I have been watching this 2002 concert with my dad for the last 20+ years. He passed 7 months ago and I can hear every time we’d sing this song my dad mimicking Bruce saying “let me see those hands”. Beyond blessed we got to see the boss a year ago before dad passed

Max's performance here is mesmerizing. He appears stoic but when he hits those drums, he reveals a deep well of fire and passion and complexity. It's a fascinating thing to watch.
I was there. The atmosphere was amazing - a crazy mix of a football match, a political rally and a religious revival. This song lifted the roof and when all our hands went in the air at the end, it was a transcendent moment. Greatest concert i've ever gone to and will probably ever attend. Bruce and the band were on fire that night. He even greeted us in English, Spanish and Catalan. His was the balm we were all seeking after 9/11 just a year before.
In a thousand years the great man will still be the greatest live act ever seen.

I never comment on youtube ... but here ... I just need to share my story.
My dad died from a lung cancer in last december after a big fight of two years.
My parents live in south of France and me I live in the north part of the country.
I couldn't be as close as I want. But after a call of a doctor who told me "your dad will probably not be a part for Christmas... if you want to share moments it's now".
I took my suitcase, cross the country by train and be with my dad two weeks before he died.
I shared moments with him, close discussion and tell each other things we never told before. We saw some video of Bruce (I remember him and me watch Jungleland (New York City Version) live and he told me "on stage, this man, looks like a child, he's happy to be here, it's a great artist".
I remember to listen Land of hope and dreams during my daily shower because I know it was going to happen and those lyrics, damn "You don't know where you're goin' now, But you know you won't be back" ... and after ... "I will provide for you, And I'll stand by your side, You'll need a good companion, For this part of the ride" gave me chills and give me chills right now.
I always had a sad sentiments in me ... and now I'm in depression.
And theses sentences in The Promised Land song is what I feel now "Sometimes I feel so weak I just want to explode, Explode and tear this whole town apart, Take a knife and cut this pain from my heart".
I was never a big fan of these two songs before, now it's different.
Well, dad, I'll meet you in the land of hopes and dream one day ...
People, give me hope as Bruce does with his music !

My father died too.
The poet and ministry of this man and the E-Street band have saved my soul many times. They tell the truth - he tells the truth - about his depression, his foolishness in his marriage, his desperation, all of it - and he stayed true to a higher path - and he's funny too. And a pain in the ass to Patty - it's like watching any long term relationship - where real love prevails - where the people grow up and move past ridiculous expectations and actually do what they said they would do and do the work of real love - thank God for all these people in a world where so many have just abandoned all the values that make life mean something - beyond the fulfillment of self. Thanx for posting - it's a joy to see them a few years back in this video - and a joy to see them now.

Yeah, my Mom died at 59, so way too young...breast CA Mets got her. My Dad made it to 86, died the week after 9/11...still coherent enough to see & understand that incredible disaster. So now I'm 76. Crippled up some from a concussion, chronic pain, so don't get out much, but a lot of container gardening on my big back deck. Got my son back from S Dakota to help me regain the house. He's 31, sister is 33, a D.O. then from another mare daughters 53 & 50, four grands 2 B & 2 G in college. So, did my procreation, a full active life.. a bitch to be limited now in mobility but wtf can ya do? Tried H for pain but hated it so quit...liver a bit hinky so quit alcohol some time ago. So what's left. Just honk along til some bad thing comes along & then bow out . Life. It's only what it is, I can accept non-existence if that's all there is...I won't know it, and already did that before I was born right? So, Adios All. In advance. It was mostly fun while it lasted.

After months of trying to arrange a visitor visa to the UK for my Cambodian wife, I stumbled over this amazing live performance by the Boss the night before we finally flew. It wrecks me to this day.
I'm torn between this version and the debut version as heard in Live In NYC. I like the addition of People Get Ready at the end, but I also really liked the way it ended initially.
