@alberlos I guess, but in the recordings of this piece, it sounds like just a roll. I feel like actually trilling between 2 notes on timpani would sound really odd lol
Yeah, I'm the timpanist for a semi-professional community orchestra, and we're pulled out Finlandia to play last night. I didn't played it in a while and I decided to listen to different recordings to hear what the professions interpretations are. This timpanist is playing a lot of wrong notes too. They've got me thinking of turning pro, but I can't touch Daniel Bauch at the BSO. LOL
@@pencildragon1961 Yeah, I haven't looked at Finlandia before, but just read it today and there are too many mistakes on the timpanist's part. It's very timpani soloistic too.

So uh, we just gonna ignore the literal 11.5 notes a second for the sixtuplets? And then he’s having us play it a few clicks faster than this too, so make that closer to 12… bro I’m a sophomore in high school 😭
One of the greatest musical works ever.

I remember playing this at Carnegie Hall with my school’s Symphonic Orchestra when I was a freshman.
Pretty cool experience.
Wonderful. Following the Score just adds to the excitement of this piece.
I was thinking to myself 'how in the world do you trill on timpani'
But then I quickly realized it's just rolling

Composers back then typically wrote rolls as trills, so yeah
it can be notated as tremolos as well
This is such a beautiful piece!

Excellent orchestra!!! I just hate Sibelius... Ugh...
Why
What's wrong with sibelius?
Have you heard the second subject of his violin concerto? That stuff is magical
No kidding, have to admit I'm not too fond of Sibelius myself.
I like Finale better 😂😂😂
