Akademiks somewhere rubbing his ashy ass hands starting fires
Elijah Stiles lmao, people still watch that clown
@@MidasCrisis yeah lmao bc he knows soooooooo much about hip hop despite not doing anything hip hop related
Elijah Stiles he’s just lame to me dog, I remember watching him daily back in the day, now I stopped watching him because of his cornball ways, Everyday Struggle really showed how pathetic he became
@@MidasCrisis he shouldn't be on the show. He doesn't know a damn thing about hip hop culture. Being friends with a couple of rappers doesn't mean you know about the game.
Elijah Stiles I wouldn’t care whether or not he’s on the show because I don’t watch that bullshit, ever since Joe left, I haven’t cared to watch it, they had something unique there, but Complex fucked Joe over and he’s got his own show now, I’m happy for him, plus I watch his podcast
Can we please add my man's chair to the circle. Not leave him in the background

Vic Mensa Spits an incredible verse calling out ALL LIVING KNOWN RAPPERS WHO ABUSE WOMEN
and tells them they shoulda been like Hov in the Elevator..
Oh yeaaaaah this comment section is gonna be just amazing
man i was about to say this nigga Ken wear that Black Panther shirt everyday until I realized this video was probably recorded the same day as the one about Drake/Pusha they released yesterday.

Kon is dope, great to have him on conversations
Khoi Kidd nah, he deff doesn’t add to the show
I think he's like 17
Theirs so many levels of hypocrisy with Vic not only is he an abuser he’s talking on the dead which is exactly what he went wild on akademiks about and I don’t even like ak lmfao he’s an L rn
but he talked shit about XXX while he was alive. Vic is a reformed ex abuser and he never spoke about what he did as a positive, he speaks about it in a place of regret (not that that is enough) but still its not hypocritical because its not an accurate equivalency to what XXX was doing
LadyiSh09 So what did Vic gain from talking about a dead rapper?
he went on ak for profiting and *clowning* the deaths of a shitload of people.
i dont give a fuck about vic mensa or his music but come correct, dude.

Damn wish you guys waited to make a video on this cause now an XXXTENTACION taped leaked where he admitted to not only beating the chick, but stabbing 9 people
MrGNugget Yeah, crazy timing.
i'm sure that there will be a pt 2
My thing is XXX was young and didn't get the opportunity to grow and realize the error of his ways. It seemed like he was before he died having sort of this epiphany and trying to do more positive things for himself and his fans. People act like they didn't do stupid shit when they were young...the only difference with XXX is that his life was televised because of fame.
And no, I do not condone domestic abuse. My mom was a victim of it. And no, I am not an XXX fan although I like some of his music but people who don't know the whole story are quick point the finger. At this point, does it even matter? Let the man RIP.
@@ween.7563 yeah, that audio leaking changes nothing your right. I just think it would have made for good talking points in this video.
Blacktop_Shady I don’t think beating up ur gf and stabbing 9 people could be classified as doing “stupid shit”
BET still exist?
Not really
Yes, it does
Vic Mensa had plenty of men, alive and in the game, to put on blast - as Myke and Feefo pointed out, it might've been even more powerful had he used his own situation as a means of expanding the dialogue surrounding hip-hop and domestic abuse. Instead, all he really did with this stunt was give more attention to a (self-confessed) abuser and rile up his fan base unnecessarily, while denying any growth on behalf of the wider culture. And that is frustrating as hell!
Loving the slate of discussions y'all been putting out - keep on keepin' on! Get to 250k! It's gonna be there sooner than y'all know!
B.E.T. Definitely has to take partial blame.
Still waiting for X's response smh
Lmao
Crazy how Vic took an L against a dead man
That's gonna take awhile

Love it boys keep it up! Great classic convo!
Thak you for all the content you guys are posting!
aye I respect that you guys have jobs and put up videos keep up the great work and thinks for trying to make this community better.
I don’t think what Vic Mensa said was that bad. However, if his intention really was to call out domestic abusers and the culture within hip-hop that excuses and enables them, then I think he failed. The way in which Mensa delivered this message made it so the focus of the resulting conversation is being placed on himself and Xxxtentacion - not on the wider culture, which was his stated intention. I don’t think Vic Mensa is cynical enough to have done all of this for clout, but I feel he should have thought some more about how he wanted to deliver this statement.
Myke hit the nail on the head. The reason why he's huge is because we connected with him. Not because he was super deep our thoughtful but he had a sincere blunt and honest emotions that people who felt the same way connected to. With new info with X admitting to it, I'm not surprised or defending it. I've always said that I believed he did it, but I don't believe all the extra shit. I believed he lost it and beat the fuck out of her, but she obviously wasn't pregnant and I don't believe the BBQ fork shit or the water boarding shit or what not, but who knows? X had done plenty of shitty an violent things out side of that. But he did change and he did start to become or try to become what Myke said that Vic should become with out admitting to it since he was battling jail time. That's what makes his death sad because it seemed like he learned. But it also seemed like his death was all of his fucked up shit coming back to get him if I ever believed in karma.
Honestly, the biggest problem I have with Vic doing this aside from what everybody else said is that nobody looked up to him for his abuse. People liked him for his music and because he spoke to troubled people. I get annoyed with this whole idea that just because I'm a fan of somebody means I'm going to do or emulate or accept everything they do. I'm a fan of Vic. I'm not going to cancel him for his past. I'm also not going to condone it either. I expect better from him rather than this arrogant, fake and vapid virtue signaling to try and create the appearance of superiority. Hip hop has a problem with abuse and misogyny that does need to be addressed though. I think a bigger step is to realize that it has an even bigger problem with mental health because healthy brains don't abuse.
DEHH Got It Right.
1: The dead man got whatever he was supposed to receive.
2: Don't put another man on the cross for your sins. Put yourself on one, then it's real.

Before watching: I know this video won't be up to date. I still appreciate the content.
instrumental go hard in the beginning
As a X fan I feel like he was a troubled person haunted by some demons. I liked his music because he spoke about shit I like dark depressing shit. He needed to learn how to create write a full 3 minute song. His personal life had nothing to do with me.
Dwayne Pierce II exactly
Great convo
I like what vic was trying to go for, but he isn't the dude to talk about it cuz of what he did in the past. If it was another artist who hadn't had these types of allegations thrown at them, i would be supporting them 110%
If X was alive I would support it.
DEHH is where it's at🔥🔥🔥🔥

Watching now
XXX admitted to it on tape. It's a shame it didn't come out when he was alive we did not have it to base our opinions on XXX. What was clear however, was that XXXtentacion was changing his life around before he died.
Vic Mensa also admitted to abusing one of his exes; there are plenty of rappers with such allegations that are alive. However, Xxx's taped confession somewhat vindicates him.
Fire! 🔥🔥🔥
Vic got the right to say what he wants. And really he told no lies. I just wish he didn't wait til the young man passed to speak out. Now he gotta deal with the backlash
Well I know this is old, but I always look at it as right message wrong person saying the message , cause he’s definitely a hypocrite knowing he’s was a abuser his self, that’s why now he career is pretty much dead if not, Is.
I had to chuckle a little when I saw mykes face at 16:08
He stays having that face whenever Rod says something completely off the mark 🤣🤣🤣
@@MrBEARBLAST mmm exactly😂
Vic didn't go at "living" rappers because he was upset that XXXTENTACION was being praised after death. 💯
It shows Vic Mensa's jealousy because his career isn't where it should be. If his career was flourishing, he wouldn't have said shit! 💯
his career is definitely where it should be tf u talkin bout? lol
@@theiggod6921 underground artists don't need "hits." This is dead end hip hop, not dead end mainstream rap. Go back to the Breakfast Club.
In the Woods You right, you don't need hits but you need to sell a certain amount of records. Especially for a NEW artist. Vic knows his career isn't where it should be, he's expressed discontent about the reception of his music. He's being pushed by Roc Nation and had a song with Kanye..... Vic is falling and it won't get any better! 💯
P.S. Vic was on his high horse after his song with Kanye! He became extremely cocky!
BET definitely deserved some blame. It was clear as hell that they were trying to hype up the show. Why else would his verse leak before the show even aired.
Until he absolutely can't, Rod will always try to see the best in everyone all the time. Sometimes people are cynical, conniving sharks, Rod.
Did they ever do te mac miller swimming review ???
Just wanted to shout out Myke for the Evil Dead shirt
X is one of my favorite artist of the 2010s.
His music and troubled past resonate heavy with me. I’m pleased when I see clips of him promoting nothing but positive vibes to his fans and strangers.
With that said, defending other beings is awkward. Are we not defined by our past experiences? Or do we work to create that definition on a daily basis? Is what needs to be answered.
As a fan, I usually feel as if I know for a fact that the narrative that his fans defend his past is false. I’ve seen and attempt to assess the discussions. I know most people see the loudest voices as speaking for the whole but that’s just not true from what I gathered.
At what point do we separate art from artist? Or is that even possible?
People who don’t listen to X say some pretty grotesque things about those that do but their perspective matters just as much.
I dunno. I’m just typing hoping for discussion.
I think XXX did it and the audio of him admitting it released today, but all the trauma and pain that XXX's mother went through because of this situation is on BET. They knew XXX's mother would be in the audience and decided to air the Vic's verse anyway in order to bring more eyes onto their award show. If they felt Vic's versed crossed a line they could have cut it from the show.
I don't know why I laughed when Myke said I didn't kill her but cut her arm off
never really put much thought into this until this convo, but Vic 100% had nothing to gain from the diss. it was tasteless and unnecessary. he obviously held resentment towards xxx when he was alive but only chose to send a shot (no pun intended) when xxx aint here to fire back. he’s always had an off putting demeanor to me and this just made it worse.
Can’t wait to see this comment section.
Please review iridescence
Can y'all please review Joell Oritz's new album with Apollo Brown?! It's called "Mona Lisa" and I personally think it's fire!!!
I love that Evil Dead shirt
Myke C-Town has a really nice Evil Dead shirt on.
Logic YSIV I want the DEHH CRITIQUES
I agree with with Myke that BET is largely to blame for airing the verse knowing that they were gonna give X best new artist, and then air the verse in front his mom. Its pretty foul. Good Convo guys
I’m glad people are talking about this him being dead doesn’t change what he did and it’s going to affect his we respond to this type of thing next time while the person is still living I think
Weird how the previous convo talked about how there’s no rules in hip hop beef but now there’s rules here?
poetryjesus Theres rules to milking dead artist ... yes
Frapucheno What rules?
Upful Soul like idk maybe “ weak ass writers with dying careers that never made it can’t clout chase to pretend like they aren’t abusive “
Just because there's no rules doesn't mean you're immune to criticism when you do wack shit. There's nothing weird about it.
Feefo getting more mature by the day.
Much love to you all.
Can't wait to see the follow up with the recent tapes being released to the public. What I kinda took away from his (xxxtentacion) popularity was that he was the teens' savior sorta like Tyler the Creator in 2011. I agree with y'all that BET is in the wrong and should be catching more heat. Vic was definitely chasing attention cause there were so many ways to go about what he did even with his own history. Wonder what you guys think with the released tape out or if your opinions stay the same.
I just think of it like this. What he did was wrong and there’s no excuse for it. I’m not hating on people still going on about him that’s fine I understand. I acknowledge his terrible past actions. I just feel like we’re not going anywhere with this conversation because X is dead. Hes dead what else do you want us to do? He’s paid the price for his past. There’s nothing else. Now can we talk about abusers who are still alive and can actually have an effect on? Vic Mensa made a cypher about a dead man. Why didn’t he speak on people who are alive in hip hop and are abusers. X is dead. Now move on to the next rapper. Including yourself, Vic Mensa.
The victims deserved to have th e tape released. Xs fans made Genevas life a living hell because there was "no proof". The discussion doesn't go very far, true, but fans and everyone in the industry LOVED this guy and I think it's important that they see him for what he really was and that they supported him.
I agree that there are others who deserve to be called out and people should stop obsessing over bashing him
V Tang yea I agree. That whole harassing victims shit ain’t cool. And I do agree that X should be talked about to an extent because there’s nothing else to do. He dead.
not so alleged anymore!
Vic Mensa has talked about his own situation on multiple occasions, years ago...fyi
No, TV networks do not have to air what they don't want to. Yes, artist get a contract to be on the show, but the network can still cut it. It's like a multi-movie contract. Marvel signs you for 4 films. They can kill your character off in the 2nd movie. You have no voice in the matter.
Aye can we leave the ads to play out? just for the sake of DEHH?
Im really happy mike gets why some of us like x
Vic Mensa was wrong but I’m tired of people overhyping X. X was fake deep. He could say something that is either really obvious or just doesn’t make any sense and people will say “he’s a genius that you can’t understand”. Just like people do with Kanye. It’s always the dumb people claiming to be able to recognize intelligence in others.
Ether well Kanye is actually a talented producer and song maker, and the cause of most modern hip hop trends so i think it’s safe to say he is a genius
I would say kanye is a genius producer, but not a rapper by any chance he is above average at his best. But yes x’s shit was as deep as a diary from a heartbroken teenage girl who just lost her virginity and got dumped
Sounds more like modern Kendrick then XXX
nPlatin not my point at all. Most modern hip hop trends wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for Kanye. He has stayed relevant and cutting edge in the mainstream for the past 15 years. Not many artists can claim that. I’m not saying he’s the genius that will cure cancer but to doubt him as a musical genius is seriously just disliking him for being popular. You can not like his music but you can’t deny his impact. Also his last three albums had critical acclaim so you may not like them but that doesn’t mean their trash... also Kanye isn’t close to my favorite artist why you assuming shit bro?
stricek zeljko couldn’t agree more, Kanye is definitely a better producer and song writer than rapper
Y'all gon review Atmospheres new record?
It ain’t “allegedly” no more
Don’t have much good to say about X. Really disappointed in Vic though. He wanted to create this perception of being this activist but then when gun violence occurred, he switched to domestic abuse. I really liked him but I can’t take him seriously anymore. Don’t Troy Ave yourself, kids
Rod jumped out the window with that theory. What leverage does Vic Mensa have to obliterate BET to air ANYTHING he does for them? Why would a MULTI BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY sign that specific “clause” with.........VIC MENSA!!! HE NEEDS BET MORE THAN THEY NEED HIM!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ken looking like an old retired superhero
Rod always out here being difficult lol
Vic and BET would be wrong if there weren't still people hard out here defending xxx
He's dead. He already paid the ultimate price. To continue to go after him is cowardly.
Petty Plug: While we don't know if the verdict will change in their opinion, I'm sure they will cover this topic again on Is The Mic Still On. So those trashing them in the comments should realize they recorded this before the leak.
Ah mayne
Has ModestMedia ever made an argument that wasn't circular and frustrating?
No matter what the evidence is/was or what you think about it, I'll leave it like this, this man's life was cut short at 20 before him being able to redeem or explain himself. Vic was in the wrong here, there was no reason to speak on that dead man's head.
Let's keep it real when X was alive she talked s*** about Tupac
Vincent Williams no he didnt he sayed dont bring up pac and my name in the same convo where very different and in his opinion hes better
Opinions dont mean disrespect
Yknow mike basically summed up all my feelings on this
This is one of the few videos where Feefo is making great points.
So, when I first heard about this, I didn't know what Vic Mensa said in his verse, so I defended him because I think we do need to call out this culture of abuser worship. But, after I heard the verse, I was disappointed. I saw it as a half-assed attempt at saying something. Like, he hardly scratched the surface of the issue, he didn't mention any names or come out against anything. If you are going to take a stand, take a stand, don't half do it.
Anyone talking about that bogus audio, pitchfork edited it to 1minute. It's 27min of him actually talking. He did not admit to anything Domislive NEWS POSTED THE ACTUAL VIDEO
Where Dat Brockhampton Review At Tho 😏
I think to this day the only reason we are still talking about XXXTentacion is because of the controversy of what he has done(as of now) but people still grant him the saying "rest in peace" referring to him. Honestly this is more of a personal question than anything Do you forgive him in death for what he has done and was trying to do on this earth? Cuz Vic Mensa clearly doesn't. Nevermore has a celebrities death been so concentrated on cuz of past(at least to me I was born in 94) I think Tentacion was a wild kid and he did some bad things until he got out of his environment and to a point where he could do something good and spread a message.
I like to also say from the jump I had a feeling that he was still guilty but I can forgive tentacion cuz there was nothing else of a moral code he was really trying to live up to
Kon look like a chill version of Akademiks
Just a side comment, Vic has referred to his domestic violence history in his music; in the title track from the "There's A Lot Going On" EP that y'all enjoyed. I'm not trying to defend Vic or argue against him, but he has gone on wax, describing his own experience with the matter.
do good and bad people exist?
yall would wait till theres new information to cover
Damn I was wondering if you guys would ever talk about this situation. Until just recently because of the recording, this topic seems to have died down imo. Before that however it was the talking point for countless weeks.
The main issue with what Vic did in my eyes. This is too conveniently timed he benefitted off people talking about him through this. Vic talking about the issue of domestic violence was so shallow because him bringing light to the issue does nothing for victims. He’s not an advocate making real changes about this, helping for victims pr solving issues he’s just clout chasing. Vic knew this would get attention for his name and it did. People weren’t even talking about him this much when his album dropped. It’s fucked up
I have a new theory:
Vic Mensa rapped that bar about choking his girlfriend on some fake shit. I don’t think he did it at all, but I think he is copping to shit he didn’t do for some sort of demented “Cred”.
This is why he was able to be so judgmental about X. He actually forgot he had a domestic abuse line in one of his songs. Now, he can’t admit that he actually didn’t choke that girl out...as ironic as that is.
Also BET was wrong for airing it. But I been here for 2 decades and some change. I know how this kinda thing goes, they gotta get their own viewership and rating out of it too plain and simple. In every BET Hip-Hop Awards show there's always been that one "big moment" during the show or after that occurred that gets everybody talking. That Vic Mensa line was this year's "big moment" to get everybody talking.
Can we get that new brockhamptom review though?
Still can't name a single Vic Mensa song
AlexLong1000 Then you’re missing out.
You should get hip then
Braven Carlsen nah we’re good...
innanetape is great tho
Shade Of Blue is amazing check that song out don't let this X situation overshadow the fact he is a great lyricist. He dissed X but Vic still a great artist in spite of it.
I understand Myke's point on instead of blaming other abusers, coming out AS one, but if Vic was going to be a winner of an award, that would be an awkward situation that could have cost him his win. It's an awkward situation all around., but there is still time for people to approach that stance.
