Hey thanks brother,,, just went and grabbed the same machine for my shop,,, did the initial first set up with the same wire on a brand new machine,,, no instructions needed,,, just ran the virgin bead and she’s runnin nice,,, thanks again 👍🏻
Great video, picked up this welder yesterday and never held one in my hand before, soooo this was very informative for a 70 year old,, now lets do some zapping!!!
im about to weld for the first time in my life and your walking me through how to set up my machine i litterally have the exact same machine got it on sale for 200 bucks
DOH!!!!!! I have this welder and was specifically looking for a vid with someone who did a wire replacement and had some trick to dealing with the spool feed till fully rigged up and ready to use. Then your wire sprung back. All jokes aside, im going to do mine now.thanks for the vid.
Thanks for the video. I haven’t welded in years. I was a certified high pressure pipe welder many years ago, and changed trades. I have always wanted to get back into it as a hobby, and couldn’t pass up the sale at CT. 👍
That is a really good question (maybe an idea for a future video). I do use heavy duty 12g cords, but dont think I have gone much further that 15-20 ft away from a 20amp plug. You will definitely loss some performance/power if using a long cord... but how much I cant really say.
Id recommend you check out my other videos on this welder for more info... But short answer, make sure the ground clamp is attached to your work, you then use the trigger to start the wire feed which will contact your work piece and start the weld arc.
Thank you for this video. So there is a different collar to buy for flux core welding that isn't supplied in the kit? Can the flux core specific collar be purchased from CT also?
Most experienced welders would say you should learn stick-welding first, then move up to MIG. That said, this machine is pretty basic and affordable so I'd say yes its good for beginners. It will run off 15amp...
@@mysteryman32768 I think it is universal. You don’t need the tip for flux core... the included tip works fine too, but is designed for use with shielding gas, so it’s bulky.
yeah thats cold. check the roller to make sure its on the correct side for the wire diameter your using. Also a corroded or dirty tip will cause feed issues.
@@woodsarmoury it’s a brand new welder just got it for Christmas, it almost made it to the tip but got stuck somewhere right before it sadly! I brought it inside to warm up till my heater is fixed in the garage! Love the channel man I just subscribed, if you like off road stuff check mine out 😎
@@BradleyBeeksAdventures this does happen from time to time. I assume you have removed copper tip. Sometimes I have to gently bend the tip of the wire so about an inch or so is perfectly straight.
Yes that is the idea. For stuff that thin you will probably need .23 wire for a good weld... .30 fluxcore wire is going to be tricky. You will wanna practice alot.
Good question. Not sure. I think working in "Inch Per Min" is a little advance for what this unit was designed for. I generally keep my speed set around 6-7
something tells me, the right amount of tension on the spool prevents the spool from uncoiling...just a thought...so, it has to be secured in the other places as well, with more tension than the spool - otherwise it will slip, when pulling forward... reading through the instruction manual...pain in the ass; it's like they're trying to torture you or something...
Its not that hard once you get the hang of it. Get the wire locked between the feed rollers and you are good... I do that first, then worry about getting the spoon nut on.
Grab the spool with one hand so it doesn’t uncoil and cut wire just before feed motor. Wrap some tape around the spool so it doesn’t uncoil. Undo the drive wheels… and pull remaining wire out through the tip of the gun.

Glad to hear.

Thanks! This was a really useful video for us noobs. Have never changed a spool and I really needed to hear this. Cheers!

I just welded up a trailer frame with this mig welder . Great machine without breaking the bank
Thanks brother, definitely a visual learner
Glad it was helpful!
This was a great help, just picked up one of these yesterday morning. Thanks!
No problem... and glad it made sense.
Excellent video you covered everything ,I'm new to mig all I needed was you video Thanks for sharing now a subscriber Thanks Dale
Thanks for the feed back.

What is that red button for that says current on and current off. I just got a mastercraft welder and this video helped alot
Thanks that was great for a first time
There are no comments! Just wanna say PERFECTO, maestro!
Just the video I was looking for.
Good video, thank you for sharing it. Awesome detail, you hit each item for which I was looking for help. I'm subscribing to your channel for sure.
Thanks... check out my vehicle build series to see this welder in action.

What do you recommend for extension cord gage and how long the extension should be before loosing power

Good job 👍
Thanks for the visit
Can you tell me what size tread is on a canadiantire mastercraft mig welder
Helped out allot, I just got 1 of these... thanks budd 👌👌
have you hooked up the gas? i have same welder but was not sure how or what was needed
I have not... but all you need is a regulator (amazon) and a tank of gas.
Have you ever seen need for hooking up gas to this model? (One model down has no hookup for this and cheaper, so just curious). 🇨🇦
My hubby bought the cheapie. Don't confuse him anymore than he already is. 😉
Nice vid, thanks I just got one of these, need to look through the Instructions, step 1
How do you actually turn it on so fire comes out to melt the weld

Very informative and helpful. Thanks
Thank you for this video. So there is a different collar to buy for flux core welding that isn't supplied in the kit? Can the flux core specific collar be purchased from CT also?
I think you can get the tip at CT. PeavyMart and Princess Auto might be options. You can use the standard (included tip) for flux core too
@@woodsarmoury thanks for the reply. I have both those other places mentioned in my area too.
can you run it in 110 volts on a normal household outlet?
Yes it will run on a regular 15amp plug… but 20amp would be better
would you suggest this as a beginner unit? also does it run off of 15amp ?
Most experienced welders would say you should learn stick-welding first, then move up to MIG. That said, this machine is pretty basic and affordable so I'd say yes its good for beginners. It will run off 15amp...
First timer here and the spool uncoiled. Is it possible to use or risk of jamming is too high?
Id remove the outer coils and try to spool the rest and then try it maybe. Ive never had a spool significantly "un-coil" so Im not sure.
Where did you get the nozzle? I bought this welder but didn't come with a nozzle like that
Welding section at CT. Or Peavy mart. It’s for flux core.
Is it a mastercraft nozzle or will a different make work?
@@mysteryman32768 I think it is universal. You don’t need the tip for flux core... the included tip works fine too, but is designed for use with shielding gas, so it’s bulky.
Nice video man, mine keeps jamming up but it’s also -45 here, can’t get my cord straightened out enough 😂

can you put a 10 lb spool on it? because in the manual it says you can put a 4" or 8" size spool, is the 8" the 10 lb spool?
You can put a larger spool on, but not sure of the weight.
So Im guessing for thin metal like 24 gauge I would set on lowest heat, and slow feed🤔

How do I convert Ipm to these speed setting a can’t find anywhere
Good question. Not sure. I think working in "Inch Per Min" is a little advance for what this unit was designed for. I generally keep my speed set around 6-7
Mine is set on full power, with a wire speed at 6 almost all the time... Seems to work for me.
thanks dude...learn a lot...
What about the gas
Thanks for this video
Great thanks
Thanks Man
Dude make a ice fishing video
Well OK then... I will see what I can do.
Have you at least watched all my other ice fishing videos...?

i dont how to take out the excess wire i need to change a new wire

@@woodsarmoury i already figured it out, you need to released the lock on the end then pulled with plier, very simple, thanks
