Video: Do you want to do derby skating, jam skating, rhythmic skating, artistic skating, jb skating, trucking, or footwork? Me: I just want to do skating.. 😅
"And with my five months, that basically makes me a master..." omg I love a good, dry sense of humor! lol Love it! But in all seriousness, this was a really helpful guide. I feel like advanced skaters won't give cheaper skates a fair chance, and I felt like you gave a really fair review and pointed out that if you're trying it out or not ready to upgrade, there's nothing wrong with sticking to what you have. Thank you for pointing out that the Moonboots are black owned! When I'm ready(: to upgrade my Bunnies, I'll have those on the top of my list!
In the skate world, there is a VAST difference between "cheap" and "inexpensive". Skating for 47 years and having over 20 pairs myself, all of mine are the inexpensive to moderate prices (none of mine are more than $350, cheapest was originally $85, that I got on sale for just $62). Definitely go for those cheapER skates, just make sure they're not CHEAP skates. Skip any listed as "Double Row Roller Skates", "Side by Side Skates", etc. or ones that don't have a specific brand listed...and even if they DO have a brand listed, investigate that company! C-7's are great for beginners, and usually only around $80-$120. Epic brand...I LOVE my Epic Nitro's...4 years of use, including rink, outdoor, and a season of derby!)...are around around the same price point (specifically, the Nitro's typically run around $80-$95). Most known brands (Riedell, Sure-Grip, Chaya) have many models from inexpensive to YIKES!...but even their inexpensive ones are still stable, sturdy, and reliable for beginners. Once you learn to roll, have a good grasp on a couple methods of stopping, and maybe backward skating and/or a couple "basic" tricks (if you want to go beyond "just the fun of rolling"), you'll definitely want to upgrade, though...be it the wheels, stops, or boots...if not the full skate itself.
Thank you 😭I’ve been searching for some skates because I wanted to get into the hobby but I didn’t want to spend 200+ for some skates I wouldn’t even be able to use good. They nitros seem like a wonderful choice and honestly could last me years. Thank you for the advice
Can you be my friend?!??? I'm serious! I have ADHD and have started so many freaking hobbies... Got ukeleles, knitting stuff, swim stuff, etc etc. Two weeks ago it was banjo then it was bass guitar... but now it's skating. I have very fond memories of skating as a teenager and I was decent too!!!!
Oh my god me too!! I'm decent enough to where it gets me by and I can enjoy it, but man do I go through hobbies all the time. Never bad to learn too much I guess lol
Hello friends: I love Moonlights, but I can't in good conscience recommend them right now because I am not sure when you will receive them. My next top pick is for Beach Bunnies if youre new.

Bahahahahha, I was 25 seconds into the video thinking '5 months? 3 pairs. Damn, I smell ADHD'. It's far too easy to recognize us from little things like this. ADHD here too. Can relate so much. I was on the second pair two months in. Now it's ~10 months 4 pairs of skates, 5 sets of wheels & more knowledge on bearings/cushions/assorted accessories than necessary :D
Do I have ADHD? I buy multiple of everything that I like, I’m yet to skate and actually say I can skate, yet I just purchased skate number 4 Impala Plum New Release. I do want to learn so badly but the weather set me off as I started my 1st pair collecting last November 2020. I’m 44 but I’m sure if I had a coach nearby I would be a pro at skating, its been a dream hobby since I was a small child.
I feel this. I just impulsively blew my paycheck on skates, pads, and a helmet, and I haven't roller skated in 8 years 😂 On the right side, this should hopefully occupy me for the summer, so it's a better obsession than video games
I literally saw a video on Instagram of a beautiful girl dancing in skates and all of a sudden my head went like : I NEED TO DO THIS. Guess what? Came here by accidant, looked through your channel, and found out it was actually you! :ooo This is a sign from the universe, I really have to start this hobby. :OOO THANKYOU girl you are awesome! May I ask what type of skating you are doing in your short videos? Looks so much fun!
OMG! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL! 💕 I just this month caught a few videos on people SKATING at the roller rink! I had no idea people still went skating anymore... WOW! I miss skating. My brothers are into skateboards and by then my skates had been put up YEARS AGO, so it never dawned on me all the types of wheels and everything. Somebody gave me a used beat up pair of skates when I was younger, boots, heavy, probably indoor wheels, I can't remember. I used to tear it UP on my block. I NEED to do this again. So this is one of the BEST videos I have watched thus far. You really take your time and go into details and the fact you made me rethink purchasing a pair of expensive skates is a plus. I currently have the Impala Marawa Rose Gold. I caught skates on sale in Dec. for $44.00 and some change so hey I was thrilled as a beginner. I will keep using what I have and working on my form for a few more months before moving onto the more expensive brands. I appreciate this so so so much! I am going to be updating my skate content over the next few weeks so keep an eye out and let me know if there is anything specific you’d like to see. How are you liking skating so far?
@@DasiaDoesIt I am loving skating again and I go at least 3-4 times a week. I am having problems learning how to stop and have watched several videos on the plow method but for whatever reason I continue to roll once I bring my feet in. I would love to see you provide techniques on stopping. Good thing I skate outside in an open area so I can plunge into the grass....LOL but that's getting old.
@@DasiaDoesItHello, I don’t know why your videos came across my feed. But I’m glad you did. I am sixty-one years young, trying to get my groove on. I was forty so twenty years or so years ago. Anyway, I bought these skates for about sixty dollars, but the wheels are plastic. I came across a video of women who have same skates. She said they are the worst skates. I agree because you will break your neck. I tried using them a few times, even tried to use them at a skating rink. I can’t even stand without holding onto something. I want to change the wheels, but I don’t know which wheels to buy. Maybe you can do a video on skating wheels for beginners. @@chica-jinx5811 I’m so proud of you for getting back on your skates! I’m assuming you got some of those Chicago ones with the pink wheels maybe? Those were my first too, if so, some of my favorite wheels are the Luminous Wheels! They are a great hybrid wheel.❤️
I've owned a variation of all 3 of these boots. the moxi lolly are my favorite beacuse of the plate, but the moon boot are so nice too. I just gave my bunnies away to a friend.

I too have champagne taste on beer money lol. I just ordered a pair of Impalas and I'm super excited to finally learn how to skate. In the meantime while I learn I'd like to start saving for something like Moxy or Moonlight skates. I've also ordered gummy wheels and all the tools to change them along jam plugs so when I'm read to take those steps I already have everything. This was super helpful and I'll definitely be coming back to it in the future. Thanks for taking the time to share this!
the creese is because they are laced up wrong hon, i hope it helps. I'm not a fan of outdoor skating but thanks for that tip anyways if i do decide to " when not in use, take laces down and let tongues out to air out. as we sweat when we skate, to keep them from dry rotting, or molding set tongues out and leave out of your bag, unlace and let them air out!
Skating style? I just want to not be scared of having them on. I got cheap skates but don’t think they’re helping me. I listed them for sale $60, and that may be too high. Great video. Thank you. I didn’t realize the Lolly was faster! Maybe I should try a Beach Bunny. AWWW CUTE CAT IN VIDEO. HI KITTY.
It’s funny because Im watching your video to understand what I need to know before I buy my first pair not even knowing that you are the same girl who inspired me to even do this in the first place on Instagram lol I noticed once I clicked ur Instagram link 🥰 thank you for your videos ✨
I have been roller blading and much prefer it from past experiences. But I never felt I gave skating a fair chance and I wasn't uncomfortable on them I just felt blading was easier. Now that I'm older, I've been wanting to skate, so I bought a beginner pair of skates for half off and they are shoes that are sold at some skate shops. For 60 bucks half off, I know they're not the best but they will allow me to practice on quad skates and if I don't like it, I don't have to continue. 60 dollars is not going to break the bank. I look forward to practicing on them and making a decision on what I enjoy. If I find that I like skating and blading equally but for different reasons, then at least I can decide between the two on a whim when I get better skates.
Yoooo adhd too. I booked two flights for tuesday to make my way up to one of our major cities just to get fitted right for my new skates for my new hobby. That adhd COMMIT to a new interest is crazyyy
I was considering the moxi beach bunnies but im so dang indecisive 🤣 and i think i’ll go ahead and go for the moonlight ones with the luminous wheelss 🥰
I am so excited to purchase a pair when I have a little more money at the end of this month 🥺😍 (student things) Also I am from Germany and here roller skates are not that much in hype, but inline skates. Very much excited to try something new and find a hobby for a healthy work life balance as I am a lazy potato ✨✨✨ Thank you got the helpful tips! 🥰
Hey, I’m also from Germany ☺️ Just gonna ask, where do you skate? Do you have a rink or a skate park nearby? Or did you find the perfect empty parking lot? Just curious, to be honest 😅
Dasia! 1.) Thank you so much for this video! 2.) have you ever considered making ASMR videos? Your voice sent me Into instant relaxation! On top of that when you added you coffee pouring edit 😮💨. NOT TO MENTION the British accent 😂 anyway please consider 🥺
Lol 😂 ADHD as well... compulsively purchased my first set of skates... derby. Only to find out a week later I really should have put more thought into getting the right boots for comfort and dancing. ... and it's time to upgrade ... lol is 2 weeks to soon to spring for the lolly 🤣 . Nashville here also.
1:06 GIRL. the adhd thing is so real. i don't necessarily aggressively pursue to the point of being sick of it but i do an info run like MAD and just suck in all sorts of deets, history, mechanics, research, etc etc (so become a quasi expert in whatever). also looking at your 2 guitars.... i started and then bought SO MANY. couldn't stop. (artist thing, partly). and then i started skateboarding and bought 2, and trying not to buy a 3rd. mentality is "but how do i KNOW stuff without really exploring the nuances????! i'll get 3 diff board setups, diff trucks, and later will know what i like if/when upgrade, since completes are cheaper. and what if some are easier than others to start on?" ......... yeah, it's a problem. but only because money and space are finite.
Thanks for your sensible take on skate choice. Sixty years ago, when I was ten years old, I learned how to roller skate. I skated every time I had the chance until I got my first drum set. And that put an end to skating. That happened around age 12 and I never put on a pair of skates again. About a week ago I saw a pair of Bont quads on Amazon and it sparked an old flame. They were flats, had good reviews and affordable. I ordered a pair and now brimming with excitement waiting for its arrival. Also wondering if I can pick up old skills where I left off like cycling. I'm physically active riding a fixie and that should suffice for the stamina required to skate. There's a covered basketball court that is seldom used a few steps away from where I live and that will be my venue to reacquaint myself.
Thank you for this content! For those of us buying skates for kiddos we know will grown out of the skates in 1 year, what are fun upgrades we can make to kids skates? Better wheels? Lights? I haven’t been to a rink in 30 years; do skaters still add skate poms? Fun laces? Are there laces we should avoid? Can we loosen wheels on kids skates if the wheels don’t spin well? I want to make sure my daughter has fun and can express herself while skating.
OMG YOU ARE AMAZING HAHAHAHA I love your energy & this video!!! Totally relate to buying multiple skates thanks to adhd getting you deep into hobbies!!!
Omg same! I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I have ADHD too and I've been really wanting to start roller skating, it's just that I don't wanna spend so much money on something I'm not sure I'll stick to 😅
This was my dilemma! It's understandable, the only thing I will say is avoid those easy 50$ chicago skates because they will have you thinking that skating isnt for you and you won't stick to it at all lol.
I adore I bought my moxy beach bunnies for my bday🎉🎉cross fingers they’re comfy ! I skated earlier in life but my Cuban butt is getting ready to skate again! 🎉 I saved alot of your videos I love ya!i just bought the same ones.
Watched your 3 videos already for skating as a beginner, got goosebumps when you mentioned ADHD, same here. And you are. Potter head as well. Love your mug ✨ thanks for the recommendations, need to really choose my first roller skates soon ⭐️❤️ - Mel here
Just found your channel - love your personality - i hope you keep on making videos, regardless of the topic they are on - dope vibes, good energy - easy to listen to
I have been skating for a year and got a generic skate that I love but is coming apart now lol. I am looking to upgrade and have had my eyes on the moon boot, but was concerned that my ankles were maybe not strong enough. Your video helped ease my concerns. 😀
Hello I have recently been thinking about starting roller skating and I was hoping to skate outside, do I need outside wheels and what exactly are they.
Thank you i purchase Vnla luna fame indoor skates, My second pair , I fall in love with the Vnla i more of a jam skater , slow but with a beat , my wheels are 57/ 97a and the wheels are sluggish ,i visit several rinks and the same problem, $224.00 i think was decent for skate however I'm very disappointed in my wheels and my eyelet came off the first day I brought them
Love the cup, I've skated over 41 years of skating but still enjoying other types, i hope it's, ok?.. I'm currently debating on type of boots, but not sure, i am also a finicky skater, so i am funny (Picky Of my type of skate boots)
I learned to skate when I was in my home contry, back in Angola but know I live in europe and I am really needing something to get me into moving my body more frequently. I learnt to skate with rollerblades but now I want to try rollerskates, I did use one, one time, but I didnt like it cause compared to rollerblades, they are very heavy, but im gonna buy new ones this christmas and I am so exciteddddd
I have the same problem when it comes to my ADHD and when skating I would get me something new like the covers that go over the skate or new accessories so I'm not dropping $200 to $300 a month on a new pair of skates.
I want to order the Lollys and I kept telling myself I shouldn’t because I am only skating for two months… but then the skates I currently own are impalas. And every time I put them on and try spinning and tricks on them I just hate the feeling of the stiff boot and it’s more like I am working against the skates than with them. So I finally got myself to look up an online store and though the price of the boots with fundae wheels has me in tears I’ll likely order them soon.
I don’t think you should feel bad about ordering the lollys. They were my first, and only skate I have bought, and I look at it like a life investment. I don’t think I will buy another skate, I’ll just keep upgrading my skates when the time comes. The lollys are amazing, and I love how unsupportive they are ironically. I hope you love them when you get them!
Hello!! I am practicing the JB skate style here in Chicago and I’ve been using the rentals for too long. Everyones been recommending me the Riedell 120 or 220 skates but those are $$$! Have you tried those? And yes I have adhd too lmao, facts on always on the new interests haha
I got some Sure Grip 1300s (Boardwalks with the metal plate) and some Riedell 130s used from eBay. The boots seem to be in mint condition on both. One is just dried out and water-stained. They both look as if they might’ve been worn only once and then stashed in a garage. They have no creases, no stretching, or anything. The wheels on that dry one are a little worn, though, and it has no insoles. The stopper on the one with no stains and both insoles didn’t want to stop. I couldn’t T-stop either. The stopper and wheels look new, though. Or they did til I skated in them. Do wheels and stoppers dry rot with age like car tires do? And where can I get skate insoles? Amazon keeps pulling up regular shoe insoles. The ones I bought were far too thick and smushed my foot.
😍 Loved finding this video because it had information I needed from someone like me. 🙏🏾 It sounds like you like the moonlight boot but not the hardware that it comes stock with. How much does it cost to swap out the wheels? I bought some Riedell suede boots (I'm a women's 11.5) that I love because the come in a wider width (D) and compared to vinyl and leather - they felt cool in temperature and comfortable immediately! I need the "butter" light up wheels!
Dang everybody in the comments are fresh. Almost thought the video dropped last week! What's your assistants name 🧐 The split second of her beauty was too enticing
Heyy! When you talk about "style of skating", do you mean this for people who are looking do do roller skating professionally? Like what do you recommend if I'm just looking for a bit of fun like just to go roller skating with my friends or at a roller rink, what skating style would that be considered? (sorry if you are confused I don't really know how to explain/phrase my question)
i don't use tiktok or instagram, but youtube starting showing me your videos and i'm mildly interested in it because it looks cool but i don't think i'll actually do it myself 😭
Video: Do you want to do derby skating, jam skating, rhythmic skating, artistic skating, jb skating, trucking, or footwork?
Me: I just want to do skating.. 😅
Lol I literally said the same because I had noooooooooooo idea there were different styles minus derby

That's awesome! I love this! Thank you, I'm super excited for you to start!
You screaaaam earth sign. I’m Virgo. I must know at this point.
You're beautiful, I love you. Thx for being such a good person and helpful. I'm buying skates after 20yrs hiatus 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I loved chillin with you in your comfy space, Thanks. I'm going to purchase Moxi lollys because the Suede is too beautiful.. expensive taste lol
(artist thing, partly). and then i started skateboarding and bought 2, and trying not to buy a 3rd. mentality is "but how do i KNOW stuff without really exploring the nuances????! i'll get 3 diff board setups, diff trucks, and later will know what i like if/when upgrade, since completes are cheaper. and what if some are easier than others to start on?"
......... yeah, it's a problem. but only because money and space are finite.
I love the cat tail!! You can tell they’re a happy baby ❤
Oh my gosh ..i am totally loving this awesome lady!!! 👌
Oh and the cat tail!! 🐈
🎉 I saved alot of your videos I love ya!i just bought the same ones.
ur voice is so nice to listen to!! and ur so pretty omg
I really enjoyed this video, you spoke on things I had questions about, besides sizing which is ok, thanks for sharing!!
Thank you, soooo helpful and you were so fun to watch!!!
Watched your 3 videos already for skating as a beginner, got goosebumps when you mentioned ADHD, same here. And you are. Potter head as well. Love your mug ✨ thanks for the recommendations, need to really choose my first roller skates soon ⭐️❤️ - Mel here
Im so so glad! Hello fellow adhd potterhead. 😍I’m actually dropping some really helpful ones in the upcoming week. So glad you’re here Mel!!
Hahaha, I love your sense of humor 😂 Thanks for sharing your experience! Greetings from Germany 🙋🏼♀️
I do want to see the video about the wheels and type of stopers 🥺
Love it. I've been torn between moon boots and moxi. Where did you get the luminous wheels?.
I know this is an old comment but you can find them on the moonlight roller website
Just found your channel - love your personality - i hope you keep on making videos, regardless of the topic they are on - dope vibes, good energy - easy to listen to
🥹 thank you so much
I want to do the backwards walk thing. That was the video. Now I’m here because my skates are otw and I’m nervous
I love your sense of humor. Thank you for your knowledge 😇
hahah that cat is flapping her tail so much. what a cute kitty
Watching your excellent video and hearing you talk about buying within budget… but also drooling over those blue lollys…
I have been skating for a year and got a generic skate that I love but is coming apart now lol. I am looking to upgrade and have had my eyes on the moon boot, but was concerned that my ankles were maybe not strong enough. Your video helped ease my concerns. 😀
Thank you so much, you killed this- wonderful vid with so much insight and yo cat is so faaaat too cute
Can you explain more about your moonlight skates? How do you change the plates?
I absolutely love your vibe. You have a new subscriber 🥰
Hello I have recently been thinking about starting roller skating and I was hoping to skate outside, do I need outside wheels and what exactly are they.
Thank you i purchase Vnla luna fame indoor skates, My second pair , I fall in love with the Vnla i more of a jam skater , slow but with a beat , my wheels are 57/ 97a and the wheels are sluggish ,i visit several rinks and the same problem, $224.00 i think was decent for skate however I'm very disappointed in my wheels and my eyelet came off the first day I brought them
I live in Nashville, too! Just ordered some skates so I can hit the Greenways now that it’s nice outside 😌🤩🥳
I would love to know the link to the luminous wheels!! Ty
I love herrrrrr!!!❤🩷🩵💜🥰
I’m here bcz I need to learn about skates, but also you so pretty!
Thanks for being here! I'm so excited for you to give rollerskating another try.
Can i order skates online as a first time purchaser or do i have to go try skates on?
Thank you for the info! Plus your roller skates are so pretty!
Best review I have seen!!!!
This helped so much! Thank you.
Thank you dear
Hello!! I am practicing the JB skate style here in Chicago and I’ve been using the rentals for too long. Everyones been recommending me the Riedell 120 or 220 skates but those are $$$! Have you tried those? And yes I have adhd too lmao, facts on always on the new interests haha
Oooo shinyyy :D love your playful energy xo
This was helpful! I’m in Nashville and just got my first skates.
I need the "butter" light up wheels!
needed this video!
Now I regret getting the hard boot. I want the lollis 😢
so how do we put you on everybody's recommended? I mean that's the only really helpful vid on -my FISRT roller skates-
I literally yelled out "YAYYYY" after she made the adhd obsessive comment- ive never trusted more in a stranger nor felt as seen as i do right now
Subbed immediately!! Love this video
Obsessive with new hobbies is also me. All day. Until, I move on to the next one in short order.
Dang everybody in the comments are fresh. Almost thought the video dropped last week! What's your assistants name 🧐 The split second of her beauty was too enticing
Haha her name is Nymeria.
super great advice
"Don't be weird Dasia." 🤣
And somehow, by chance, I find you on here. I love your Instagram page ♡
Really liked this video :)
my adhd has me doing the same thing girl 😭
Awesome video. Thanks luv 😊
Can you Please do a review on Melrose Deluxe Roller Skates
I wish Moonlight Roller was still in business!
I feel like ur so cute
NASHVILLE TN WE ROLLING
Heyy! When you talk about "style of skating", do you mean this for people who are looking do do roller skating professionally? Like what do you recommend if I'm just looking for a bit of fun like just to go roller skating with my friends or at a roller rink, what skating style would that be considered? (sorry if you are confused I don't really know how to explain/phrase my question)
when buying regular skates vs figure boots, do you go by shoe size? i'm that way with comfort, my boots are too small ( Artistic Dance Boots)
I like your mug
i don't use tiktok or instagram, but youtube starting showing me your videos and i'm mildly interested in it because it looks cool but i don't think i'll actually do it myself 😭
