So excited for you and this channel!! We need more black skaters tutorials!! Omg didn’t get to the part where you mentioned you’re still a new skater but excited for your channel regardless!!!
Bauer skates are heat mouldable. They can be heated up to better mould to your foot. Take them to a local ice rink, which often have the oven needed for skates. These skates should not hurt to wear.
I've had the sure grips for about 7 years ($169). I love the inside padding and quite good for what we call rhythm (JB) skating in U.S. About to buy a new upgrade pair, but will not buy anything without the inside padding. I am in the market for my first pair of skates and this was SUPER helpful! I was leaning towards the Rio Rose and this video cemented my interest in them 💖❤️
Good on you for buying stuff from olis, i know them and they are a family run business by a family of skaters and decent people. I skated their sessions every Sunday and can't wait for these stupid covid restrictions to end and for the sessions to resume. I have Bauer NS and I can't get on with them ether, bloody amazing looking boots but they give me horrendous blisters on my ankles and the lack of boot flex does not suit my skating style as I like to have hard bushings and have them tight for speed and rely of upper boot flex to be able to lean in turns but the NS has a boot as stiff as a corpse lol. I the boots i regularly skate on are my 90's bauer turbo and my new supreme turbo which are a clone of the Bauer turbo. Was nice hearing your London accent but it made me homesick, I'm originally from east London but moved out to Salisbury in Wiltshire 9 years ago and it drives me mad living among all these countryside snobs ha ha.
It would be great if these skate influencers would ask companies like Riedell to update their adverts and online presence (Website) to include people of color. For example - The Riedell Roller website has zero african-americans or Latin/Afro-Latin folks. Jam/Rhythm skating has major influences from Hip-Hop/R&B/Disco and many of the innovative challenging moves originate from these communities of color.
Not sure where I put my toe stops! Only used them for about 2 weeks of getting the Rios then removed them. For a while I didn’t replace them with anything. Only recently I put the white plastic jam plug in! Hope that made sense xx
@@lacyladi9951 thank you so much! I’ve had my Rio skates for about 8 months now and rarely skated because I didn’t want to get the front of the skate messed up. You definitely helped my skate journey move forward thank you again!
Yeah I believe Bauer skates come with a sock/boot foam-like liner (in inline and hockey). I've never tried inline or hockey so I don't know the proper name of the boot insole but I've seen videos in which users pull out/replace the insert for various reasons. That's probably what's missing in your skate so you're feeling the discomfort. Check it out . It might be the solution and easy to replace. That's a replaceable & customizable skate boot part (inline/hockey).
Yeah that is what I was trying to describe in another comment I made but didn't know how to word it. I described it as a foam-like sock/boot used in hockey & inline skates.
I really love this video but when I hit the like button it was three 6s and I had to take that like back. But I’m going to need someone else to like this so I can be 667
Hello It was great listening to you talk about your skates. I used to skate in the past and i want to take up skating again. Woulx you recommend going up a size rather than just getting your usual size?
Hey hey, I personally never used them outside but I don’t think they would be great unless the outdoor floor is somewhat smooth. Just to be on the safe side I would get some outdoor wheels but it doesn’t hurt to try em out Xx
Hi. Why dont u stretch the area that hurts on that hockey boot. There are videos where people use a spoon and rock and blowdryer to stretch the particular area that hurts
I recently got my first pair of skates and they are Rios. My toe stops seem to be way too high to comfortably use or walk on... do you have any advice for other than replacing them with new ones? Thanks xx
I’m not too sure about toe stops as I don’t use them but If you’re just looking for larger ones type in large toe stops on google and compare it to the size you have now. Hope that helps? Xx
Hi let me know how you're doing with your Rios? These are my second pair of skates and I hear you about the toe stoppers. So different from my other skates. Adjusted them again last night,so fingers crossed.
@@yvonnedaniel1582 hey! I love my Rios so far, and I just got outdoor wheels so I could skate on a trail. I don’t have a need for new toe stoppers yet, but if I go outside more than I’ll probably get a pair or eventually get nicer skates. But as a beginner, I love these skates! :)
2:01 Why would you back cross that fast? 2:11 W- Wh- Why bounce like that!? Guess I need to practice that kind of movement; it's probably really fun. 😳
The backwards cross is called chopping and normally done fast . I will be doing a video on that with some more experienced skaters cus clearly I can’t do it LOL and the second drop was unexplainable, I dunno what happened 🤷🏾♀️
@@techietech6001 Oh, interesting. I don't back cross much at all; I'm a "pulse pusher." I feel that it lets me change directions more easily and I can still lean deep without locking my legs up. The cross looks like it draws out more power since you can use both legs. Pulse pushing only uses one.
@@ayyskates update! I found my size! However I decided to re watch the review on the Rio and you say it’s for indoor only! And I don’t feel like spending extra just for wheels. Sigh. So my search continues 😖😖😖
Well It really depends on whether you have indoor wheels or outdoor wheels tbh. Rio rollers come with indoor wheels so I assume they were intended to be worn indoors. Also the material they're made with isn't the best for outdoors and are more likely wear and tear quicker, however, they can definitely been worn outdoor if you choose to wear them. As long as you have outdoor wheels then I suppose any 'Indoor' skates can be worn! Xx
I'm low-key interested in getting ceramic bearings to replace the metal ones I'm rolling. Can you tell me more about the experience? how it's different from metal bearings? Also, swap em out! There's no point in having bearings in a skate you don't roll [outdoors].
@@ayyskates I was thinking to put the ceramic bearings in skates that you're actually going to roll. (I don't think it really matters which one you switch to; as long as you try both setups.) Most people roll metal bearings and don't have experience rolling ceramic ones. Since you have both it would be valuable to hear if you can tell if there's a significant difference (in the long term) for rolling one versus the other.
Oh yh , this video is a tad bit outdated because im currently using my ceramics in my Bauers and Rio's (Whichever one im wearing at the time!) but yeah i'll deffo do a video on the difference !

When you jumped, you froze up and didn't bend your knees enough on the landing. That is why you fell. Edea skate boots are the best you can get. Very expensive, very light and take no time to break in. Pair that with the Roll Line plate and you will notice the difference when you skate.
