G. Schirmer Concert Band - Grade 5
Written in a romantic/heroic style, this impressive overture from Rossano Galante features sweeping and lush melodies along with brilliant brass fanfares and woodwind flourishes. For the mature ensemble, here is a dynamic concert opener.

The 22 dislikes are from the bands that cannot play it
As well as Bongo and Ken. They hated this because they didn’t have any Bongos.
It’s hard to dislike any rossano galante piece
I have such a strong memory of absolutely stomping this score with the Halton Senior Winds in 2008 or so. Since then, I've really just not played music much at all, but hearing this just immediately put me back there. Loved playing it!
My pre-school played this and won gold at nationals!
Lmao. Good one
Lol
I feel like this is true if it's a Japanese preschool
@@albertkia2257 it is
You gotta tell
Me how to play 4:44
This is my favorite band arrangement of all time, I first listened to this recording while trippin on lsd in 10th grade 😂. This song will always remind be of the beginning of my spiritual journey and my first wind ensemble concert. I played this in wind ensemble the same year too, I also had a short solo in it. This song is just so epic…
why tf were you taking lsd as a sophomore
@@jkuli5314Don't do drugs kids
@@jkuli5314 yeah that's absurd
I feel like a lot Rossano Galante's charts sound the same... but like... when you write like this, who the fuck cares; this is incredible!
His pieces are all very similar, as many composers do have their own styles and quirks that will occasionally deviate but stay true to his/her character
lmao true true
well the woodwinds didn't trill in the opener so there's that lol
his style reminds me of Michael Giacchino and John Williams
@@GiordanDiodatothis piece reminds me of James Horner. Especially the opening.
Yes! They finally uploaded this! I love it!
That oboe solo gives me chills every time
M m my GTG

This piece is just so well written and sounds so great when played well
I get “ back to the future vibes from listening to this”
lots of woodwindy type stuff in this piece ❤
FINALLY THE SCOREEE
Syifa Flutist I am a flute player and my name is jasmine Neely Garcia and I go to highland high school
Isabel Neely I play clarinet and I go to Gloucester High School Virginia
This man is amazing
I've been on 1st trombone for 3 years now and I'm switching to Bass Trombone for this piece. Gotta love the triplet pedal Bb's 😂, especially when I've played stuff 3 octaves higher
I played that with the brass orchestra year before the pandemic began
5:18 rip 1st or 2nd trumpet blat XD
F
At least it kind of fit in with the part and wasn’t too noticeable
The trumpets crack a lot of notes in this performance lol
If John Williams wrote for band, this is what it probably would sound like.
And he doesn't?
Braden Cutright-Head In case you were unaware, he does. LOL.
4:32-4:40 sounds a Lot like that part from “The Falls”
Luis Martinez exactly what i thought! The slap stick is what really made it sound the same, lol!
0:28 = Star Trek III (James Horner) :P
The piccolo played more than I am used to seeing in his scores. Too bad no Eb clarinet
1:44 Afterlife by Rossano Galante ?
1000th like
0:34-0:46 How the Hell Do they tongue that fast?! 0:28-0:30 too
Luis Martinez if you think that’s tough, listen to the opening sequence of “The Cowboys” by John Williams, I’m a trumpet but I’m nowhere near nailing that down
That must be hell. As a trumpet and Flute player
RIGHT?? I play first clarinet on it and it's so difficult to tongue that fast. But I eventually got the hang of it.
Now they should do Mt. Everest by this composer
It is buddy.
Where is my Bass Trombone and Euphonium gang!?
カット 1:11 4:58
Style à mon goût. Bien ROMUALD.
4:44 I still don’t know how to play this I need answers this is the only part I’m stuck on
What about it are you stuck on?
clarinets :)))
Quentin Williams I love the fact that I picked clarinet 5-6 years ago as my main instrument! Clarinets are my favorite sound next to french horn and flute in band.
+Jamie cook oh wow that's nice to know . I love playing the clarinet and this music is very challenging for clarinet and it makes me want to get even better at it .
Euphos are pretty cool too... So are bass trombones lol
Quentin Williams I gotchu! I played this in March under Dr. Peter Boonshaft!
Horns at mm. 143 - 146 🎼

Is there any way I can get a pdf to be able to zoom in.
lol no you are supposed to buy it.
Oh. Thanks anyways. I was trying to zoom in a certain part because I'm attempting to write a marching show for fun.
Kevin Mendoza you could always screenshot i. 1080p and try to upscale it with a program like Waifu2x
Never seen a piece with a solo for 3rd trumpet
There was one? I didn’t see it. Could you put the time stamp?
2:43
DuckMaster Whoa
What band is playing this?
I played this for All-State back in high school
@@michaeldenise1984 it sucked ass, I played clarinet for this and they wanted me to double tongue, yeah I couldn’t play this at all

So there’s a bass trombone part AND trombone 3??
Black Toad 😂 exactly
That usually the instrumentation for more upper level pieces. Gotta love a full low brass sound lol
my same reaction lol. They should have optional 4th parts that usually double the tuba or something.
What musical form is this piece in?
ABA?
My name is Donovan and I play the euphonium
196 @ 5:11
They need orchestral version w. Contra, Eupho, Harp, etc.
Euphonium is already here
Obinna Nwakwue But Eupho’s aren’t in orchestral arrangements as much.
I am unable to hear much 1st Trumpet in this recording; mainly 2nd. Why would that be?
To many higher trumpets can over power the rest of the band, so in a usual one you have mostly second and third with a few firsts.
Mitchell Ware This is true, but the point of having more 2nd and 3rd parts is so that it is balanced. The 2nd and 3rds aren't supposed to cover firsts
It has to do with balance. The higher up you go up, the less you need. I could hear the 1st trumpets just fine, but I think the reason you probably aren't "hearing" them is because you are so use to hearing just the 1st and no other trumpets. This is a pretty balanced recording.
There is no audible first trumpet in multiple places, like at at 1:07, 1:20, 1:46, the ending...
It's probably the recording technique. Something as simple as microphone placement, or even the type of microphone.
Are the eighth-note triplets meant to be single or triple tongued?
Kason F I played this on clarinet, so I had to single tongue. It's tough, so if you can triple tongue, go for it
Whatever will get them to come out.
drum :)))))
nani?
This could very well be the new Biden/Harris anthem.
We shouldn’t want to tarnish Rossano Galante’s name

1+2+3 Trumpet nearly the same....boring
He was writing for thirty-four parts, of course a few are similar. There’s also a trumpet 3 solo, which you don’t see much.
