  • Video of my hike in Malibu Creek State Park and my visit to the MASH set used for both the 1970 Robert Altman film and the CBS television series which ran from 1972-1983. My visit was on October 21, 2018 about 3 1/2 weeks before the fires which swept through the Malibu area. Sadly, the MASH set has been consumed by fire again. When the park is open again I will go back and do a follow up video.

    Is the site ADA compliant?
    I don't think so . It's almost like they don't want visitors.

One thing I've always wondered about. If the site is only accessible from a hiking trail, how on earth did they get the camp set up and film there? Was there not a road in?

I will be staying in LA for a few days in 2022. Visiting from Australia and I would love to visit this site. Huge MASH fan. Is there pub transport from Hollywood to the Malibu Creek State Park? Or some other way to get there?

Thanks for watching my video! Yes, there are buses you can take from DTLA to near Malibu State Park. However, it’s a three hour ride one way and the nearest it gets you is 1.25 miles (2.012 km) from the park and you have to walk from there. When I hiked to the set, it was a five hour hike round trip from the parking lot. I hope this information helps and that you have a wonderful visit in Southern California!

I would recommend renting a car or hiring an UBER. You’ll get to the park much faster and will be able to spend more time exploring. Best of luck and enjoy!

Rent a car it's not too expensive and you can visit anywhere, I did and drove all over the south West US from Arizona desert Yuma, to Las Vegas to South California

How in the world did they film all those episodes up that little dirt road and turned into a path cut from rock. I don't see how they could ride up and down that for 7 years and not cut in a huge footprint

There’s another access road thru a residential neighborhood that they probably used. I’m planning on doing a video about that in the future. Thanks for watching!
