Had mine nearly two weeks, and this bike is awesome, especially considering the price. I would say definitely more on the sporty side than touring, yet with comfort. And contrary to some early reviews with regards the brakes, they are absolutely fine, Yes there are better brakes on top end, expensive bikes, but the brakes suit and work really well with the GT. If i had to crib the bike it would be the fact it has a cable clutch, but given i only use that for setting off, its not the end of the world. The quick shifter and blipper is the slickest i have ever had. I wont even be changing the can/exhaust, the induction sounds awesome when you open it up. Ordered mine early last October and picked it up a week last Friday, well worth the wait!

@@carterjoseph1475 I'm in North Yorkshire and ordered it from York Suzuki Centre, who kept me fully updated on delivery as and when Suzuki UK informed them of release date, frame no and delivery date. During the first 120 miles i did consider fitting EBC pads, but this was just the bedding in of the OME ones, and after about 150 miles they are faultless. It does make you wonder about some of these reviewers, i think it was the reviewer from MCN back in October that commented on the brakes and tyres first, that in his opinion could benefit from a upgrade, then it seemed every other reviewer over the next week or so made the same comment, obviously most of them were on the same launch week up in Scotland. Hence why channels on RUclips like Kates are so popular and usually give a more accurate review, they keep it real and no manufacture outside influences, like getting invited to launch dates abroad and been on their press release list. With regards the Dunlop tyres, I'm no fan of Dunlop Tyres and usually put Michelin Pilots on my bikes, but once again i cant fault the Dunlops up to now, and i ride more on the sporty side than touring. And yes, when i need new tyres i will no doubt put Michelin road 6's on. The TFT screen is excellent, but room for improvement on the My Spin App if i had to be critical or maybe my Iphone 13 pro and apple updates are the problem with regards connectivity and the satnav, which it does do, just not very well, but not a issue or big deal for me. All i can say is i have bought far more expensive bikes over the years, with a lot more things for me to whinge and whine about. And does the perfect bike actually exist? The Suzuki GXR S1000 GT comes pretty close and for the price is unbelievable! You wont be disappointed.
@HahrtDood I am 5ft 11in and prefer the GT's riding position, and yes slightly more straight than the SX, my knees are probably just slightly bent a little more on the GT, but not a lot in it really. I so prefer a real set of handlebars on the GT rather than the Clip on SX ones, but that is just a personal taste.
@@3kdn Well done mate. Refreshing change to see a sensible comment on the brakes and tyres. Many of the biking journo's (MCN included) are often way to critical on the tiniest things, especially on press launch bikes that haven't been bedded in properly. Kate's review however, was spot on.
Had mine 2 weeks and like you, first thing I was going to do was throw some EBC pads in due to prior reviews. No need, the stock are absolutely fine. Coming from my Gixxer 1000R, the back brake is excellent compared to that, you can actually use it for stopping. 😂

I bought a black one last year and am really falling in love with it.I wish the red had been available as I think it looks superb, the finish is so deep it looks like it's been dipped !! Superb bike in every way, I did prefer the SX when I rode them back to back but the more I ride the GT the more I'm glad I bought it.
Got my GT a little over 3 weeks ago.
1st service is done.
While mine was in for the service I took a demo kawasaki 1000sx out for ride.
In my opinion the kawasaki isn't a bad bike but I prefer the Suzuki by far.

Hi Kate, Good review have had my Gt six month's now and absolutely love it.. it's the 19th bike I've ever owned and its the best bike I've ever ridden.. I've tweaked it by taking an inch off the saddle, added a Puige touring screen Oxford grips, Oxford wind deflectors and stiffened the rebound damping.. Perfect fit now 🙂

I test road the GT a great bike. I also test road the Kawasaki z1000sx but I liked the Suzuki better so I have ordered one.
Suzukis have always had a great gearbox, recently rode a '71 T250 Hustler and yep, the box was fantastic, almost like a quick shifter.

Great review. Looks like a cracking bike. I agree with you on the ridiculously high price of the Suzuki heated grips. Lack of top box wouldn’t bother me as I hate the look of them and the thought of adding extra weight that high up affecting the handling troubles me. Top tip with the cruise control, you don’t need to hit the button on the right hand controls or brake to switch it off, just roll the throttle forward and that smoothly deactivates it.
Yea I have trust issues... I like it to be off off haha
I've got one at the mo and rolling the throttle does work like that, but it's like hitting the brakes, not smooth at all.

Love your videos Kate. Noticed you were in ride mode A which is the most aggresive. Mode B seems to be the concensus for everyday riding and C for rain. The fact you say its that smooth in Mode A really speaks to how smooth it really is. Well done, cheers. I'm in Canada and waiting for my Triton blue.
Yea, super smooth to ride in A mode. Honestly, it is an absolutely amazing bike.
Those accessory prices are crazy. IIRC the tourer pack on my Ninja 1000sx was approx £1000 and included panniers, heated grips and a larger screen.
Yeh but its worth it - its a Suzuki. A real riders machine. I had the Kawasaki but is no comparison in looks, ride and how it feels 👍

Love the look of the bike, the colour really works well on it. As for the accessories, the lack of top box and excessively expensive heated grips doesn't make sense.
Fantastic Looking bike, but with there accessory prices are meh!, and anything with the word touring should have the basics such as cruise control (which i know this has), but heated grips, and the luggage does boil my wicket, any great vid kate!

In Norway the heating handle grips comes to a wopping £600 + fitting... 😬😳
About the OEM paniers the price isn't to bad. In Norway it comes in about the same price as UK. If compare to GIVI it mate be more expensive because you will need a rack to mount the paniers to. After all Suzuki's paniers are 36 liters each and a fullface helmet will fit in to it.
I have send a question to GIVI if they will come with a topbox plate and topbox to the new GT, but at the moment they haven't, but will.
I have now got my GT and run it for about 800 miles and it doesn't disappoint. I'm 6,35 ft and the riding position is quit good, spite a narrow knee angle. The windscreen is also perfect. The wind flow hit me in the chest. The engine is strong even at low revs and without any hick ups. It turns very well at twisty roads.
Lovely look’n bike and a great revue Kate. If a bike is being pegged as a tourer, sports or otherwise it should have a full set of luggage ie Top box and panniers.

I've just come from the Ninja 1000sx over to the GT. Can't fault it, beautiful bike. It's much more of a riders bike. mine's in the candy red so you can definitely see me coming. Good video!

Had mine a month now but its spent the last 9 days in Youles Motorcycles Blackburn as the crank angle sensor is faulty and the Fi light has been on since day one causing the light, stalling and poor starting !! Glad others are enjoying their bikes it certainly looks well and goes great to.

Any chance of you reviewing the ninja 1000sx? Obviously a great comparison. The things that make me lean towards the ninja is:
- More comfortable/padded seat.
- Years of refining it.
- Light clutch which I think is not reported on enough. It really makes life much easier in traffic.
- More torque down lower.
- Adjustable windscreen.
- Gear box has better ratio.
- more upright.
- all together just has a better touring package.
- better computer that helps you in the turns. ABS and traction control.
The things I like about Suzi
- more playful engine. Especially high in the revs it almost feels like a turbo.
- more sound. More dramatic under acceleration.
- much prefer the bars, especially for mounting things.
- larger display.
- more modern look (which I don’t actually like so much)
Anyway I hope you are able to review the competition also as you really seemed to like this style of bike. Which always makes for better content for the reviewer and consumer.
I had a test ride on this recently. I agree with all your points, it's amazing. I have one on order. Got the Oxford grips also. The dealer said everyone who has had a test ride has bought one.

Hi Kate, I’m from Southern Utah, USA. I got mine six months ago and love it more every time I ride it. I sometimes wish I was also 5’4” so the screen would block my head better. I actually like the wind on local rides but I do have the touring screen for highway rides. Thanks so much for the video, very enjoyable.
I was very interested in this bike as soon as it came out, the overall shape and style of the machine etc. you have done a great review there Kate very informative indeed, oh by the way I bought an absolutely pristine one owner zzr1200 with 17000 miles on the clock with all the extras needed for touring for £2800 but who knows in the future I might upgrade when the price of a second hand Suzuki comes down.

Excellent review Kate, thks for this. I do like this bike but no topbox, handguards and heated grips is a big miss by suzuki. I appreciate that the bike is low cost compared to some and after market guards/grips will be avialable. I told my szuki dealer last year that I had no interest in side cases but a top box was necesary for me for longer journeys. I really want a bike with better suspension this time around too. I'm forced to look elsewhere which is a shame because the engine and looks are spot on.

Good review Kate. Nice looking bike but looks more like a sports bike with expensive panniers. I surmise it doesn't have a top box because it's not been designed for one and thus would create weave and instability issues especially with it having such a short screen. Please review a NT1100 and compare it against that. Both aimed at roughly the same market but totally different bikes. But good to here to your honest opinion.

I must admit when suzi brought this bike out it made me pause, 🤔 as i was all set on buying a bmw s1000xr, i did not get to ride one, and yes still went for the s_thou, no regrets.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw the price of the OEM heated grips. Was going to go for the Oxford ones, but my dealer had a set of Daytona heated grips that don’t have the separate controller, just a button on the left grip like the OEM ones, so went for them and fitted myself. £120 rrp (paid less than that though tbh) Work great.
Columbus, Ohio, USA is 80 Fahrenheit finally. Got so sun burned yesterday, rain and cold for the next 2 weeks. Ok gotta ride.

Great review Kate, especially in that weather, I would have probably gone home !! Im going to get one of these bikes, just looked at Oxford Heated Touring Grips £49 , ive fitted these on the last four bikes I have owned with no problems at all. Always prefer the soft panniers, but would definitely get the bigger screen, Cheers ✌

First world complaints... jk I do prefer symmetry but as long as the light is strong at night, I don't mind in the end.
It's proven to be safer. If you run two lights you will be mistaken for a distant car and your chance of a head on collision at night is significantly increased.
I’ve decided the Suzuki katana is better looking for the single retro style light. Shame it’s not overall the bike I’m looking for:
Cruise control
Slipper clutch
Traction control
Larger tank
Blipped/quick shift
Sports tourer etc

I know the Tracer 9 GT is a different bike and may not be as comfy or stable, but at least it’s equipped with hand guards, an adjustable screen, panniers AND heated grips, for less money.
For Suzuki to go ahead with these decisions is a bit disappointing, tbh.
It's not less money in the US., more than $1000, even after a couple of factory accessories, including grips and a touring screen. Better handling, faster, smoother. But, not that much difference. I think - specially for sport tourer - it's how the rider physically fits on it. Doesn't matter how well it does what it does if you're in pain after 30 minutes. I'm looking at this, the SX, NT, and 9GT. I don't think any would disappoint!

Like many other commenters on other forums, the panniers didn't arrive with the bike and there is no target for delivery. Hopefully before my big SEP/OCT tour.
I'm in the minority of being perfectly happy without a topbox. I have always thought it raised the weight up too high and affects handling, especially in the twisties.
I use the Kriega bag system and it looks like I can haul 40L of extra carry over the pillion seat and panniers without any trouble.
The only thing I would have liked to hear about was the MySpin app.
The TFT looks awesome and I will have to see if I can viz my navigation app(s) on the screen or do they have to stay on my phone.
Other reviewers have also said the tyres were crap in the rain but you didn't seem to have any issues. That's good to know as the wet rides give me anxiety.

Regarding the MySpin app, I did download it but it's not super intuitive and I couldn't get the maps to show on the screen. Maybe if I'd had longer with it and actually read the manual, I could have mastered it. But let me know how you get on with it please! 😁

I really cant bring myself to like that front end but other than that it looks a good bike. Having said that for a tourer having no heated grips, no top box and non adjustable screen seems a bit of an oversight.
A sporty bottom half and a pleasant top half really does sound like the best of both worlds! 😂 take my money suzuki and roll on some enjoyable wknd rides!
Has a 2018 gsxs1000, put 400 miles on it the first weekend ...traded for a Yamaha stryker, put 400 miles on it in 2 years. Last time I do a trade in for the sake of 2 up riding. Literally never had the ol lady on the back because I just don't like the ergo and don't ride it. Mean muscle bike though.
Been waiting for the chance to trade back in for one of these in black. I dig the minimal mounting system for the panniers too, doesn't cramp your style if you wanna take them off.

Just looked up pannier’s on motorad bmw r1250 both panniers with locks 591 pounds for both converted from krona.Agreed the Suzuki panniers seem excessively priced unless they are filled with single malt whiskey in both🏍🇸🇪😂👍🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃

£1k for plastic boxes is criminal. Regarding topboxes I've read that they make the bike unstable at high speed and the manufacturer doesn't want the kick back of the reputation damaging reports of the instability issues, hence the removal of the overpriced plastic topbox. Call me cynical but....
Superduke GT comes with OEM (Shad) top case and pannier options. They work just fine together up to 140 incl. passenger.
So yeah, it's a stupid decision, but Kawasaki with the SX have an option, top case or panniers, they will not supply a rack for both, which was equally as annoying.
A grand is over the top I'd agree but people are paying similarly silly money for fancy GS boxes.
Lets be honest it’s a SPORTS TOURER so why would you want to raise its centre of gravity buy putting a top box high in the air

Nice bike but sx still better and more refined. Suzuki has to get rid of that dumb one headlight system., change the front brake pad and substandard tyres. Will be better hopefully in second edition.

I have ridden both and for me the Suzuki is better for me.
The kawasaki is not a bad bike but I do prefer the Suzuki.
Got mine 3 weeks ago and I am over the moon with it
I don't have one those as I bought a GSX-S1000F a couple of months back. I couldn't wait for them to land here in Oz. So far I have nothing to fault on the 1000F. Everything works as it should, it's a good twisty scrapper, its comfortable. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it sounds and looks great and it was lot cheaper than he price of the GT. Maybe I'll trade the Harley in on a GT🤣🤣

Just returned from a 90 min ride in very similar conditions on similar roads in NSW on my 17 S1000R. The fairing you had on the GT would have been very nice…

Have had mine for 3 months and done 2000 kms so far. Overall very happy, but suspension is too hard for my 70kg weight. Going to fit a better Nitron shock at the rear and revolve the front forks to improve the compliance on our rough roads. Seat is a bit hard too, but am going to wait till the suspension is sorted before I decide if the seat needs work. Coming from a Corbin on a BMW K1200RS.

Both the GT and Kwak SX don’t have a top box and that’s a bloody shame!
Sports tourer is two panniers and the complete luggage set up is for adventure and tourers’ bikes. Which seems to be the manufacturer’s mentality 😏. So if Triumph came back with an updated Sprint GT with full luggage, they would make an absolute killing 🤔

I have a Honda VFR800X Crossrunner but would be tempted to buy this one... But it's an unreasonable choice, my motorcycle is perfectly fine :D

Another informative good bike review Kate really enjoyed it. quick question Kate your helmet I'm thinking is the shoei x spirit 3 which I have myself and I just wondered have you tried the photochromic transition visor on it ? Reason I ask is I'm considering one myself but they are very expensive and would like an opinion on are they any good from someone I no would give an honest opinion.

Nice one Kate, i think the Panniers fall within the width of the wing mirrors. Filtering shouldn't be an issue if your front goes through the back has to follow. If you were wearing a father christmas outfit with rudolf on the front they would still miss you. Aesthetics of a bike are a big part of the buying decision.. a rider has to be pleased with the way the bike looks. To create a full video with very little showing the bike is perplexing.

Kawasaki at one point on the SX 1000, you could have a top box with out panniers but not both on the earlier bikes. Apparently, bike was unstable at higher speeds, may be the same on the Suzuki,

Got to give it to you but I guess as a full time job you need ride on a rainy day when a nice heated car would be my mode of transportation, I hated riding in rain.
