    SQ42 was delayed to due the planet tech, where you could fly down to a planet seemlessly, which they wanted to incorporate into SQ42.

    That demo is not only pretty impressive, it is very solid as well, and there are way more places here instead of just one, plus they never have declared Squadron 42 as feature complete, knowing the game is on polish phase is really important, again, reminding us that the fact that we can see each stage of this development, makes people think it is taking too long, when in fact, this is a perfectly normal development cycle, specially considering all the tech R&D that needed to happen in order to achieve this, plus having Star Citizen being done in parallel with Squadron.

    • @DadPlaysGames
      @DadPlaysGames  9 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah, the feature complete announcement is A BIG deal! I love the transparency they roll with. It's been a curse at times for them I think, but mostly a good thing

      This is not a "perfectly normal development cycle". Fromsoft took both Elden Ring the greatest game ever made and Armored Core 6 from scribbles on a notepad to fully released games in the time it took for CIG to update us with a new SQ42 trailer...5 years weve waited.. juat to watch a trailer.. that's on top of the 6 more years we waited since the Kickstarter launched. This is not called "normal".
      Don't get me wrong I love this game and I fully expect SQ42 to be amazing but let's call a spade a spade..

    • @AdolfoWWolf
      @AdolfoWWolf 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@KamalaChameleon Well i guess calling it long is definitely not wrong, i guess Elden Ring could be called the "closest" in scale of the two you cited, but even that is a stretch, the difference in scope even for Squadron 42 is gigantic, there is nothing that goes to this degree of game in the market i could say right now, and that is the thing, a game being done to this degree of tech is not something you see in decades, you add to that, there is 2 massive projects being done in parallel plus the company being also developed alongside... even 15 years fits pretty understandably, and games that took more than 10 years is nothing unheard of. I'll admit, perfectly normal, is a bit forced considering the time frame, but in no way this game should have been out a long time ago, as it sounds by your comment at least to me right?
      So observing all the factors at play, this long development time is considerably understandable, and to me, normal, or expected if you prefer.

    • @Billy-bc8pk
      @Billy-bc8pk 9 месяцев назад +3

       @baldycornrow Elden Ring is built on the Demon Souls engine, which came out in 2009. So Elden Ring had 14 years of development infrastructure behind it to get to where it is. So yes, long dev times for large games is common.

I would imagine that these aliens are tough and quite agile in melee combat, it probably could take some punishment before they fall down. They are not your average 9 tails human pirates

    Super stacked cast, and I'm really excited. Mark Hammill, Mark Strong, Gary Oldman, John Rhys Davies, Ben Mendehlson, GIllian Anderson, Henry Cavill... it's going to be good. Also, if you get a chance, I would 100% jump into the 'Verse. So much has changed, even just since 2019 when I started playing. Even in the last year, there has been so much progress. It's still buggy at times, but there has been so much improvement and it'd be worth hopping in.

    I think it's going to be a great game to the people who backed it, even those who got fed up waiting (and that's a fair grievance for early backers).
    For broader audiences the gameplay might feel a bit busy or over complicated if Star Citizen is anything to go by (even with an on-rails campaing).
    The story might & writing might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I guess we'll find out. They've got a lot of star power, excellent mo-cap & character models though so there's going to be great performances. I'm expecting a healthy serving of 80s/90s sci-fi cheese & I'm here for it.
    The flight & vehicle mechanics are going to be where the game lives or dies and what differentiates it from other games. It needs to cater to lots of control schemes and be deep enough to offer challenges to people with multi-thousand dollar sim-pits but also accessible and fun for everyone. It's a tall order, but they've got time.
