Haha I just find your channel. Nice Roland in the end you did buy the GS 😊. I still own a 1150 110.000 km on it and still going strong 💪🏽

My wife has a GS1250, I call it a Chelsea Tractor, which is what we in England call a large four-wheel drive vehicle used mainly in urban areas.
And I reckon about 95 per cent of GS's sold around the world are Chelsea Tractors.
    Just my opinion 😂😂😂😂

Yes, yes I actually take it off road. Loaded with gear. It does just fine. Even in sand if you ride it properly. It’s not a dirt bike but its way more capable than most people can handle.

It's not "Bad tings", it's things that you personally struggle with 😁 The Whizz wheel works in all weather and with summer or winter gloves unlike quite a few alternatives from other manufacturer's😛 So that's a win. "ADVENTURE BIKE" it's not MotoX, Trial's or trail bike! TheGS /GSA usually come with dual use tyres 70 or 80% road use, the rest for dirt. Big clue there🤪
if you take up car rallying you don't go from a road car to a WRX World Rally Championship car. You start with something slower and smaller until you develop off road skills and speed. If you want to hit sand or a remote dirt road with a GSA, do the training and fit suitable tyres.
A Ferrari or Lamborghini doing 120kph and feeling like its doing 60kph is seen as being a good feature of the quality of build and performance. Same with big bikes like the GSA.
There is no lack of power and excitement, it's your rock musician hearing Roland. The trend is for excitement too be linked to NOISE😛 Like a heavy metal band!
Thats's why some people spend 1000 or 2000 Euros on an Akrapovic or Jekill and Hyde Exhaust/ Muffler Can. They think the race bike/F1 roar of the exhaust/muffler means the bike is much faster when really they are no more near being Valentino Rossi than their old Grandmother😂😂 Noisy, but just as slow, and annoying everyone for 3km around them😔
The truth is that the GSA is your favourite and that's why you were in Annecy on it rather than the Afrrica Twin Adventure 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

    Boxer engines
In Britain are known as Tractors due to the agricultural sound ,and clunky gearbox,
    Yet people love them ,
Great bit of information enjoyed you comments 👍

The gear box on my 1250 Gs hardly clunks compared to my 2018 HD Sport Glide with the 107 CI engine. Harleys are clunkers, this gear box is quite pleasant.

Man, I’m sorry but when we don’t have nothing to say you make a video like this. It’s only natural. It’s a problem when we got nothing to say. I respect the exercise but it just confirms the magnificent bike the BMW GS is. A lot of the pretentious flaws that you pointed, are in fact virtues from my point of view. All of the nit picking flaws that you pointed out, aren’t really problems that you can’t go around.
And hey! There are plenty of alternatives on the market! What are you waiting for?
Hope that you don’t get mad with my comment here, because it isn’t my intention . When I don’t like something, I go out and get something more suited to my taste. Nothing that you said is new for us. We live with the good and the bad that things have. Nothing is perfect, and neither we are. That’s so obvious
Be well and ride safe ✌️✌️

Oh it’s a very good bike, I say it multiple times in the video, however, there is still some room for improvement in my eyes :)
      After all, nothing is perfect.

That’s what gets me about ADV bikes as an overall class of bikes. Too heavy for proper off-road, not the correct tool. They are just alternatives to sports tourers that can do very light off-road and that’s about it. It is so much better to have two bikes that does each type of riding like a finely crafted perfect tool than one single unicorn bike that is like cutting steak with a very dull butter knife. Sorry, it’s just how it is. If you want to ride off road and I mean all day long the optimum power to weight ratio is a 300cc four stroke with a proper off road frame and suspension travel. If you have to ride to your off-road destination on you can up the cc to 400 maybe to 450 but compared to the 300 it weighs too much for the power it puts down to be comfortable for all day riding off road. You will definitely feel the difference when moving from the 300 to the 400-450. 1000 and up? 😂😂😂 be truthful to yourselves. You really just have and use the bike as a sports tourer 99% of the time but in ADV bolt on lipstick look so you stand out as being different. In the end any bike can do light off road, even a pig of a Harley or a street bike so there is nothing special about these class of bikes. But if they get you out there and riding it’s all good.

Someone who finally "gets it" that selling Adventure is a gimmick. Great for paved roads in Alaska and everywhere else.... gravel roads too.... but mud and dirt roads, unless maintained by a grader... too nice a bike to subject it to the muck, mud, fuss, abuse, and cleaning. I could jump my 1985 XR 350 Honda. I'd never jump my GS, just don't think the driveshaft / swing arm / rear suspension will have it, without failure.

    • @TheRideWithRoland
      @TheRideWithRoland  Год назад

The Wonder Wheel makes me wonder what german BMW engineers were smoking when they came up with that idea. How about a 4 arrow button on the left control module, thank you! Computer mouse and keyboard geeks figured that out with Windows 3.0, pre Windows 95. Reinventing the wheel, with no improvement, or intuitive thinking.

They should put these wonder wheels in an airplane instrument panels of their fighter jets, since they did begin making airplane engines. I don't think computers, software, TFT screens or programming is their forte, at all.
