Great video thanks for the tips changing the grounding clamp never occurred to me. Going to upgrade mine now. It's a great little welder works fantastic more practice is needed though. Picking up these little tips and tricks of made a big difference. Thanks
Thanks for posting! You did a practical video with really ‘excellent’ tips. I don’t have a welding machine as of yet but planning to buy one soon. I’ve subscribed to your channel and gave it a thumbs up. Also looking forward to view more of your videos to ease my anxiety when learning new skills. 😊
Bought a new ground clamp from Princess Auto on sale for $15, great upgrade. I bought that exact auto darkening helmet from PA for $35. I was a little afraid it would be a piece of crap and blind me, but have been using it for years and it works quite well. Thanks for the info.
A guy advised me to get a really good ground by first clamping vise grips really tightly to the project, then put the welder ground clamp on the vice grips. I'm gonna try it.
Thanks for the great video…. One quick question, if you need to get anither mig nozzle what is the replacement. I don’t need to buy the full master craft kit.
Good simple tips. I'd add one more if and when you cab afford to. As well as the better quality ground clamp get yourself some much heavier gauge cable and connector lugs for each end.
Well you need a regulator, which does not come with most of these MC welders. I dont have any plans of using gas in the future as its one more consumable to worry about.
A better ground clamp is to use a c clamp weld a bolt on it attach ground wire to it with a bolt clamps tighter , we use them at work, 40 plus years as a we.

No problem 👍

Thanks for the feedback and sub. Its just about practice your first welds will look like crap but they improve. Good Luck.

Glad it helped
Wow. What a difference a grounding clamp makes. Thanks!
Thanks. Just starting out hobby welding. Have a garage nearly full of Mastercraft. The nozzle cover on mine looked more like your Lincoln.
Maybe they switched styles. My guess is 90% of people who buy this welder probably only run flux-core and dont bother to hook up gas.

That couldn't hurt... but I find the welders clamp is usually enough.

How you changing the conector lugs to bigger ones tho
theyve got that on sale with the cart and auto darkening visor for $359, are these gas ready?
You would need to buy a regulator... I suggest amazon.
i constant having feed issue with this MC machine.... drive me nuts. Good video and tips!
Check and make sure your using the correct side of the feed roller appropriate to the size wire your using.
What size is that Flux nozzle? I think there are 1/2 and 3/8 available.
Thanks for sharing ...good tips that I will use on my new Matercraft Welder!
Glad to help
I'm an old bubble gummer from wayback, but thanks for the idea about a better ground clamp.
I consider myself to be more of a "wire-monkey". But yeah a good upgrade for sure.
WHat is the size of the tip? Bought 1/2" it doesn't fit. SAme welder but the looks of it.
not sure, I though the flux core tip was universal.
Can you tell me what size tread is on a canadiantire mastercraft mig welder
Got a question will work for aluminum spool for ..30 that master craft welder
I dont think so.
good tips, i have the same unit and just love it.
Glad to help.
Damn your straight up MVP! Have fun on your cars.
Like your video but did you notice the cord is only 15 amp and it recommends to be 20 A to run it properly
Definitely runs better on 20amp… but it will run on 15amp. On a short run I don’t think there is a huge difference between the cords I use.
Thanks for sharing. Super helpful.
Glad to hear. Happy welding!
i wish to see how it does wit gas and how to plumb it rigth

Where are you located? And can I hire you to make a grill for me?
Near Ottawa, Ontario. That said, Im not a pro fabricator
What about changing the polarity to DC Negative? to reduce splatter? Get a cleaner weld.
Pretty sure you would have to run gas for that setup... but not sure. This is the factory recommended setup for fluxcore.
