I have been watching so many videos and searching info online...even trying to get information from my stylist (who is not ethnic) and your video has had the best information. I've been relaxing my hair for so long (30+ yrs) that I wasn't sure what my natural hair texture was. I don't want to do the big chop, have been transitioning since, maybe March when I had a Brazillian Blowout done because my stylist thought it would help me to transition to natural easier. It has been a difficult experience. Mostly because there doesn't seem to be a stylist who specializes in transitioning to natural hair. Everything I've learned so far has come from my daughters (who have both gone natural w/a big chop) and from RUclips videos. This has been the best info so far. Thank you! I will visit your other sites for more info and support.

Hi how are you? I’ve decided to try and go natural again! The last time I went 6 months without a relaxer! My last relaxer was February 26, 2018! Thanks for your tutorials!
A cancer scare brought me here. Results were benign but I’m not taking any more chances. Went natural before and my hair grew like crazy. The downside was, I felt I was having more bad hair days than I would with relaxed hair. So I went back to relaxing because it was more manageable but I am too scared to put those chemicals on my head anymore. So I’m back to natural inspo videos.
No this video is really beautiful and educational to me though..and just listening to you for less than eight minutes really taught me a lot..Thank you😫❤
This is a great video! I transitioned for 14 months before big chopping. I was lucky to not have much breakage at all. Moisture it's definitely a key thing while transitioning. Yes shrinkage is crazy but a sign of healthy hair. Something I was not prepared for with natural hair is ssk. My hair gets so many single strand knots. I just tried my hair and I still have do many. Can you make a video on how to deal with ssk and avoid them?

Love your video. I've been transitioning for a few months and I'm having trouble with tangling hair, I've tried finger detangling and different combs but my hair just breaks off... Please help 😭😭😭
Hi. I just started this process. It's been 2 and a half months since my last relaxer. I just went back to my hairdresser last week because I don't know what I'm doing and I wanted her to wash and deep condition my hair and style. She did do a deep condition under dryer and then used a blow dryer and a brush and comb to dry the hair, then a flat iron to style. I hated the end result. But I figured it's what I had to live with to get through this process. Don't want to do the big chop. What would you advise? Imbwatching a few "how to go natural" videos and I question her method. She seemed to be pushing the big chop to me, tho very gently. I'm thinking that's the only method she may be comfortable with....🤔

I have a Jheri curl in my hair that I want to get rid of but I don’t want to cut my hair off ,do you have any other suggestions for me or is doing the big chop the best way to transition into my natural hair ?
Ummm I used to have really long natural hair (4c I think) and before 5th grade I got a perm. After that things gone down hill, my hair started getting thinner and shorter till 9th grade. I’m a 10th grader and now I don’t know what to do with my hair because I want it to grow and be natural my senior or junior year ;(.
Here are some things to try, using your fingers when detangling and also keeping your hair moisturized. If it is too much, you can cut off the relaxed ends
Well I put my hair in extension braids but I am going to take them off and I wanted to start growing my hair because before I used to be able to a sock bun and now I can't my hair is really soft
Hi i am transitioning from relaxed hair to natural and i don't want to cut my hair ever not even a trim and i use alo Vera gel and coconut oil please is that good for my hair
+Chiterra Palmer Relaxed Hair is Perm Hair. This is hair that has been chemically treated to be straight. Natural hair is hair that has not been chemically altered. This is the hair you are born with. Going to a beauty salon is a personal choice. It is not recommended. My girls and I have not yet been a beauty salon.
Hello! I knew relaxers were bad but i thought they were twmporary because i had it done when i was younger and it went away but now i got it done 3 month ago and my scalp is straight then curly then staright then curly again how can i fix this without a big chop?
I am 12 years old , I used to have natural hair but I relaxed it no I want to change it back but I don't want to cut it cause I don't really like short hair and I have to make hairstyles for school
You don’t have to cut it. Just keep your hair in styles and trim occasionally until all relaxed part is out. That was what I did for myself and my daughter.
An s-curl is applied using relaxers containing lye. Not that after doing it, you will no longer have natural hair. Here is more information about it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-Curl
Good day ma I was on natural some years back but because of the pain and stress I had to relax my hair. +DiscoveringNatural I'm watch it right now , just need to ask you a question how exactly do you start the transition like What do I use what do I do ?. I love your hair by the way ! I'm just really confused right now cause I bearly heard of this transition
All you do is to stop relaxing your hair. You continue taking care of your hair as usual, qith the exception of using a relaxer. On my blog, I posted all the steps I took from the day I started transitioning till now. www.discoveringnatural.com
You can use that for a simple routine. Feel free to join our Facebook group DiscoveringNatural Group for more help. Here is the link bit.ly/DiscoveringNaturalGroup
Transitioning hair is very fragile. When I was transitioning, I used my fingers a lot to Detangle. Make sure you moisturize well. Here are some tips on minimizing breakage ruclips.net/p/PLCT7rEmj0XkyPeRXtAHiBDvGC9PC3RJuM
+Amanda Njoku Hair growth depends on your genes, what you eat, and how you care for your hair. It is said that in perfect world, hair grows an inch a month. You can become natural at any stage after you stop relaxing your hair.
See Mpee When detangling, you can spritz the hair with a mixture of water, extra virgin olive oil and some leave in conditioner. If you are detangling when washing, saturate hair with conditioner.
@@DiscoveringNatural so how does it make sense that you can transition out Chemically Processed Relaxed Hair, but not hair dye? That doesn’t make sense

Thanks, dear!
What is the exact difference between relaxed and natural hair? And if I do decide to go natural, is it highly recommended that I go to a beauty salon?
+Chiterra Palmer Relaxed Hair is Perm Hair. This is hair that has been chemically treated to be straight. Natural hair is hair that has not been chemically altered. This is the hair you are born with. Going to a beauty salon is a personal choice. It is not recommended. My girls and I have not yet been a beauty salon.
This is an excellent video. Very well done.
Thank you so much
Been natural for 11 months now
All I do is single braids
Twists
Short weaves

I am 12 years old , I used to have natural hair but I relaxed it no I want to change it back but I don't want to cut it cause I don't really like short hair and I have to make hairstyles for school
You don’t have to cut it. Just keep your hair in styles and trim occasionally until all relaxed part is out. That was what I did for myself and my daughter.
@@DiscoveringNatural Thank you but while am waiting what am I to use , can I use aloe vera or conditioner to wash it
I’m thinking of getting an s curl on my relaxed longer hair buttt? Should I do it or wait until my hair is all natural?
An s-curl is applied using relaxers containing lye. Not that after doing it, you will no longer have natural hair.

All you do is to stop relaxing your hair. You continue taking care of your hair as usual, qith the exception of using a relaxer. On my blog, I posted all the steps I took from the day I started transitioning till now. www.discoveringnatural.com

About how long does it take for regular growing hair to be natural

can you transition if you don't want to cut off your hair
That is what I did for a year. This video talks all about it
Am currently transitioning but my hair seems to be breaking 😕😕😕😕😕. I NEED HELP
Transitioning hair is very fragile, try minimizing using comb and use your fingers
@@DiscoveringNatural Ok thanks would do as suggested
Love this video! I am transitioning and my hair gets matted and tangled so easily are there any products I could use to help with detangling?
See Mpee When detangling, you can spritz the hair with a mixture of water, extra virgin olive oil and some leave in conditioner. If you are detangling when washing, saturate hair with conditioner.
Thanks so much, will try it!
Thanks. Very good info.

Will the relaxed ends fall off by itself
They do not always.. they could break abs cause split ends to the natural part of the hair. Best to trim them off gradually
