Great comment J. Rust. I am a lifelong Doyers fan and was cool to see Joc compete like that. However I loved watching Vlad Jr. too. His dad was such a masher, seems like yesterday watching him crush balls no matter where the ball was pitched...with no batting gloves. So cool to see sons of former players coming up (although it makes me feel quite old :(

I'm just glad Joc dumped the idea of trying to hit more doubles the past two seasons. It wasn't working. He changed his approach back to hitting dingers and he's back in the HR Derby.
Even more reason to not listen to Steve Vassegh. Petros and Money didn't listen to him when he was an intern there and look at the show now. It was great when Vassegh was on it, bit it's even better now. #dumpvassegh
SLASHISMYHOMMIE 818 his approach isn’t to hit home runs he said it’s just to “barrel up” the ball as well as possible. He uses a huge 40oz bat and totally shells it whenever he makes contact

Guess it's time to get rid of the "can't swing until the previous ball has landed rule" because no one after the first match-up was following it.

Ump was giving a second or so later. I think it was when the ball was descending.
The ruling is now apparently that you can pitch once the ball has crested/reached its max height

Mexishooter JaFe They need to change the rules. Dude should not have lost hitting 91 home runs. All he did was expend a ton of additional energy. They need to cap the earlier rounds at 25. If the first competitor hits 25. He stops immediately. If his opponent hits 25, they immediately go to the 3 swing sudden death. That way, a guy isn’t hitting 30+ home runs in a round for nothing.

AMAZING performances by both. WOW!!!!! MLB got it right with the 4 minute format. So much more enjoyable and intense.
30 hrs with the old format is alot harder than this.... this may be more entertaining but it's not as hard to hit alot of bombs when your taking way more swings

It's like the Josh Hamilton year. If total hrs don't at least give you a tiebreaker then why even count them.
Alonso was the second seed, he may have hit 70 to 75 if he was first seed.
He had to walk off every time.
Vladdy just hit as many as he could and Alonso hit as many as it took to win

This should have been the last round. Would have been a crazy ending. Vladdy deserved it but this round 100% gassed him out for the final. Only 20 years old though. He will be back.

Man I remember watching this and being stunned and in complete awe!! This was just two gladiators engaged in battle putting on a show of both physical and mental toughness!! No one will remember who won the Derby but we will remember this moment in time for years to come. This is as magical as the Josh Hamilton derby at Yankee Stadium! Urban Hymns yea I know but pederson isn’t the best dodger so he doesn’t get as much attention as Seager or Bellinger. And also Vlad Jr is in his rookie season and has only played 60 some games so u really can’t see how good he is quite yet also everyone knows vlad jr is going to be good.

The match up was awesome the fans were awesome the atmosphere was awesome but the best thing was Vlad Jr’s sportsmanship like seriously going up giving Joc a big hug and congratulating him on that performance and doing the same with Alonso is what made me smile
