Thanks for these mate, great memories. I'm a boro fan and we had some great games against Everton in the 80s 90s .hence why Everton became my second team as a kid
Missed the first two goals because of traffic, missed the third getting coffee and a pie, missed the fourth bending down to get my pie but saw the fifth!!!
I actually went to Hillsborough to watch this with a Sheff Weds pal o mine, both of us from Skegness, on the east coast.. (I'm a Toffee, btw).. and I remember after the first two undecided FA cup games, Howard Wilkinson had said 'It'll take a good goal to separate these two sides'.. lol.. Well how about FIVE, Howard???.. Big wind ups all the way home, o'course!!!
Never forget the crush outside before the game loads of fans outside pushed up against the turnstiles scarey at the time bad policing even then kept loads of fans on the motorway into Sheffield missed 4 goals got in right on half time never forget that night and then what happened a few years later that end of the ground should be knocked down never safe God bless the 96.🙏🙏🙏
even at the first match it had been iffy when only that central pen was open. I still have mind that young guy screaming at the police that if they didn't open the other pens there'd be an 'accident'. To start with they told him to shut up...
I'm amazed the Leppings Lane, tunnel and all, is still there all these years later... They just put blue plastic seats over the old terrace.. Probably Wednesday can't afford a new stand being out of the premier league so long
@paul smith I think the police just didn't care but they underestimated the severity of the consequences.. They thought - "oh it's only football fans, they're all drunken hooligans, who cares if they get squashed a bit?" I think the Wednesday only use the Leppings Lane lower now for derby games and against clubs with big followings. Most of the time they only use the upper. There was a game about 10 years ago when a Leeds fan ran out of the Leppings Lane lower and attacked the Wednesday keeper. I think since then they reduced it again
I was there. 06.24 (Leppings Lane away End) celebrating our 3rd goal. Halfway down & middle of screen, right arm in air , royal blue top with white hoop on sleeve. A fantastic night ! Other 3 sides of ground had all but emptied by half time. F*cking hilarious !!!
Strange season for the Blues. As reigning champions, only finished 4th despite at times looking unstoppable. Making unbeaten runs followed by dismal performances. The end of a glorious era!
Remember like yesterday avoided score all night and highlight for me bracewell as he was my hero .. Don't know how many times I've seen heath score like that
Felt a bit sorry for sheff wed in this game, up to this game they'd been really tough and fought for every ball, it was a a true cup tie, replay after replay...and on the night everything went wrong, nigel pearson was played into bad trouble twice the poor bast•rd...then..after this...another marathon tie with boro...an after gettin thru' that...we still lost in the final 😡
4 games vs Weds - 3 vs Boro - that’s enough to win the cup. Awful feeling gong out at home to lpool, but we put them out of the League cup at Anfield……
Was this the last great performance from that great team before Colin decided to shake things up. Know Stevens Reid and heath left that year. Trevor Steven next year
Those were the days. Some great players in that Everton squad.

That's what you call a perfect hat trick! Right, left, head, inside the box, outside the box and a lob all thrown in. Top draw finishing from Sharpy!
I'm in the Leppings. Didn't see any of the goals as eyesight had gone. Bought some glasses following week. Happy days!
what happened 1 year later???
Yes I couldn’t make out who and how players were scoring at the Park Road End during 1984-85 season!
@@martinkulkarni3569 idk. And wtf is that, a stand???
Perfect hatrick, one with the head and one each left and right peg .
I went the first game in this 4 match saga and there were 10,000 everton fans at that one.
Sad thing is, most were delayed on the motorway....an got there at half time...when it was already 0-5 🤣....real downer

After three 1-1 draws, Everton won 5-0. Well, that made a lot of sense.

Messi must have watched Sharp's 2nd.
