I am devastated at the loss of Nanci Griffith. I literally burst into tears at the news. I am a performer and do several of her songs and have loved listening to her work for many years. Her soul comes through her recordings and always touched me deeply, and absolutely stellar performances with respect to her playing, singing and her choice of associate performers just made them the more beautiful to my ears. I am so sad at the loss of her contribution to my love of music and happiness.
I have a very similar feeling of heartbreak at her passing on from us. I am grateful for having loved and listened to her music since 1989. There's been 3 singer songwriters deaths who have had a profound impact on me. First Dan Fogel erg, followed by Kate McGarrigle in 2010. And now the beautiful soul of Nanci. I cherish her music.
Scott, I want to thank you so very much for performing her songs - I grew up with Nanci & for each song there’s vivid, beautiful memories of growing up, of my parents, of my little sister & I blasting her songs when we were alone. We still say “she by-God didn’t want to live in Oklahoma!” And when I opened my 1st restaurant on Cape Cod, I invented all of the drinks on the bar specialty menu….each was named for one of her songs, but no one knew it except my parents, when I sent them the menu. The Bluebonnet Spring martini was awesome, lol. As long as talented people, such as yourself, continue to perform her music & words, she’ll never truly be gone. And maybe some kid, somewhere will grow up with the same beautiful memories of her childhood, because you refused to let Nanci’s memory fade. I’m grateful for that. ❤️
I had always hoped to meet her someday. I would have said, "Please don't hate me, my name is Eric Taylor." Even better, my mother's name was Nancy, so if she took her husband's name she would have been Nanci Taylor.
Nanci had a unique voice. Her passion and talent and body of work will always be remembered and cherished. She may be gone but her music will live on. She was truly a legend. Thank you Nanci for sharing your gift with us if only for a short time. You will be missed.
You are a gentle, loving Soul Nanci, and you have moved on to advancement in Spirit. One year from the date of your passing I want you to know that thousands and thousands of us still 'stuck in Austin' and all over the world miss you very much and we shall never forget the great little firebrand you are and so full of life and love for everyone! Thank you so much Nanci for giving us treasures from you to us! Missing you and Loving you! Ever, Wes
Even though I did not know nanci Griffith till very recently, I was shocked and saddened to learn of her passing. I want to convey my condolences and express my heartfelt sympathy to her family, friends and relatives. May she rest in peace.
Where...how...and what caused her death is not important is it.....what is important is that she lived and left us with some amazing memories that we will cherish for a long time
We lived a few houses part when we were kids. Nanci, our friend Shari and I would sit in her front yard when we were so young, early 1960's and she would sing and play her guitar for us. She made up some really nice songs and one I remember all the time was about a young girl who ran away and would get her toes stuck in the track ( railroad tracks ). Such wonderful memories.
I love that I and she share are birthday on July 6 and she was 10 years old when I was born . And 76 is a good number being an American 7 the month and 6 the day .the date was boning .
It's a thousand pities!

I think her soul always came through for some of us, like she felt the same way you did at least sometimes.
Me too

I was honored to open for her when she played in Queen Creek AZ. One of the coolest things I ever got to do. RIP, Nanci.
Tears simply aren't enough to shed for this dear angel, though it's begun.
It was my pleasure to know (of) her;
she is alive as ever in my heart.
Love you Nanci…she made the Woolworth counter shine.
I was fortunate to see her live in concert at least 5 times. She was a beautiful soul. She will be missed. RIP Nanci.
I just learned of her passing this morning. One of my all time favorite singer songwriters. Been a fan since 1984.
Me too. Amazing songwriter and singer. She should of been better known.
There is a large empty place where a small lady stood. Her voice could move us to tears or smiles. Rest dear lady, you have done well.

Thank you for the music Nanci. You will be missed. Godspeed.
She was and still is amazing. You know you are getting old when your heros die before you ... ❤️

I knew her for a short time back in the early 1990s, when she was in Dublin. She was a very gentle soul, and a very lovely lady..
are you a friend of nanci's?
@@bobbyzhang703 For a while I knew her back in the 1990's. A lovely lady.
@@tomasjoconnel5367 you are so lucky…
@@bobbyzhang703 nah, just fortunate enough to know a nice person like NG
I love her music, and by watching videos and listening to her she will be with us in our hearts, R.I.P NANCY
One of my favourite songs is 'From a distance ' by her. Lovely songs and music. Wow, what an amazing artist. Her music lives on.
May God bless Nanci Griffith .
So sad to hear. Loved her music and performances. Will be missed in folk community.
This is a wonderful tribute to Nanci Griffith. It's not our business how she died. Her ailment simply caused her death.
She was huge in Ireland in the late eighties.
One of my favorite movies is "True Grit" with Jeff Bridges and Nanci Griffith singing a religious song. Absolutely unsurpassed.
Breaks my heart.
I love her version of "Boots of Spanish Leather'
Me too. Dylan played harmonica on it.
Transatlantic Sessions version was brilliant.
Very sad, I've been a fan of Nanci's when she was on Austin City Limits.
One of my favorites, Be in peace.
Rest in peace Nanci. May all the Storms be yours.
Miss her big old sweet, Texas smile. From a daughter of the Gulf Coast.
tears here
So sad. What a unique gift she had.
She was my favorite singer, even before I knew she was my wife.
You the real Eric Taylor?. I saw her perform in a large auditorium with Robert Earl Keen Jr in about 1990. Amazing night.
That obituary was very poor and disrespectful....no soul or meaning put into this.....Nanci deserves a lot better R.I.P.....
Who ever is responsible for having a robot announcing her passing should be ashamed
She will be missed!
Weird to have an obituary of such a gifted storyteller read in computer-voice, but there it is.
She was the best
She was a great lady,i have only two of her albums, but i will investigate the rest
The narrator has a polite and pleasant voice for a robot.
Rip Ms. Nancy
RIP

😭😭😭
Does anyone know when her funeral will be?
I hate computerized digital narration. If you can't narrate with a real voice, do something else with your life. Get a real job.
Was she gay??
what a tasteless question!!!!!!!!
