@@sammccormick9109 Okay, but that has nothing to do with the point being made. Joyce is Irish, so it could be said that Kate has an appreciation for Irish culture, but also for British culture. Like Kate I am English and Irish, and I apppreciate both cultures.

Wow, I just happened to watch this video on October 16th which was the day this album was released in 1989. Another brilliant album from the best artist ever.
It's probably her most accessible LP, isn't it? The Kick Inside was a mainstream blockbuster, but it was very weird. The Hounds of love was a hit parade on one side, but then the B-side was a far-out conceptual suite of experimental textures and chilling themes. The Sensual World saw her getting a little less weird and playing with World Music and easily accessible Adult Contemporary styling. "The Sensual World" got some play on local Soft Rock stations near Atlanta when it came out, even. But of course, "This Woman's Work" was the main track from the LP that stuck in America's imagination.
@@MRoyClark I love the weird, moody, dark Kate as much as the pop Kate. When I listened to the Kick inside the first time, I thought, is that song about incest??? Who does that?? Courageous and real!! A story in a song, no matter the depth, is the best! Army Dreamers, Kashka from Baghdad,, Heads were Dancing...on and on it goes.

I've watched Amber grow to love Kate and I think Jay finally sees Kate for the true artist she is. I love the point, counterpoint on your reactions because Kate is truly unique. For the most part I side with Amber because Kate is a true artistic force and I've been a huge fan of hers since 1978 when she released "The Kick Inside". I love that you said she sounds genuinely delighted during the “mmm yes” because that’s always been my favorite thing about this song - she conveys exuberance so convincingly here that it’s infectious.
Great song. It's great to hear all the Irish instrumentation running through the song (her mother was from Ireland and a trained Irish dancer, Kate grew up immersed in Irish culture). The song is based on a soliloquy from Molly Bloom in the book Ulysses, written by the Irish writer James Joyce. She's understanding her power and sensuality. There were no fullstops in the song, just thoughts running into each other. Hence the strident music. This whole album is great. But this might be my favourite track from the album👏👏👏
The world is full of musical acts who succeed by following a genre, a formula, a trademark style. We need artists like Kate Bush, who toss the rule book over their shoulder, and give us music that makes us think and feel.
