Thank you, Brian! I always enjoy your work especially your “special” in-depth reviews and stories like this one. The under water shots are phenomenal. I felt like I was there with you at times. I’ve dived and snorkeled coral reefs and I’m not sure if I ever saw things quite so clearly as you show here in these videos. Great job!!
Thanks Brian for this review. It’s the best one for me so far. It’s great you tested the Ultra on real life experiences. It’s one thing to talk about it. It’s another level when you do it for real.
Great video again! I love my ultra. The battery life is number one for me. Number two is the screen. This is the first Apple Watch I have owned where I don’t have scratches and dings from hitting it on door knobs and kitchen countertops. The flat screen and raised edge is perfect. Number three is the action button. I use that to control my most common lights in the living room. Use it everyday multiple times a day. Again great video Brian
Great review. But for those wondering, you can absolutely use the Ultra as your daily driver. I have way too many bands that I’ve collected over the years, and they all work well on the Ultra. The one exception would be polished stainless steel bands. Don’t use those. But titanium looks amazing on it, as do some of the wider leather bands. I’ve even worn the watch with suits and managed to get it to look good. Because, when it comes down to it, Brian, not all of us can afford to be the badass Apple you are and rock our choice of two different Apple Watches.
Love my ULTRA! Added a metal band and it’s absolutely comfortable. I’m able to get over 4 days of battery life, and the large screen is amazing. If I could make one change, it would be pushing the usable screen area out to the edge of the titanium frame. The bezel when combined with that thick protection that the case offers is unnecessary in my opinion. I would love a full screen. But yes, six months in with the Ultra has been a game changer.
Absolutely comfortable? 🤔 and OVER 4 days? U a damn lie 😂 😂 😂. Apple doesn’t even say that’s possible . 72 is the MAX and u can only maybe reach that with low power mode on . 🧢 tain
@@LaymanGamin Actually it’s super-easy, barely an inconvenience. You see, I do not sleep in my watch. I do however turn it off when I go to bed. I’m actually on day five currently, and I have 27%. Yes I may cheat, but for functionality I get the most usage out of when I want and need to have power available. And salute when you call me 🧢 tain!
Love this video, Brian! I miss your *prizefight* videos from your prior life. Yeah, I’ve gone from a Series 3 to 7 and now the Ultra. I’ve always waited for the prices to go down 3-6 months later, and never paid the MSRP on 1st day of its release. I’ve also always chosen the Cellular version on all the watches.
I wear my ULTRA all the time & I agree the battery life & brightness are the real 2 differences from a series 8. I used it on a 2 week diving holiday and the Oceanic app is terrible (it didn’t record 2 of my dives - that’s a disaster and have never had that with any dive computer before.) To be clear that’s the app’s fault not the watch. The app is like beta v 0.1a. And they have the audacity to charge $10 PER MONTH!!! Such a pity Apple didn’t force a decent app to be built because it really devalues all their marketing.
I only have the ultra and I used everyday. I feel it more comfortable than my previews series 7. Love the battery life, no more worries about battery life. I mainly use the ocean band compared with the others, I feel it more confortable.
Great video..been testing mines without using the workout feature other than walking feature and heart rate monitoring and the results so far: charged 100% Monday(3-20-23@9am )and currently as of right now (Wed.3-22-23@5:23pm its at 67% at this rate i'll most likely get at least another 1 - 1 1/2 days before it needs a full charge ! will keep you posted as to when exactly it goes out
i really appreciate brian’s delivery on apple content. Truly one of the more underrated RUclipsr out there. No cliche, straight to the point and a sunshine personality. Keep at it, Brian !
Yea I’m one of the watch wearer’s that has started out with the SE then went to a series 7, then when the Ultra came out went ahead and grabbed one. It was mainly because of the battery life. I like to track my sleep and get in a good workout a day and not have to worry about finding time to put it on the charger all the time. That was always something in the back of my mind when owning the previous watches in the past. Thanks for sharing the video this was awesome to see some real world testing and amazing scenery as well. Look forward to the next video. Thanks again 🤙
I had the Apple watch 3 and have been waiting for a bigger screen for so long. As soon as they were available I bought my Apple watch Ultra and love it. The bigger screen is so much better and brighter as my eyes are that good anymore. So for me It was all about the size and screen brightness.
Still rocking my Series 4 Nike Edition. Thought about getting this one. But honestly, do I really need it? Or just want it? Probably I’ll keep the Series 4 till it dies.
Brian this ultra being my third Apple Watch and coming from the stainless steel graphite series 6. I hands down would recommend the ultra and spend the extra just for the great battery and durability. Anyways that’s my 2 cents. Great video
I ordered mine when it first came out. Been very happy with it. Battery life is always dependent upon your use case. Mine… - I don’t connect to cellular. - I reply to texts on occasion, using speech recognition. - I sleep with it, and use sleep monitoring. - Set multiple timers ⏲️ - I shower with it, and use the water ejection feature after. (Daily) - All the health monitoring is enabled. I average 3 to 4 days per charge. When I accidentally bang it into a wall I check the wall for damage, not the Apple Watch. Love the battery life, love its durability, love that it still works with all my older watch bands. Love the display. Would buy again. By far my favorite watch.
I was looking at the ultra in January my series 5 was looking a bit ruff but my wife surprised me on my birthday with an ultra the battery and durability is remarkable
I like my ultra a lot. The only thing is I can never get it to charge to optimized charge limit. It always charges to 100%. I hope that’s not messing with life of the battery.
I have the Watch Ultra with the Ocean Band and thats a beast!!! I’ve noticed that, using Snorkeling with the Oceanic application, even if it is free, you still have the compass visible on the screen! Very extensive video!
Great review! Poor sea turtle looked like it had a net stuck on that shoulder. So to get to what you are looking for in the comments, I'm using an aluminum Series 8 for general stuff (and for workout tracking), and switch over to my old Series 6 for nighttime sleep tracking. I think about the Ultra, but I'm actually happy with what I currently have. I'll upgrade at some point when there's a significant difference or upgrade that I consider worth the cost.
Thank you for testing it out and really give a detail in depth review Brian! I still have my Apple Watch 4 and it’s still going strong. However,I got into marathon training the past year and I don’t know if the Apple Watch 4 could last a full marathon. I only have gone up to 20 miles run with it and it’s already down to 20% so yes I’m still debating on getting the Ultra before my first marathon race. FYI, I do run with a Garmin also but I like to fill out those rings and compete with my friends, so I can’t leave my Apple Watch behind.

Favorite parts about my Ultra is the durability and battery life. As someone who works in an industrial kitchen, mountain bikes & does his own handy man tasks at home, this watch puts the rest to shame. I find it fascinating that anyone would even want the others unless you spend all day indoors. The glass durability of moving up the watch to the stainless or now dead titanium was a MUST.

Question on the bands. Can the Alpine band handle the rigors of salt water or is it best to use the ocean band because it fastens more securely? Wondering since the bands are pricey if I should just go with an ocean band and know it will be more secure all of the time.
i had the Ultra, but switched down to 8 45mm aluminium midnight. I just like the design better on the normal S8 and how it wears, but the battery on the ultra was great, it lasted 3 full days. But my work and beatup watch stays my Garmin Tactix Delta Solar. awesome video, keep on the great work.

this is the best review, and 6 month later recap, of the Apple Watch ultra. I currently use a garmin instinct.., I bought my watch an Apple Watch SE, it’s all she needs. I may get one as well.., but I may just get another garmin. Again, great job with this
I have the series 4 and tonight my watch just dipped to 10% battery life. Says there’s an issue and needs service. Battery life is important so I’m most likely getting the ultra soon.
Im in the market for an upgrade this year from a series 4. I popped into the Apple store the other day and tried an ultra on. My god its massive!! Im coming from a small series 4 due to my smaller wrists.
I did, but what could I do? I had no tools, and I didn't want to injure it even more. Also, you're not supposed to touch turtles. It was very tangled and had already cut into him/her. I didn't want to do even more damage and it was at least safe in the Bay from major predators.
The amount of time and effort that was put into this test is unmatched. Reminds me of your ~hour long AirPods Max video.
Great job as always Brian.

I can get four days on a single charge with the Apple Watch ultra
I can’t, what’s the secret?
But then your not working out and playing music only from the watch and maybe your limited the number of GPS reading it does

I get 3 days with the AOD off. That’s with about a 1 hour workout each day

Im in the market for an upgrade this year from a series 4. I popped into the Apple store the other day and tried an ultra on. My god its massive!! Im coming from a small series 4 due to my smaller wrists.
Great video.. but you seriously didn’t see the fishing line on the turtle?
I did, but what could I do? I had no tools, and I didn't want to injure it even more. Also, you're not supposed to touch turtles. It was very tangled and had already cut into him/her. I didn't want to do even more damage and it was at least safe in the Bay from major predators.
Bro the dawgs at 16:01.
Great review
