Alistair challenged the woman asking, “does your grandson understand your belief in Jesus makes it such that you cannot countenance in any affirming way the choices that he is making…”Understand that, I heard this message in a podcast more recently than September and have been thinking about this for a little while. While I agree with you that those Christians calling sexual sin just another sin compared to gluttony are very wrong, your advice to reject the grandson’s invitation and offer a righteously indignant sermon can only result in her forfeiture of any future opportunity to genuinely speak into the life of her grandson. 1Corinthians 5:9-13 Abe, how often you like to say “the world is going to world” Paul reminds us here that we can’t just leave it!! Further, This woman’s grandson is not the “Church”. You would put the weight of the world on this grandma to ostracize herself in judgment of her grandson. I cannot see any not any possible glory for Jesus, his Gospel or his Kingdom in this life or the next with that approach. Normal people without radio shows need every day interaction with their family and friends in order to influence them.
