Not really. All you have is Brendan's version of events and he's clearly unhinged. Everything in the world is out to get him, apparently. He also threatened the guy personally. I'd trust Watchfinder's version of the story over Borderline Brendan.
Thanks for the warning Brendan No wonder Andrew left them. When you have in-house Watchmakers who are drawing a wage out of the business there must be a temptation to artificially keep them busy and offset the wage bill by doing things like this. You should spend a couple of quid with RUclips and promote this video to get as many views on to as possible.
I had exactly the same issue here in Hong Kong just recently. My watch was barely if ever worn and I was extremely surprised when they said it was scratched and I only accepted their revised offer simply because I was unable to sell my watch elsewhere, and even with the reduced offer it was still more than I was prepared to let it go for. The photos they sent me of the scratches they said were there are simply not consistent with any normal wear and tear, especially some on the caseback! It hadn’t occurred to me that this was deliberately done but now that makes absolute sense.

After you provided irrefutable evidence that they damaged your watch on purpose watch, they should polish your watch for free and apologize for what they did. That was the only honorable thing to do.
I don’t know how expensive it is the Judiciary system in UK, but you have evidence to file a lawsuit against them. They were liable for maintaining the integrity of the product.
These guys are dishonest.

Bren....I told you in comments previously. For a Master Chronometer Seamaster 300m (fully boxed and docs) and just over 2 years old..they offered me £2150. They are known for low ball offers and I would never buy from them again. I have bought 1 watch only (Seamaster Peter Blake) from them previously and I only wonder what they paid the seller!
Everyone says buy the seller, not the watch. Well guess who just crashed their reputation.

Having been ripped off myself by a number of big companies, I completely understand your anger and frustration at the way you’ve been treated by Watchfinder. What I’m not sure about (possibly because the sound was turned down in favour of your taped conversation with the Watchfinder guy) is the reason you kept packing and then unpacking and then trying on and then repacking the watch again for what felt like ages. Surely it would’ve been better (and less potentially damaging to the watch’s finish) to simply pack it up once and just close the lid on it? Like I said, the sound was off, so I didn’t hear any possible reason for what you were doing, and I’m absolutely not saying that you damaged the watch. Just an observation. I really hope you get some resolution on this. I know how much this kind of thing can affect a person’s mood and mental well-being.
Well done Brendan you have our backing, you’ve done nothing wrong and have all the evidence.

i believe they mishandled your watch. thanks for sharing. although they gave you a mint and their polishing tax was reasonable I think they knew they gave you too much and sent you photos of a different watch to minimize their mistake.

I was in their store yesterday and came close to spending a good wedge of money. I was still thinking about it until last night. Im gonna give them a miss and look elsewhere. Not a way to do business.
Times must be hard for used watch sellers at present. That said it’s a great time to pick up a used bargain. Just seen a mint Omega Speedmaster Racing with back and orange dial now reduced by £2,600 from the original used price. Bargain! However the scalping from the grey dealers can be expected as they scrimp and scrape to keep going now the gold rush is over.
I will never buy another watch from Watchfinder again. I bought a Zenith El Primero for my 40th and when it had issues I sent it back as it was under warranty with them and should have been under manufacturer warranty also. I said I wanted it sent back to Zenith and they completely ignored me and serviced it themselves. I asked for paperwork so I could see proof of what work had been carried out and they ignored that also. Turns out they had already nullified the Zenith warranty as they had opened the caseback before I bought it which was def not made clear to me, when I complained they said that it was my fault for not asking. It was 8 months old when I bought it so why wouldn’t I assume it was still under manufacture warranty?
I know a few people who have sold watches to them and all have be charged this "servicing" fee...maybe all of them needed a service...but to me, and in my opinion, its sounds more like a cash grab - a seller tax.

Utterly disgraceful tactic to obtain a further £150. Thanks for the warning. I was about to sell two Rolexes to Watchfinder but have now blacklisted them. I will go elsewhere and warn others about Watchfinder. Sorry you've had this experience, I wholeheartedly believe you sent the watch off scratch-free.
I see they are based in Kent. I have had very inept and sometimes dishonest experiences with many service companies based in this county during the last 5 years. Just sharing that.

i didnt realise you bought the same watch from them only 4 months ago, check if you can find the advertisement for when you bought it, i bet it says been serviced
They're very shady. You don't save much either, which was the entire point of buying used in the first place. I go right to the manufacturer, which a lot of people give me hell for but after my experiences with used dealers, its just much easier, better service, peace of mind.
All this over 150 bucks. I had a cousin ask me to buy him a watch for his son. It was brand new. My cousin let his son wear that watch to church before he had it sized. He called me the next day and told me the watch was scratched when I gave it to him. It’s amazing what people will say after they scratch a watch. I’m not saying that’s what you did but it’s a hard thing to prove for a dealer in these situations. Never buy watches again for family.

Man that really sucks... I really liked their older videos but just because of the narrator. After all it's a huge company I assume. Can't blame the guy that makes the videos because the actual watchmaker sucks. Anyways, sorry for your situation. Really hard to trust any company now, there's only a few that really take care and respect the owner's watch like WristWatchRevival (Marshall) but then again they're small guys and we can't just all get our watches serviced by one guy

Good lesson to be learned here about taking good and recent pics or videos of anything you're about to turn over. They are your only defense in a case like this.

I've recently began my obsession as a watch collector. And i must say- out of all the luxury brands I've been researching, for me the MaMaCoo 's watches are the most intriguing.
Maybe UK and US operate differently, or unique issue to the salesperson? I've had nothing but a great experience with WF.
