Great video, Simple and productive. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!😁👍
Another great tip is, after the password reset to perform the gpupdate/force in CMD. if the user is working from remote, so the password gets synchronized. just make sure that they lock the screen using windows+L and type in the new set password.
Great tip, but make sure they are connected to VPN first.
@@Cobuman that's right, if the affected user is not connected to the network, chanses are that the password reset did not work.
I made it to the second round of interviews, I'm nervous and questioning my ability. This video is awesome ❤
You'll be fine. 😁

thank you, I know this stuff I'm just refreshing my memory and running through exercise before an interview. I had to install AD DS services and create a user before I could practice this. But at least I already had Server installed.
This is amazing the way you went through the Scenario. It will be very cool to different live example.

Hi Cobuman,
How do you password reset bulk users? I need help with this. If you can do a video on this really appreciate it. You doing a fantastic work on these videos.
Interesting question. You can bulk change passwords with a .CSV file with Azure AD but with standard AD there is a tool or powershell. I will add the topic to my to do list. Thanks for the suggestion.
Good morning sir I m from india thanks for making video like this.
Hello sir. I'm glad to help. Have a good day.

Thanks, will do!
Great video cobuman, thanks. At the end of the video when you reset the password do we tell the user what the temporary password is over the phone or via email? Then he/she can create their new password once they logon.
Thanks Denis, I think either way is fine since it's a temporary password anyway. But, company policy may not allow sending the temp password in email for security reasons.
Thank you...
Great 👍
Nice nice good job sir ty 💪💪💪
Thank you!
Thank you!!
Great videos man, I do this almost daily. Do you happen to have a video on active directory domain controllers/permissions/replication.
Thanks. I don't have an advanced version yet. The closest specific video is this one: ruclips.net/video/iWXvdblkz-A/видео.html

Hi sir i am a system admin in india i was facing the very difficult problem i need to installation and using the windows server 2019 and before admin has forgot the password in server pc there is only display the enterpossword u are my one and only option sir thank you
It's asking for the password of the last person who logged in. Probably local Admin account... but should say the login name as well. If connected to Domain and if you have same Domain login id and password -you should be able to reboot the server and then it will let you type login id.
@@Cobuman thank you so much for the responce ...... Sir

I cant count how many times i did this for users at Nike north america facilities!!! Unlock, reset even had to use bit locker recovery on laptops..all day

How was it? Did you get the job? Good luck.
👍
Hi, Cobuman.
Don't recall it being mentioned but when you select "user must change password at next logon" does it make them change the password every time they try to logon? Do you need to clear the check box after they change it? For example, they change the password to what they want. Then they log off for the day. They come back the next day and try to logon. Will it make them change password again? Since, we have checked the "user must change password at next logon". Therefore, creating a loop of making them change password every time they logon or does it clear the checkbox after the first password reset by the user?
Good question. It should clear itself.
Once they change the password on the next login it clears itself as Cobuman stated.

Liked n subd bro ..you also have a gud dy
Thank you very much. Take care.
What would you do about droplet nexus printer? How to connect if it’s not working?
There are many reasons why it's not working. List all of the things you've done so far in attempt to fix it.
Is there a requirement when giving someone a temp password like number of characters or can you just give them easy password like 1234 and make them reset it ? Ty
It depends on the company you work for; however, I don't see a problem with giving them a temp password that is very simple. They will be forced to change it anyway.
this comment is a year old but just putting this here for other techs in the future. for giving temp passwords my company likes to just use a password generator off google (you can input how complex you'd like this temp password to be, it'll return a temp password that's super complex with a bunch of gibberish, very secure), then put that temp password into a privnote (message that deletes itself after viewing once) and message that off to the client.
Hi, what about security for password resets? Surely someone could call pretending to be the user to reset the password, even security questions can be socially engineered for users.
Every company should have a solid policy to verify the user.
Great question. The first security question when working Help Desk is "What is your pin, last four of SSN or date of birth and etc...?) The 2nd security question would be "what is your login id?". Chances of someone outside of company knowing your login id is incredibly low. This login id is not used outside of the business environment (internet).
Company computers are also incredibly secure which further prevent the possibility of malicious software that can sniff out this info.
But all of this basic verification. If you really wanted to... you can ask them for their phone number (caller id will confirm esp if internal number) or PC name which you can look up the logs for and compare local profile login ID and last time login.
So, yea... there are few things you can verify. 😁
For someone outside of company to social engineer all of this information would be pointless because they would not have access to company network or any computers on the network. They would also need to know specifically which company you work for and which Domain your Login information belongs to. If for some reasons this actually happens it would have been done by a co-worker or user's manager.
I have a question Im confuse. Sorry Im noobie about this. You reset his Outlook email right NOT his Computer?
No worries. I'm here to answer any question. What I did was reset his password for PC login which is the same as Outlook password. Both use same login and password. My recent video might explain this better: ruclips.net/video/Mjq7juZTz3Y/видео.html
@@Cobuman Thank you so much Sir :) So the email outlook is same as the windows pc login right? and If I change my password example outlook. It will also change my windows pc login? the password will be the same?
Sorry for my english but hopefully you understand me
Hello Cobuman, I have a real case where the account in AD is blocked every 5 min, do you know what this could be due to? .. Should I check the domain controllers? This directly affects the disconnection of the mail and the access to RDSH, I did the try with password change but it worked for a moment
I'm assuming the account gets locked out? If so, I've seen this issue happen when someone is logged in at another computer with same login (at the same time). Or one of the applications using the Domain login has outdated login info (old password). I would suggest rebooting any computers used to make sure nothing is trying to use old credentials. Lastly, someone else might be trying to login as the user and keeps failing which locks out the account.
@@Cobuman good suggestion, thanks! I will review in detail how many machines have tried to enter, it is the first video I see and I thought it was great, I will review your other videos, a new subscriber!
@@Rich4rd-88 Thank you sir.
so when you remote in does the active directory pop up automatically?
No, you have to open it from Admin Tools from the Start menu. You can also install Admin Tools on any Windows computer which can connect to that server.
Does resetting password on AD have the same effect as resetting password on O365 Admin?
It can have the same effect if O365 is joined to the same domain as AD.
This is good but how do you confirm their identity over phone?
Your employer will give you talking points. For example; what is your employee id or such. It just varies from place to place.
@@Cobuman Thank you and what a coincidence that the tech guy and the user both had the same name 😉 Thanks for the content.
@@gibson7654 Nice!
Before we use Active directory but now we move on AD manager
It is that easy to unlock user accounts on Active Directory? wow..
Is this applicable to Adminstrator Password? Can I just reset it like that? I hope you can reply. Thanks.
Through AD you can reset passwords for Domain based Admin accounts just like for standard users.
For example, you would have a group in AD that has Admin Credentials called "Tech Support". People that belong to that group will have Admin privileges and you can reset their passwords.
Bro i need about web credentials
I am lost the client reported a password issue with outlook, why then did you need to unlock his domain login password?
Because it's the same credentials.
In most work environments, your Active Directory account is usually the same for logging into your work computer as well as email. If the company has SSO (Single Sign On), it may also give you access to other services using that 1 account. So if your account is disabled or you forgot your password, you can't log in to anything until the account is enabled and/or password reset.
nice video.... iforget windows server 2016 password but i am log in so i need ur to know the password how?
Thanks, If you forget your password in Windows Server at local level (not Domain/AD) all you can do is create another local Admin account and use that as backup login. Otherwise if your server login as Domain based you can change in AD.
@@Cobuman thanks ..we are running erp on server that connects with several system via lan 6 user.if icreat another local admin thn i switch to that user sql n erp will run on that user as same on current user..not will not intrupt in erp
When they ask you if I know Active Directory can I say yes ?
Sure. If you know it, you know it.
