I can't believe that him and Pederson Broke 35 homeruns they are a show to watch
They hit like 39 because they kept tying. It was awesome to watch

His 2nd ever round: Tied his record he just set in the previous round. And set a new one with 40 including the hit-off round.
By the end: Shattered the overall HR record by 30!

As a mets fan this is hard to take in since its the only thing we actually had to sheer on, and pete alonso was never actually challenged so we never saw what his best performance could have been🤷♂️

TRoberti023 it's not the same. In the past it was based on outs these time based derbys aren't the same. Hamilton's performance was something else.

I loved his dad's swing and I love his swing too. It's a tiny bit sloppier but he's a bigger guy, so. The lines are unbelievable. Watch his dad's swing and see how level everything is, the lines are unbelievable. Jr's got it too. Love both their swings
He has a better swing than what Vlad Senior had on his rookies days. (And Why not he grew up with an excellent teacher) He's only going to get better from here.

The real Million dollar man.....i loved the derby this year.....but they have to do something about that.....changed something so that there can be a true winner by total hr's....this kid had the greatest performance EVER....and then lose.....that always happens. But great job to everyone in this derby lineup for bringing back magic to the derby.....i watched every pitch until it finished dam near midnight...lol

I don't like this time-limit format. You don't get to enjoy the entire flight of the ball before they're swinging for the next one. Plus it definitely favors the younger players as it seems pretty hard on the body. I'm surprised no one's been injured yet.

It is time to go back to the old format. The clock tires players out faster. Maybe expand the outs to 15 or something but old format was better all around.
Why keep comparing to old HR Derbys with different rules? Vlad Jr would have only had like 8 in this round if playing by those rules (10 swings not resulting in HR and you're done).
Props to VLAD and ALONSO both made it to the finals as Rookies that's impressive #LABLEEDSBLUE

This taking nothing away from anybody, but it's ridiculous to compare numbers between two different Home Run Derbies.
If Vlad Sr. and Vlad Jr were using the same rules as Vlad Sr did in 2007, round one would be:
Vlad Sr: 5
Vlad Jr: 7
Vlad Jr. Obviously outpaced his father, but it isn't anything close to what you'd expect when you hear them go on and on about how many more Jr. had.
It's kind of insulting to even try to convince viewers that there is any way to compare players who played with different rules in place.

I almost think this was kinda setup for him to break the record? Or why did they all of a sudden not require him and other hitters to hit another baseball before the previous one has landed. I remember watching stanton hitting some high pop ups and the ump made the pitcher wait until they hit the ground. He was very serious about making the pitcher wait.

A play clock has no place in baseball...the old rules were way better ...allowed players to take their time to make better swings without getting tired...these new rules are bullshit
