The change was yet to come here in 1969 as we still had plenty dying in Vietnam and were divided here at home; somewhat like 2020 but different, I’ll just say. My father, a former soldier, is cold and distant like Bruce's father, so i can relate to this song, our song. My father passed away @77 years old in 2002, and my mother outlived him @93 years old
passed away last year 2023. Independence day for us means we are literally orphans, but we moved on, life goes on.. Life is good because God is great. Amen.

From the age of 14 back in 1984 Bruce has been the one constant good in this life of mine , whom I've been through ups and some extreme downs ..my self destructive nature of doing healthy things to such extremes that they became unhealthy as well as outright drug abuse to erase what can't be erased by any chemical.. not exactly sure of how to word it but, Bruce has always only made my life better..when I would allow his music to get through.. to me , he goes far beyond a "Rock legend ".. he is a ROCK !..thank you so much for always being there when I was willing to look ..👊

Beautiful performance, this has become one of my favourite Bruce Springsteen songs. He’s my favourite musician. I remember this moment watching this on the tv at home it still touches me. Thank you mr Springsteen for your beautiful songs. My dad and I were lucky to have seen him live last year in Amsterdam, our dream came true to watch one of our favourite artists live on stage. I’ll never forget that day.
