Very informative video. Hoping you can help me out with something. I was getting a code p0455 so I changed the purge solenoid valve and now I am getting code p0496. Does suggest I have a faulty purge valve? I didn't do anything vacuum testing of the new valve before I installed it.
Did you clear the p0455 and how long did it take for P0496 to set, In order for the P0455 to set the EVAP system or the PCM activates the purge solenoid to add engine vaccum to the system and colses the vent solenoid the EVAP system should hold vacuum for a preset time in the PCM the faster the vacuum decay the larger the EVAP leak. The purge solenoid is The main cause of code P0496 if the car runs rough or stalls out after refueling that's a telltail of bad purge solenoid and yes you may have a bad new purge solenoid so you need to test it.
@@thecarfixchannel3046 thanks for getting back to me. once i changed the solenoid value and cleared the 0455 code, it took about four days for the 0496 code to show up. Keep in mind, i drive my car about 5 miles every day. I since put a new solenoid in, and i'm still getting the 0496 code. the solenoid is not the issue it seems. Any ideas?
Ones you cleared the code p0455 the EVAP system monitor reset and it take some time for the monitor to complete, code p0496 was not present before this means an issue either in the purge installation or the new purge solenoid keep in miand that code p0455 may return, I do not know what car you have.
The new solenoid went bad if you can test the new solenoid with a hand held vacuum pump on the engine side it should hold vacuum if not then the solenoid bad.

@@chaconjohnson Did you install The purge correctly not backward and dose the car runs rough after refueling.

@@thecarfixchannel3046 thanks for taking the time to respond. i have a Chevy equinox 2011 3.0 v6 LT.
Great video,what's the repair ticket
I replaced this on my wife’s terrain about a month ago and now getting the same code. Could there be a vacuum leak going to the solenoid?
The new solenoid went bad if you can test the new solenoid with a hand held vacuum pump on the engine side it should hold vacuum if not then the solenoid bad.
What's the code to a faulty gas cap
P0457 loose gas cap.
That's not a 2015 gmc terrain
Excellent common sense explanation, well done.
Very helpful
I do like the video
Thanks for your help
