I never signed up to Poshmark because I just can’t be doing with the social aspect and the constant effort required. Honestly the reason I love working for myself and being a reseller is partly because I don’t have to spend time with people!! But as you said, Ebay sales aren’t brilliant at the moment, I’m trying to spend less money per item when sourcing and frequenting the really cheap shops (there’s a nice Sue Ryder clearance near me). I too need to use some auctions - after all, all those free auctions we get and it’s a waste not to.
Omg, Chloe you are a breath of fresh air. I am so glad one of the main sellers on PM has actually come out and talked about how disappointing the promo has been by PM. It just feels like you guys that sell and share on Instagram are doing ALL of the heavy lifting at the moment. I work PT and sell PT and literally not one person outside the reselling community has ever heard of PM!! That’s just not right. Instead of spending x amount on all these seller meet ups they need to get an advertising campaign going for you guys. It literally breaks my heart when I see how much effort people put into their shows and they have very little return. Honestly I could go on for days but I think most of my other points will have been made by other people. Good to see you back on YT though 😊
The app has so much potential! I genuinely do really love it. I just wish they'd push it more! It's all sellers atm, and most people I've asked, haven't even heard of it! I really hope they have some kind of marketing planned x
Totally agree with your take on Poshmark. I burnt out quickly, seeing how much time it takes to share items and wondering, where are the buyers? I started snooping around in successful sellers' sold items, and I noticed that a good 80-90% of sold items go for under £10. That was sobering! Live shows: My reselling stategy is to keep low quantity but high value items (high profit per item). I don't have the storage space and I hate listing so much, so the fewer items I have to list the better 🤣Also, I don't live in an area where I can easily find cheap items for £1-£2 in charity shops - I need to be very selective with what I am picking up because prices are insane. Live shows seem to be the opposite - lots of items turned over for minimal profit. That's not what brought me to reselling tbh. I'm almost glad I never made it to ambassador status and wasn't tempted into live shows! From the customer side, I find live shows entertaining - once or twice, but then it gets tired. If I want an item, I want to buy it. If I don't want an item, a live auction won't bring me to spend money on it. And a note on Etsy: Etsy is notorious for crashing shop traffic in holiday mode. It takes a lot of time until traffic to your shop picks up again after holiday mode. Some sellers say they prefer to increase their order processing time instead of setting it to holiday mode, e.g. when they're away for a week or two. Might wanna try that! ;-)
It takes up so much time. Which I would be completely fine with, if it was paying off! I'm just going to keep at it, with that hope that the hard work will pay off at some point!!
Poshmark definitely needs some marketing to the wider public. Huge potential but if they don't spread the word people will just not know about it. Its well known now in the reseller world they just need to tell everyone else about it!!
Poshmark just appears to be a community of sellers, most of which are from the US. My list of followers rise exponentially, nearly all are from the US yet I'm not sure I can sell to these people.
Thank you for sharing Chloe, you have just confirmed my experience, 50 items listed over 2 months, zero sale. I think Vinted has taken fair bit of the market, driving prices down, but people shop there! I am also fed up with the sheer amount of US followers, I don't see the point, they cannot even see my wardrobe!
I always browsed the American Poshmark over the past 3 years, seemed stable and serene but never bought as was in the US. I opened a UK account, but have yet to upload and sell. Looking at it I found the whole experience far too busy, parties, bundles, live shows, items from the USA showing on the UK site, constant emails from Poshmark clogging up my email account, offers when you just view something, and of course followers? Sellers following resellers or potential resellers, why? The whole thing is far to much for me. I just haven't got the time to engage with all that's going on. Watched 2 live shows over a week, but regretted that I wasted a whole evening watching them, when I could be doing other things to be honest! I have bought one item since February, but seriously can't be bothered as life is too short. So it's a "No" from me.
I honestly love it. But I can definitely see how it's like marmite! It's not for everyone. But the live show aspect is so much fun for me. I just wish they would advertise it more!
Been there twice in my life having places rewired, the mess was ridiculous with living in the place as well. I have only ever used eBay as I don't use anything else and don't use Facebook. Etsy is the only thing I tried in the past, I sold nothing over a 6-month time span so I stick with eBay but that is hit and miss with selling, been like that for the last 2 or 3 years. Love the video Chloe and I agree with everything you said. Best of luck with your sales❤.
Thanks for the honest video Chloe! I've been giving my thoughts on Posh on my channel - similar to you, I love it but no-one outside of the reseller community has even heard of it in the UK!
Absolutely agree with you about PM. It was quite exciting at first to have a new app to buy and sell on but it now it’s just frustrating. I have only had 2 general sales and the rest have been through shares on shows where the items have only sold for a fiver (seems kinda pointless making £4 after fees!!!) Doing a live show is not for me at the moment - maybe one day it will be. For now it feels like it’s just resellers selling to other resellers who take those goods elsewhere to sell on! Also seems the only way you get any sales in the first place is to host a live show! Until they get more general public on board it’s taken a back seat to other selling sites for me.
Personally I love watching & hosting the live shows. But atm it seems to be a lot of work for very little pay off. I just hope they have some sort of marketing planned & that all the hard work people have put in ill be worth it in the long run!
@@chloesresellingjourney I do think the shows are fab and the community is really great and supportive. They just need to kick their marketing team into action to reel in more general buyers. Fingers crossed they get on it soon ☺️
Time blocking can definitely be such a big help, but 2 hours is my max on any one thing before i burn out at it 🤣 Poshmark is such a tricky one isnt it. I've also been on it since Feb but ive got no interest in doing lives 🤣 im too much of a wimp for that. I also hope they start adverising because i dont want to give it up but its already costing me in my time so its a tricky one. Fab video 😊
I didnt think I'd enjoy lives, but I'm so glad I gave it a go! I love them now! I'm definitely going to try time blocking. I have such a scatter brain and nothing is getting done!!x
Sorry-2nd comment as I had to watch video in two halves! I have chosen to not sell on pm because it makes zero sense as that’s not where the traffic is. I sort of have the ‘work smarter not harder’ and working for a couple of quid on pm makes no sense when those same items will make you so much more on eBay.
I think there are two issues. The first is the complete lack of advertising from PM. They seem more content to host hipster parties. No shade to anyone who goes to them, but really….it’s an interesting decision on PM’s part. Secondly, they just plain old missed the boat. Why on earth would anyone choose to buy and sell on Pm when there is vinted with no fees and no work?! If Vinted do open to business sellers, the PM might as well just close their doors. 🤷♀️
Maybe with this heatwave we can sell the summer stuff we couldn't sell in July and August 😅. I didn't even buy any back to school stuff. Everything that was used the last 2 months ( full uniform schoolbag shooes and pe kit) at school is back on duty this week. I think people already spent their £20 or 5 credits and poshmark will tank. Love your videos Chloe!
They’re certainly not advertising. I didn’t realise until this video that Posh mark existed in this country. Don’t know much about it. Is it like Vinted?
Hi Chloe. Can i ask if you are selling anything outside the lives shows on the platform? also if you are going to the meet up and people ask if there plan is to get a good base of buyer then start advertising? as the plan to get resellers advertising to other resellers does seem a little weird? i have done hours on poshmark with sharing and following and keeping myself active, however it makes no difference. I'm just wondering if the live shows is generating buyer to your closet after and there buying?
Good to hear someone realise how absurd PM is. All these people boasting about their £5 starts… why are they even promoting selling stuff at a fiver makes no sense. The live show aspect is amazing, such a good idea, but PM seem to be expecting resellers to be doing their promotion for them. And all the sharing your items / sharing other people items - jog on 😂

I'm going to make a point of using the free auctions more. Even if it's just for clearance!

Totally agree with everything Chloe, I will be putting the marketing question to them at the event in Manchester 😊
It has SOOOO much potential! I just feel like they could be doing a whole lot more on the marketing front.
Please do! Ask them!
please let us all know the response x
I think we should all start asking them. If they put it on a bus or tv or something it would massively help

I’m feeling exactly the same at the Mo. I need to be more organised 😁
Been thinking about getting on poshmark. Soon. Very soon.

I think (hope) its just a matter of time before poshmark starts advertising, its massive in the USA, they'll want it to be successful here
Fingers crossed!!
