One of the greatest albums ever made is "Breakfast in America." (1979) by Supertramp. The songs that made a great impact and made this great British band a household name was "The Logical Song," " Goodbye Stranger," "Take the Long Way Home," and "Breakfast in America." Please! go down the rabbit hole that is "Supertramp." Love how excited you both are on the great music from one of the best groups ever.
Hear hear! BUT...I actually think Crime of the Century is a better album. Just an opinion but that's to detract in any way from BiA which is also awesome.
Crime of the Century is one of the best produce albums ever you have dark side of the moon and then crime of the Century. In fact, if you bought a high-end stereo in the 70s early 80s chances are crime of the Century is the album the sales person would put on the demonstrate their system, and if I’m going on a road trip crime of centuries definitely going to be played
It's Raining Again, the song no one ever does! I would add 'Hide In Your Shell' to the list. I saw Roger Hodgson in concert a couple of years ago, I think he did all these. Fabulous concert.
More Supertramp... Please.. I had a musician boyfriend that played Supertramp Non-Stop.. I know all the words to every single song they played... So do some more so I can sing along..
Glad you found Supertramp. Another dozen hits and lots of deep cuts too..."Dreamer"..."Bloody Well Right"..."Give a Little Bit"..."The Logical Song"..."Breakfast in America"..."Take the Long Way Home"..."Oh, Darling"..."It's Raining Again"..."Child of Vision"...(more)
It was the same way back then as it is now , The radio executives had their hands in on who got and did not get Airplay back then as with now , Be cause these type of bands were not considered to be Justin B , Drake type material
Of all the great Supertramp songs out there, this is my all time favorite. The magical sound early, the build, the transitions, the vocals ... it's absolute perfection beginning to end.
Supertramp was a huge group back in the mid to late 70s. They released 4 epic prog rock albums from 1974-79, with the last one, 'Breakfast in America' reaching #1 on the Billboard chart. Soooo many excellent songs: School, Bloody Well Right, Rudy, Hide in Your Shell, Lady, Ain't Nobody But Me, Sister Moonshine, Give a Little Bit, Even in the Quietest Moments, Downstream, Fool's Overture, The Logical Song, Goodbye Stranger, Take the Long Way Home, and Breakfast in America. Additionally, Supertramp released a double live album, 'Paris' in 1980, which celebrated their musical talent and musicianship. An extraordinary group of 5 men that produced some timeless music.
The #1 band worldwide through the 70s. There are so many great Supertramp songs that you must listen to, School, Bloody Well Right, Give a Little Bit, Even in the Quietest Moments, Fool's Overture, From Now On..........
If you dig deeper into Supertramp you will find a gold mine of great songs. Their sound is distinctive but never boring or repetitive. The engineering of every album is outstanding. Been listening to them since the 70s and still love them.
Veteran of exactly, YES EXACTLY, 1010 concerts since 1973. (I have the ticket stubs, the friends, the 2 ex-wives, the many, many battle scars, no not from the exes, but battle scars from some of those concerts I attended, and I also have the 15 billion or so brain cells I murdered partying at these shows to prove it. Come to think about it, I never even gave them poor bastards a proper burial.) Seen pretty much every band imaginable, covering a wide range of genres, in a "live" setting. I like too say, "I've seen everyone from A to Z, "ABBA to Zappa, and every band and artist in between." Till this day, December 3rd, 2021, Supertramps "Breakfast in America" tour, during the year of 1979, is STILL, after all these years, in my top 5 concerts of all time. I was somewhat stunned and totally impressed with how professional and talented the entire band was and how incredible they sounded live. Blew me away. Perfection at its finest. In hindsight though, I wish I didn't murder 2,000,000 of my own brain cells that evening. Smoking some of that, "old school", Columbian Gold and washing down a Quaalude with Jack Daniel's will do that you know. I could have used those brain cells too when decades later I decided, "Yeah, getting married a second time is a real good idea",
Supertramp are a British band from my country - the UK. They moved to America many years ago. They are one of the greatest bands ever produced from the UK.
Nothing better than coming home from a hard days work and watching S&M’s smiling faces react to one of my favourite bands! Seems to happen every other day. Thanks for the positivity and ❤️.
I bought Crime of the Century when it was first issued (vinyl, still got it) then saw Supertramp when they did their Crime of the Century tour (December 1975 when I saw them) supported by Joan Armatrading
Breakfast in America so well written and produced and one of my favorite albums of all times. Take the Long Way Home, Logical Song and Breakfast in America are some of the songs off this great album. Sales of the album are in excess of 18 million. Crime of the Century from 1974 is also worth a listen.
I am 55 and have a lot of knowledge and a huge collection of my favorite era of music, (1965-1980) If I had to hone my collection down to 10 albums, this would be one of them. LOL, to disagree with me would be the crime of the century.
great reaction, they have a unique sound,i was at one of there concerts in the 1970s it was a great night.i would recommend the logical song, rudy, school, breakfast in america.
"Dreamer" has one of the most interesting time signatures of any pop song. It always sounds like it's about to get going, or in some kind of perpetual Bridge. Then in the last 45 seconds, it takes off. And before you know it, it ends abruptly. Always leave 'em wanting more.
This song is from Supertramp's concept album, Crime of the Century, so it's best enjoyed as a whole, to get the story of Rudy, a painfully shy and depressed gentleman who just can't seem to fit in anywhere or with anyone. Probably one of the more significant albums of the 70s. There isn't a weak track on it. Enjoy.
Most folks are recommending the songs that came after their first big hit in the USA. Try listening to their earlier albums from the UK, "Crisis? What Crisis?" and "Crime of the Century", which IMHO, represent Supertramp at their peak.
Breakfast In America is one of few albums on EVERY must-have vinyl lists...a genuine masterpiece. Love seeing reactions to this album, and yours was great!
No love for Give a Little Bit? One of the biggest bands of the 70s' Probably still holds the attendance record for our local arena along with the late great Charley Pride. Speaking of which have they reacted to Mr Pride?
Dreamer is from the Crime of the Century album (1974). It is my favourite album of all time from my favourite group. I've been listening to them for almost 50 years. The entire album is absolutely amazing; the musicianship and lyrics/social commentary on this album I put up against anything by The Beatles, and I love The Beatles. Dreamer is probably only my fifth or sixth-favourite song from this LP - that's how great Crime of the Century is. Their next four albums were almost as great - Crisis? What Crisis?, Even in the Quietest Moments, Breakfast in America (most popular commercially) and Famous Last Words. I am a new subscriber to your channel because I searched and found you reacting to Supertramp. Please react to a lot more by them. Thanks, Shawn and Mel.
Shawn and Mel - Gotta do this song I ran across - Chris Issak - Baby did a bad bad thing. It’s official music video under Chris Issak. Only 1 reaction so far on it. Luv U Guys 💜🍀🎄👑😜💜
"BLOODY WELL RIGHT" (from Crime of The Century), and "TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME" (from Breakfast of Champions), are my favorite Supertramp songs. Also, check out AVERAGE WHITE BAND (Pick Up The Pieces, Cut The Cake, Schoolboy Crush) for some mid-seventies Scottish funk.

That keyboard break on Goodbye Stranger is orgasmic and the final track,Child in Time is one of the best closers EVER.
Hear hear! BUT...I actually think Crime of the Century is a better album. Just an opinion but that's to detract in any way from BiA which is also awesome.

Sales of the album are in excess of 18 million. Crime of the Century from 1974 is also worth a listen.
Their style is so unique, any of their songs are instantly recognizable as Supertramp.
They need to have a Volcano emoji next to the thumbs up and thumbs down, that way you know we think it EXPLODES WITH FIRE...🌋🔥🔥🔥
Listen to "Hide In Your Shell."
It'll blow you away.
I am 55 and have a lot of knowledge and a huge collection of my favorite era of music, (1965-1980) If I had to hone my collection down to 10 albums, this would be one of them. LOL, to disagree with me would be the crime of the century.
Pretty early Supertramp but they had all their elements, their sound dialed in on this one!!!
