if done right by routing the edges and filling all the screw holes.

I was having the same doubt! I feel like a stopper by the foot of the mattress would be a good and quick solution, or actually positioning the under-matress slates under the frame (screwed on and secured, which would also mean way more work) to create a depression for the matress to sit in and not move around

A really easy fix is to stick some velcro to the frame to line up with the mattress. You don't have to have velcro on the mattress as well. The rough side should provide a lot of friction against most fabrics.

Think I would lose the side table and use anti slip Matt on the slats to stop the mattress slipping.

Well if I had to guess around 300-350 the leg system is 199$ but you can 40 bucks off with his code and it looks like he used 2 or 3 sheets of high quality ply that's about 50 a pop plus 2x6 and screws think 300-350 is a fair estimate

why would I waste money on glue and hours of glueing wood together if Im gonna use screws 2 minutes later, its not only a total waste of money and time it also makes the bed undetachable. So no I´d rather build actually useful things

I really applaud the american made / recycled focus. More americans need to secure the wealth of this nation (so it grows) versus selling it away.

Looks very nice, but without fastening the madres´, it will slide when you use the head rest. Also I would fasten the wood used as springs.
