"Ebony Eyes" and "Precious Love" were other hits for Bob.
I love both of those songs!
Have you seen that girl in the corner?
So was "Hot Love Cold World".
Ebony Eyes is one of the most memorable choruses of 70's radio! But then again, so is Sentimental Lady!
love both of them....but you forgot about his greatest song!
It's What You Don't Say
ruclips.net/video/lbASt8brFMQ/видео.html
He's from Fleetwood Mac, from 1970-1974, left & replaced by Buckingham Nicks & this song was originally a Fleetwood Mac song from 1972's album "Bare Trees"...
Indeed. STILL my favorite Fleetwood Mac album.
Wow! Fun fact.😊
Yes, it made sense Welch re-recorded it later since he wrote it. I like Christine's backing vocal in this song better on Bare Trees.
Is a great album most people forget about, it has such a wide range of sound and genre really. I particularly love the instrumental "Sunny Side of Heaven" is like floating in the clouds, a real chill piece.
I've always loved 'Future Games' album, and have suggested a couple songs from it to J & Amber. :)
You are absolutely right sir I forgot all about that he was with Fleetwood Mac I was wondering what band he was from
Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac on background vocals with the chorus: “All I need is you”… 😎
I love that!❤
RIP Christine! ♥
Lindsey, Mick and John on the track as well
Thanks. I never caught that.
@@michaelvielhaber9342 Indeed!
You might call this Fleetwood Mac Bob Welch - guitars, lead and backing vocals
Lindsey Buckingham - guitars, backing vocals
Christine McVie - backing vocals, keyboards
John McVie - bass guitar
Mick Fleetwood - drums, tambourine
The original recording was done while he was with Mac, I actually prefer that version.
@@dennisshaper4744 That was F-Mac's best work, the Welch Era, imho. "Emerald Eyes," "Hypnotized,' mmph!!!
Buckingham, not on this before, he joined Fleetwood Mac
@@JamesCole-ep4dfThis is the "French Kiss" album version which DOES feature Lindsey!
"French Kiss" as a whole, is a Fleetwood Mac influenced album, with a LOT of the current members of the time doing stuff on the album, same with John Stewart's "Bombs Away Dream Babies" album which Lindsey co-produced!
I'm surprised that Stevie doesn't pop up anywhere on the "French Kiss" album!
The vocal "all I need is you" was sung by the late great Christine McVie.
I didn't know that.
I love Christine's voice! Her timbre and tone are perfection.
@@carltonbakerii8274 Agreed.
So miss her.
@@garyarnett1220 Me too. I keep forgetting she's gone. I'm half expecting Fleetwood Mac to announce their next tour. So sad. 😢
"Hypnotized" is my favorite. Still in my playlist.
Oooooooooh yeah!
Was the ringtone on my phone for years.
Love that song. And “Albatross.”
Don't forget "Emerald Eyes" and "Future Games". And also "Sands of Time", "Forever" and "Keep on Going" are bangers!
Yes!
Rest In Peace Christine McVie Of Fleetwood Mac. . . .
She Was 1 Fantastic Singer, And Keyboardist For Fleetwood Mac . . . R.I.P. Sentimental Lady . . .
You know Bob Welch is dead too, right?
ha
@@MarcutsuSpoon
I’m pretty sure he committed suicide. Very sad!
Oh my favorite Bob Welch song!!!! This is a great album!! Ebony Eyes is another great song by him!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rest In Peace Robert Lawrence Welch Jr. (August 31, 1945 - June 7, 2012) . . .
Rest In Peace Robert (Bob) Lawrence Welch . . .
Check out Cal Jam II from 1978 Bob Welch with Stevie Nicks singing Ebony Eyes.On youtube.. Incredible!
Man, the talent and production values for songs from the 70's are just untouchable.
This track has Christine McVie on backing vocal. Also check out his song, Ebony Eyes. This song was also done when he was with Fleetwood Mac (before Buckingham/Nicks joined). Speaking of early Fleetwood Mac, check out the original Black Magic Woman with Peter Green on lead vocal and Hypnotized with Bob Welch on lead.
Bare Trees as well
Also check out Fleetwood Mac's The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown) later covered by Judas Priest and the original version of Oh Well. Both Peter Green era tunes.
@@ukesrule58
I have an original vinyl copy. 🔱
Hypnotized is an underrated gem.
This is a beautiful song
I heard MOM! MOM! 😂 For an old grandpa like me, that’s music too. ❤😊
And for this great grandpa aswell :)
Caught that. Better answer the kid. We'll gladly wait.
Grandma here - think a little one needs ya momma - i agree - we'll wait
I thought maybe it was an "Ojay's killing on the record" moment.
05:29 'MOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!" 😂😂
Christine Mc Vie is singing "all i need is you" She was AMAZING
Original version on Fleetwood Mac’s Bare Trees album. This came out in 1977 and was arranged by Lindsey, who played acoustic guitar and sang background, 😊Mick on drums, John on bass, Christine background. PS - Lindsey’s hallmark is not using a pick :)
Very interesting!
Can definitely hear Lindsey's influence there. The song sounds like a warm-up for 1980s Fleetwood Mac arrangements.
I was going to say, there is NO pick being used. LOL
Lindsay Buckingham produced this version.
"Hypnotized" by Bob Welch when he was in Fleetwood Mac.
Bob Welch was Fleetwood Mac’s vocalist (and a guitarist I think?). He departed right before Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham joined.
Fun fact: Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood are all playing on this song. In fact, this is a remake of an old Fleetwood Mac song. This version is much better, and is just amazing! Great choice y’all.
One of my favorite songs. One of the most beautiful songs ever written ❤️❤️
Another great tune that was all over the radio in 1977-78.
"Ebony Eyes" was Bob Welch's other biggest hit and it will give you another side of his music.
Childhood memories! Soft rock ruled the waves!💖😍
Back to High school with this one. Enjoy his music guys
Same!
"Ebony Eyes" is another beautiful song from him. "Hypnotized" from his days with Fleetwood Mac is excellent as well.
Love Christine McVie's background vocals on this.
This is one of my favorite songs EVER! It's BEAUTIFUL!
Ebony eyes is another good one from him.
You need to hear his song Hypnotized. One of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs.
Yes indeed a fave …
I heard MOM, MOM, too - hope everyone's GOOD!! THANKS for THIS ONE!! HUGS!
I was 20 years old when this was on the radio..... those were the days!
SUCH a great song! One of my favorites from the 70’s! And Christine McVie sings lovely backup vocals.
A "sentimental" childhood favorite, ahhhhhhh.
This is one of those songs that went on my "all time" list when it was first released and hasn't left the list yet.
This is from his Fleetwood days. Christine McVie is back doing background vocals for him, which makes it a bit magical. ("All I need is you")
You need to hear him sing, " your precious love"., its the best.
Yacht Rock classic. A very 70's song. Beautiful. Love hearing tje late Christine McVie on backing vocals
I have only learned that term in the last year or so.
Finally 😮 now hit "Hypnotized" by Fleetwood Mac and you'll get a great tune by Bob 🎸
I was listening to this just the other day. It brings back so many memories. He was with Fleetwood Mac before Lindsay and Stevie joined. He also appeared in Lindsay’s video for Trouble. Check out Welch’s Ebony Eyes. It’s more up tempo.
He was a very distinctive guitarist. He unfortunately took his own life when he contracted a terminal disease, rather than leave his family with huge medical bills. Sad end to a good life.
I remember being five years old and thinking that this and “Music Box Dancer” by Frank Mills were the most beautiful songs ever. 😂
Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac with Bob singing lead is one of my all time favorite tunes!! think I'll listen to it now lol
A classic, such a good song❤️
having been diagnosed with a debilitating illness later in life and not wanting to become a burden to his wife bob welch shot himself in the chest taking his own life....how sad an ending to such a great artist..:(
makes him a hero in my eyes....
Never give up.
I was a three year old tiny tot when this was released. I heard it through my childhood, then forgot completely about it for over two decades!!! Then one day, I heard it playing and it made me so happy.
You've heard him he was in Fleetwood Mac. "Hot Love, Cold World" and "Ebony Eyes" are two other bangers. This is a great album!
Oh man! I haven't heard this for years. Love this song. Brings back such memories. Thanks so much for this one!
My two favorite RUclipsrs reacting to one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. It doesn’t get any better than that. This made my day. Bob was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1971-1974, and then Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks replaced him. Bob actually recorded this with Fleetwood Mac in 1972, but re-recorded it in 1977 after he went solo. In fact, this song was produced by Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie, with Lindsey and Bob on guitar, and Christine on backing vocals. This song is a masterpiece. So beautiful and ethereal. It’s like a little slice of musical Heaven. Thank you for this. You have no idea how much this song means to me even after all these years. ❤
By the way, this is actually Bob’s softest and lightest song. He was actually a great guitarist. Check out some of his more rocking songs like “Precious Love”. Another one that’s a must is “Ebony Eyes”, which features backing vocals by none other than Juice Newton.
This song, ditto.
This is a really great song to play on a 12-string acoustic. I did this live at an open mic and people were all singing and swaying in their seats. Bob Welch was very talented
Can't be easy to nail these vocalsn
@@John_Locke_108 just gotta make it your own…
This is my favorite Bob Welch song. The Fleetwood Mac version he wrote and sang was good but this is better. It sure sounds like a Lindsey Buckingham production, and the harpsichord and clear clean acoustic guitar make it better. I knew Lindsey and Christine McVie were involved; I didn't know Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were on it too. And I've seen a clip of Stevie Nicks and Bob Welch performing this together live.
Bob's relationship with his former bandmates had its ups and down. Mick Fleetwood in his autobiography said, "Bob Welch saved Fleetwood Mac." They had lost their front line guitar players Peter Green (flipped out on LSD) and Jeremy Spencer (who left the tour in L.A. to join a religious cult.) They hired Welch without an audition.
Welch's other best songs (to me) were with Fleetwood Mac: "Hypnotized" and "Future Games."
This version is definitely still a de-facto Fleetwood Mac song.
Bob Welch was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 71-74. I had some of his records when he went solo. All the songs on the "French Kiss" album are good. Some hits were "Hot Love, Cold World", "Ebony Eyes", "Precious Love", "Hypnotized' & "Sentimental Lady". Sadly he ended up committing suicide in 2012 at the age of 66.
It was originally a Fleetwood Mac song of which Bob was a member. In fact, you can hear Christine McVie singing background vocals on this song. Check out Ebony Eyes by Bob Welch, next!
Bob Welch (RIP) left Fleetwood Mac just before Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham joined. Just before they really skyrocketed to fame and fortune. In this song you can really hear and feel the influence he had on Fleetwood Mac even after he was gone. I thought you guys listened to Ebony Eyes a year or two ago. I knew Amber would love this song. ❤
The juxtaposition of the gentle fade out of the song and the child yelling in another room was highly entertaining. 😂
Great song!!! He was in Fleetwood Mac and sung an awesome song called Hypmotized. Check it out.
“Precious Love” is a great one.
'Cause we live in a time, When meaning falls in splinters from our lives" One of my favorite lines from any song.
Fantastic tune. Love the 70's era of music. As so many have mentioned, Welch was a member of Fleetwood Mac early on and some of the Mac members are helping out on this tune. Can't go wrong with that.
I could have sworn I remembered you two reacting to "Ebony Eyes" sometime ago. As for "Sentimental Lady," this is his solo version after he left Fleetwood Mac but there is also a version recorded on the Fleetwood Mac "Bare Trees" album prior to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joining the band. Christine McVie sings backing vocals on both versions and John McVie and Mick Fleetwood perform on both versions.
I love this song. It’s so beautiful.
Bob had a spine surgery back in the 2011-12 era…and it didnt work. He was still in tremendous pain and a few weeks later…he wrote his wife an extremely long love letter and took his own life. I remember when the news broke that he had passed away but this story came out a while after.
His wife passed a few years later and they are buried beside each other.
Bob Welch (RIP) was thelead guitarist for Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green, and when Bob left, that left an opening for Lindsay Buckingham, who brought along Stevie Nicks as a package deal that he insisted upon. My favorite track Bob Welch did with Flleetwood Mac is called Hypnotized, solo check out Ebony Eyes.
Love hearing the kids yelling in the house!!!
Talk about a "vibe"!!! 😂
Having grown up with this music, it's so familiar and comforting!
An easier time.
Fun fact, Bob Welch released his song, “Ebony Eyes”, in 1978. His backing vocals? …..Juice Newton! Check that one out next. Many of his live performances of that song, Stevie Nicks would be on stage providing backing vocals! 😁
He also did a song called "Devil Wind" with Stevie Nicks on harmony vocal.
I saw him open up for Heart in Tulsa, OK on July 14th 1978 at the fairground pavilion....it was great show!
Bob Welch used to be the lead singer for the band Fleetwood Mac, he's a guitar player he was there before Stevie nicks.
And Buckingham...can't forget him.
After Fleetwood Mac, he joined Rock Band Paris. The first Paris album is a Hard Rock Classic. Check it out. Very Zeppelinesque. Great songs.
Mom you’re needed in the other room
I was reading comments b/f finishing the song and kept wondering why people were saying, "Mom! Mom!" 🤣🤣
😅
Did you catch Christine McVie's (Fleetwood Mac) background vocals towards the end of the song? Bob Welch was formerly in Fleetwood Mac.
Can't believe I never realized that was her. Seems so obvious now.
I love, love LOVE this song!
Bob originally recorded this when he was in Fleetwood Mac (pre-Lindsey & Stevie) on their Bare Trees album. On this version he omitted the second verse. Christine McVie sings the “all I need is you” parts. In fact, every member of the then-current version of Fleetwood Mac (except for Stevie Nicks) plays on the song.
Loved this & his other Hits from the day!....Also loved Fleetwood Mac's 'Future Games' album pre-Nicks from when Bob Welch was a member. Have suggested a couple songs from this album in the past. :) Great Reaction, You Guys! :)
Love this song! One of his songs with Fleetwood Mac, “Hypnotized,” is one of their all-time best. You may have covered that song. BTW he belongs in the RRHOF with Fleetwood Mac. He was robbed!
Love this song!! I get goosebumps hearing it. So beautiful! Love your channel! Amber and Jay, you rock!!
Awesome.. Thanks for reacting to such a great song and talented artist. Just a great gem from the 70's.
Always loved this song and especially, Ebony Eyes "!! His music always reminds me of sitting around a campfire and he breaks out the acoustic and starts singing. Very calm and soothing.
Was my song in disco in the year 1977, original sung by Christine McVie, here in the background ! Bob Welch was in Fleetwood Mac, when the band moved to the US sbout.
"Sentimental Lady" was first recorded on Fleetwood Mac's "Bare Trees" album in 1972 Bob Welsh was a member the Mac along with Danny Kirwan back then. When Bob Welch left that's when Lindsey and Stevie joined the band.
I particularly love the instrumental "Sunny Side of Heaven" on that album.
You should check out early Fleetwood Mac, songs like "Oh Well" and "Black Magic Woman" from the Peter Green era of the Mac, etc...
OMG, another favorite from back in the day I'd forgotten...
A beautiful rock n roll ballad. A classic. The 70s truly a creative and influential period in rock music.
The song Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac is Bob Welch on lead vocals!
Bob Welch at Cal jam 2 , with Mick Fleetwood on drums, and Stevie on backup vocals
3 Cal Jam 2 Veterans out here in the comment section ⚡👍🏼
Haven't heard this one for years - honestly, I'd forgotten about it until I saw the title on this video. Thanks for putting this and others like it on your review playlist. Almost any music from '65 - '95 is good, but '70's & '80's really are the sweet spot as far as I'm concerned.
Great song from my high school years. Bob was in Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green and before Buckingham/Nicks. They did Sentimental Lady and Bob did this version after he left and went solo. As others have mentioned Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood played on this version. Another Bob Welch song to check out is Ebony Eyes. Some Bob Welch era Fleetwood Mac songs to listen to are Hypnotized, Bare Trees and Bermuda Triangle.
Bob Welch - Ebony Eyes! Released 1977 It's a bit more rockin'
This was huge back in the day, one of the best date night songs. Love it. Thanx so much, stay groovy, Peace
Saw Bob Welch and Stevie Nicks at California Jam II at Ontario Motor Speedway in the late 70's.
I was there too ! March 18 1978 16 years old and that was my first big concert...Aerosmith, Foreigner, Heart,Ted Nugent, Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush... Along with Bob...What a Trip !!! Good to see a survivor out there of a special time ⚡⚡👍🏼
Nice Reaction...
I Had Always Thought This Song Was Written About Bob Being Out
On The Water In His Sail Boat...
Thought Back In The 70's I Had Also Saw An Interview With Him
About The Solo Album {Sort Of} French Kiss
& That The Song Sentimental Lady
Was More About Being On The Calm Water's In His Boat..
But,
Looking More Into It,
It was Written About his 1st Wife..
Either Way,
It's Definitely A Beautiful, Sensual, Intimate Song,
In Which I Have Always Loved & Really Glad You Checked It Out...
Although only vaguely familiar from my childhood, such a beautifully melodic tune!
He did the Great Tune "Hypmotized" when he was with Fleetwood Mac
Great song !!!!! That's Christine McVie saying "All I need" which by the way Bob Welch was originally with Fleetwood Mac.
I love this song so much! It was a staple on my radio back in the day...and on my playlists ever since!
One of my favorite songs.
Welch did a song with Fleetwood Mac, that wasn't a single, but got a little radio play, called Silver Heels. I remember the lyrics "If I could sing like Paul McCartney, get funky like Etta James, I'd never change."
This was a track from Fleetwood Mac's 1974 album "Heroes Are Hard to Find".
@@joeyrobison6629 Yeah, I bought an 8-disc CD box set, for that album and Penguin. I had 6 other discs in the set, with albums I already had, but it was still cheaper to buy the box.
Man, this brings me back to my single digits in age. I'm right back there in the 70's when I listen to this. The weird thing about this song is it only has one verse. 🤔
Was that one of your children calling "Mom!" at 5:29 and again at 5:34? Adorable. There's nothing like family.
Earth, Wind & Fire - "Thinking of You" (1988). A dope banger!
The Bob Welch era of Fleetwood Mac released 5 albums from 1971-1974, a very prilolific period for the band: Future Games, Bare Trees, Penguin, Mystery To Me, and Heroes are Hard to Find. Sentimental Lady was originally on Bare Trees. Christine McVie's contributions must be acknowledged during this period too. So much great music still to explore. As others noted, Hypnotized (with FM) and Ebony Eyes (solo) are his next most-famous songs that you should hear.
I remember him well, as he was with Fleetwood Mac when they were still good (pre-'75). I see others have suggested a few others of his to check out.
You need to listen to "Hypnotized" by Fleetwood Mac. An early 70's classic with Bob Welch on vocals.
I loved Bob Welch, both solo and his time in Fleetwood Mac. Dry underrated singer, songwriter and guitarists. He and Christine McVie were primary vocalists for several albums that were quite good and very underrated. This so g was originally on Fleetwood Mac's Bare Trees album, one of my faves. Homeward Bound from it is Christine McVie lamenting the road in emotional terms, great stuff.
Also, Bob form a one off band with Glenn Cornick of Jethro Tull and Ex Nazz drummer Thorn Mooney in a band named Paris. One killer album you need to hear, it would blow you away. Try Black Book from Paris, a true banger and lead into an album full of bangers. Bob Welch Rocks! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
70's soft rock. Smooth groove. ☮🧡🎶
